An integrated ANFIS model is built and the effectiveness of the model is verified by means of investigation data and their processing results. The model merges the learning mechanism of neural network and the language inference ability of fuzzy system, and thereby remedies the defects of neural network and fuzzy logic system. Result of this case study shows that the model is suitable for complicated socio-technical systems and has bright application perspective to solve such problems of prediction, evaluation and policy-making in managerial fields.展开更多
A novel anti-collision algorithm in RFID wireless network is proposed.As it is put forward on the basis of collision tree(CT)and improved collision tree(lCT) anti-collision protocols,we call it adaptive collision tree...A novel anti-collision algorithm in RFID wireless network is proposed.As it is put forward on the basis of collision tree(CT)and improved collision tree(lCT) anti-collision protocols,we call it adaptive collision tree protocol(ACT).The main novelty of this paper is that the AD strategy is introduced and used in ACT to decrease collisions and improve the tag system throughput.AD strategy means that query strings will divide into two or four branches adaptively according to the label quantity.This scheme can decrease both depth of query and collision timeslots,and avoid producing too much idle timeslots at the same time.Both theoretical analysis and simulation results indicate that the novel proposed anticollision protocol ACT outperforms the previous CT and ICT protocols in term of time complexity,system throughput,and communication complexity.展开更多

Considering limited feedback, each user can adaptively select an RRU cluster to maintain the best communication quality. Under this condition, only one codebook is utilized for quantizing the Channel State Information (CSI) with variable dimensions, which effectively reduces the codebook storage amount. Furthermore, we propose an adaptive bit partition algorithm, which separately allocates bits to quantize the desired channels and interference channels. The optimal solution is achieved through an optimization theory to minimize the effect of inter-cell interference. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm substantially improves the performance compared to other non-adaptive schemes.展开更多

In order to reduce the number of the states involved in the computation, an adaptive pruning method for the trellis is proposed. In this scheme, we prune the states which have the low forward-backward quantities below a carefully-chosen threshold. Thus, a wandering trellis with much less states is achieved, which contains most of the states with quite high probability. Simulation results reveal that, with the proper scaling factor, significant complexity reduction in the forward-backward algorithm is achieved at the expense of slight performance degradation.展开更多
Performance of the Adaptive Coding and Modulation(ACM) strongly depends on the retrieved Channel State Information(CSI),which can be obtained using the channel estimation techniques relying on pilot symbol transmissio...Performance of the Adaptive Coding and Modulation(ACM) strongly depends on the retrieved Channel State Information(CSI),which can be obtained using the channel estimation techniques relying on pilot symbol transmission.Earlier analysis of methods of pilot-aided channel estimation for ACM systems were relatively little.In this paper,we investigate the performance of CSI prediction using the Minimum Mean Square Error(MMSE)channel estimator for an ACM system.To solve the two problems of MMSE:high computational operations and oversimplified assumption,we then propose the Low-Complexity schemes(LC-MMSE and Recursion LC-MMSE(R-LC-MMSE)).Computational complexity and Mean Square Error(MSE) are presented to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.Both analysis and numerical results show that LC-MMSE performs close to the wellknown MMSE estimator with much lower complexity and R-LC-MMSE improves the application of MMSE estimation to specific circumstances.展开更多

In the period from 1970-2001, the five countries with the largest number of terrorist attacks were...Terrorism is a global phenomenon that over the last 44 years more than 140,000 terrorist events have been carried out. In the period from 1970-2001, the five countries with the largest number of terrorist attacks were Colombia, Peru, El Salvador, United Kingdom, and India. On the other hand, in the post-2001 context, the five countries with the largest number of terrorist attacks were Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and Thailand. One method for measuring in an aggregate way, how many people have suffered under terrorist attacks at national level is to analyze the correlation between some national wellbeing indicators and the number of terrorist attacks. The aim of this study is to analyze empirically the correlation between the global terrorist attacks and the countries wellbeing indicators. Five indicators show a strong relationship with the number of terrorist attacks in the case of the four most attacked countries in the post-2001 context. The authors consider that their findings can support the design of new strategies for preventing terrorist activities taking into account certain socio-economic and political drivers. The authors conclude that as such drivers are socio-complex, so it is necessary to adopt the complex adaptive system (CAS) approach to provide a new way of thinking about terrorism.展开更多

During the navigation test of the self-propelled model, the complex environment including various port facilities, navigation facilities, and the ships nearby must be considered carefully, because in this dense environment the impact of sea waves and winds on the model is particularly significant. In order to improve the security of the self-propelled model, this paper introduces the Q learning based on reinforcement learning combined with chaotic ideas for the model's collision avoidance, in order to improve the reliability of the local path planning. Simulation and sea test results show that this algorithm is a better solution for collision avoidance of the self navigation model under the interference of sea winds and waves with good adaptability.展开更多

In cells, the interactions of distinct signaling transduction pathways originating from cross-talkings between signaling molecules give rise to the formation of signaling transduction networks, which contributes to th...In cells, the interactions of distinct signaling transduction pathways originating from cross-talkings between signaling molecules give rise to the formation of signaling transduction networks, which contributes to the changes (emergency) of kinetic behaviors of signaling system compared with single molecule or pathway. Depending on the known experimental data, we have constructed a model for complex cellular signaling transduction system, which is derived from signaling transduction of epidermal growth factor receptor in neuron. By the computational simulating methods, the self-adaptive controls of this system have been investigated. We find that this model exhibits a relatively stable selfadaptive system, especially to over-stimulation of agonist, and the amplitude and duration of signaling intermediates in it could be controlled by multiple self-adaptive effects, such as 'signal scattering', 'positive feedback', 'negative feedback' and 'B-Raf shunt'. Our results provide an approach to understanding the dynamic behaviors of complex biological systems.展开更多
