The structure of rural community with the impact of rural tourism is analyzed, and the coupling relation between rural tourism development mode and rural community is discussed. With the integration of rural tourism resource and community capability, network of rural tourism formats is organized starting with the possibility and ways of participation of community's vil agers, and formats of public resource type, plat-form investment type, smal and micro enterprises type, and general investment type are constructed to realize the positive cycle of rural community factors and tourism development. A case study of Jindatian Vil age demonstrates the feasibility of rural tourism network mode based on community development, which can depend on community's capability to realize the sustainable rural tourism, the protection and heritance of rural culture, and the regeneration of rural economy.展开更多

The study was carried out with respect to three income groups. A total of 36 households (12 from each income groups) were assessed using different participatory appraisals through semi-structured questionnaires. A special type of indigenous knowledge on housing pattern and food habit was explored in the Mro community, which correspond to the severe dependence on forest resources.展开更多

This paper takes Wuxi Opera, a precious cultural treasure in Jiangsu province, China, for example. We will discuss the difficulties in spreading Wuxi Opera globally and learn the successful globalizing experience from other operas, such as Peking Opera, Kunqu Opera and Sichuan Opera. Considering the important status and rich resources of Peking Opera, we will analyze Peking Opera thoroughly and the most important aspects of Sichuan Opera and Kunqu Opera. By analyzing their translations and globalization process, we believe that Wuxi Opera should make efforts especially in four aspects to make progress in its globalizing campaign.展开更多

Creating a local landscape is not only important to modem urban landscape design and utban planning, but also an. important part of the construction of current distinctive towns. Based on the analysis of the application of native landscape elements in urban gardens, the research points out the innovative design and application of the local landscape elements. Moreover it uses the artistic expression techniques of extracting the native landscape elements into the garden landscape as the entry point, and analyzes the designing principle and planning key points in die ptocess of creating a local landscape of the cultural square park in charactenstic towns, providing constructing and protecting strategies for creating a landscape of rural landscapes in China's landscape planning.展开更多

A laboratory experiment was set-up, with a semi-arid control soil and the same soil but artificially contaminated with diesel oil, to follow changes in the dominant species of the microbial community in the hydrocarbon-polluted soil via proteomics. Analysis of the proteins extracted from enriched cultures growing in Luria-Bertani (LB) media showed a change in the microbial community. The majority of the proteins were related to gIycolysis pathways, structural or protein synthesis. The results showed a relative increase in the complexity of the soil microbial community with hydrocarbon contamination, especially after 15 days of incubation. Species such as Ralstonia solanacearum, Synechococcus elongatus and different Clostridium sp. were adapted to contamination, not appearing in the control soil, although Bacillus sp. dominated the growing in LB in any of the treatments. We conclude that the identification of microbial species in soil extracts by culture-dependent proteomics is able to partially explain the changes in the diversity of the soil microbial community in hydrocarbon polluted semi-arid soils, but this information is much more limited than that provided by molecular methods.展开更多

Through the process of unravelling stories of past trauma with a view to recovery/freedom from symptoms, meaningful therapy requires the weaving together of traditional beliefs and practices with trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy approaches. Culturally, the relevant treatment respects traditional beliefs and focuses on their innate resiliency historically within their culture. As a clinician invited intimately through the therapeutic relationship into the lives of First Nations abuse survivors, the healing power of cultural identity was discovered along them. Similarly, the author's role as therapist was one of teachers, who guided them through the process of telling their stories to the peace and acceptance utilizing therapeutic techniques from an eclectic spectrum of therapeutic approaches. All the while, it should interweave their stories and native beliefs into the therapy journey. It was a process of co-creating healing through a mutual respect of the shared roles as guide, teacher, story teller and healer. Culturally, the relevant psychotherapy requires the weaving of two world views to create a basket of healing.展开更多

Data were collected by the way of a self-administered questionnaire with the study sample comprising students from bachelor degree programs. The results of the study offer an important view regarding the motivation for attending cultural tourism among Turkish students. More people cross borders of nations, leave their homeland and live in new homes, but they still maintain the characteristics of native culture and convention. The cultural turn in translation studies offers the best chance to understand more about the complexities of textual transfer and the patterns of cultural interaction. By virtue of this mode of cultural interaction, this paper has analyzed the translation practice and translation strategies from the cultural diaspora perspective, to deeply understand the relations between translation and culture beyond linguistic analysis. As in-between culture identity translators may re-examine two cultures with different eyes to find the intersection of two cultures and gain a balanced point. This move requires translators who play the role of intermediaries between cultures, to select the heterogeneous reconstruction, so as to achieve the intercultural communication in the translation activity展开更多

Twenty-one 5th graders participated in this study forty minutes per week, lasting for sixteen weeks. They were required to co-create English picture books of Pinghu through thematic task-based activities. Research data required for the study were collected through the pre-/post-tests of vocabulary and cultural knowledge, a participants' feedback questionnaire as well as semi-structured interviews. The results of this study showed that after experimental instruction, EFL 5th graders significantly improved their recognition of the connection between English word sounds and word meanings, word meanings and word forms, word forms and word meanings, as well as spellings. Moreover, their local cultural knowledge was improved significantly as well. Furthermore, based upon the 5th graders' responses to questionnaire and semi-structure interview, most of them developed a very positive attitude towards the activities of co-creating local picture books and their interest, self-confidence in English writing, and English learning behavior. Based on the findings, some suggestions were offered for the pedagogical applications and future studies.展开更多

The climate, geography, and local living culture in the region have developed an invaluable rural built environment in terms of cultural heritage, Thus, the architectural heritage of the region shows the perfect balance between the nature and human life, there is a need to understand the value of the vernacular architecture heritage in the region, The architecture is a response to functional requirements as well as environmental factors. Indeed, rural architectural of this region is a reflection of the cultural values of the society, behavioural patterns of the people and environmental factors from the past. In this study, the aim is understand and appreciate this heritage through systematic surveying and documentation in eastern Black Sea Region composed from Trabzon, Rize and Artvin Cities. Using interdisciplinary methods, present paper touches the case of Armenian monodic music. Through analysis of song types (concerning labour, funeral, wedding, belief, worship, magic, mythology, epic, and dance), music representatives, music performance places, and musical instruments, an attempt is made to consider the phenomenon within certain temporal borders. It turns out that the folk and folk-professional realistic music is simple and static in its essence and includes the invariant component of local culture, going back to the period of formation of early farming communities. Meanwhile with emerging social complexity since the Bronze Age, new and various forms of musical performance come to existence.展开更多

The results of the analyses have shown that character of change of number of the basic physiological groups of microorganisms (a bacteria, sporeforming bacteria, actinomysetes and microscopic fungies) depends not only on soil-ecological conditions but also on the kind and biological features of cultivated cultures. In soils of subtropical zones the greatest number of organisms using organic nitrogen in food was observed on alluvial meadow-forestry soils and yellowish-gley soils. Gray-brown soils are rich in actinomycetes in comparison with alluvial meadow-forestry soils, but meadow-serozem is rich in spore-forming bacteria forms. A number of microscopic fungi of the studied soils were the least. High intensity of processes of mineralization was marked in meadow-serozem soils, the least in alluvial meadow-forestry and yellowish-gley soils. Under permanent cultures the quantity of microorganisms was less, and factor of mineralization is higher above, than in crop rotation.展开更多
