First, the color image is converted from RGB (red, green, blue) space to CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) space, which is assigned to a quaternion matrix. Meanwhile, the quaternion matrix is converted into the information of the phase and amplitude by the Euler form of the quatemion. Secondly, the phase and amplitude of the quatemion matrix are used as the smoothness constraints for the compressed sensing (CS) problem to make the reconstructing results more accurate. Finally, an iterative method based on gradient is used to solve the CS problem. Experimental results show that by considering the information of the phase and amplitude, the proposed method can achieve better performance than the existing method that treats the three components of the color image as independent parts.展开更多

And it was good for solving such a bottleneck problem in knowledge acquisition in expert system and enhancing real-time on-line diagnosis. The L1-norm minimization problem over the quaternion numbe...An algorithm for recovering the quaternion signals in both noiseless and noise contaminated scenarios by solving an L1-norm minimization problem is presented. The L1-norm minimization problem over the quaternion number field is solved by converting it to an equivalent second-order cone programming problem over the real number field, which can be readily solved by convex optimization solvers like SeDuMi. Numerical experiments are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. In a noiseless scenario, the experimental results show that under some practically acceptable conditions, exact signal recovery can be achieved. With additive noise contamination in measurements, the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust to noise. The proposed algorithm can be applied in compressed-sensing-based signal recovery in the quaternion domain.展开更多
This study investigates the motivations of Chinese domestic tourists visiting seismic memorial sites after the great Wenchuan earthquake of 2008, and examines their interpretation of experiences and benefits of the vi...This study investigates the motivations of Chinese domestic tourists visiting seismic memorial sites after the great Wenchuan earthquake of 2008, and examines their interpretation of experiences and benefits of the visits. Recent research on dark tourism has raised the possibility that people are attracted to death and memorial sites in ways different from other tourist attractions. The study used an empirical research design employing questionnaires to collect data from 255 Chinese domestic visitors at seismic memorial sites in west Sichuan. Analysis revealed that the obligation of commemoration mixed with curiosity represents a different set of travel motivation in dark tourism settings than in other kinds of tourism. In addition, the empirical evidence also suggests an interrelated pattern between motivations, experiences and benefits. This study implies that Chinese domestic tourists were attracted in ways different from other tourist attractions both because they tended to fulfill their obligation of commemoration and were interested in destruction; and visitor experiences played an important mediating role between travel motivations and benefits gained.展开更多
Our paper presents an interactive four-dimensional model for studying the long- and short-term development of the communication discipline with Israel serving as a case study: institutional-contextual, institutional-...Our paper presents an interactive four-dimensional model for studying the long- and short-term development of the communication discipline with Israel serving as a case study: institutional-contextual, institutional-in-field, intellectual-contextual, and intellectual-in-field. Our empirical analysis utilized personal interviews, archive documents, and statistical data. Four main processes were discerned: transition from integration to alienation between institutions of higher learning and the larger political and ideological context; a shift from Hebrew University Institute of Communication's institutional monopoly to a multiplicity of increasingly competitive communication schools/departments; transition from intellectual hegemony to limited intellectual diversity; and gradually improving status for the communication field among social science disciplines. Our case-study analysis validated the interactive relationship among the model's conceptual dimensions, calling for future cross-national comparisons.展开更多
