The corrosion and pitting behavior of pure aluminum 1060 exposed to Nansha Islands marine atmosphere for 34 months was investigated based on mass loss measurement,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive sp...The corrosion and pitting behavior of pure aluminum 1060 exposed to Nansha Islands marine atmosphere for 34 months was investigated based on mass loss measurement,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).The results indicated that serious pitting corrosion occurred on the surfaces of pure aluminum.The corrosion rate after exposure for 13 months was approximately 1.28 g/(m^(2)·a).The XPS results showed that the corrosion products were Al_(2)O_(3),Al(OH)_(3),and AlCl_(3).Moreover,the corrosion product layer was more protective than the native oxide film,and the protectiveness first increased and then decreased.Finally,the shape of the pits was evaluated using statistical analysis.展开更多

Firstly, the images of the scene and the people who view the video advertisements are captured by the net- work camera deployed on the video advertising terminal side. Then audiences' characteristics can be obtained by applying computer vision technologies : face detection, face tracking, gender recogni- tion and age estimation. Finally, an intelligent recommendation algorithm is designed to decide the most fitting video ads for each terminal according to multi-dimensional statistical information of its reover, a novel face detection method and a new face tracking method have been proposed to meet the practical requirements of the system, of which the average Fl-score is O. 988 and 0. 951 respec- tively.展开更多

The survey sampled 408 residents and tourists aged 16 and above. The awareness of the 16 ads. ranged from 18 to 80 percent with an average 43.5 percent. The layouts of the two subway ads. received highest awareness were focused and had a clear distinction between foreground and background. Average ad awareness was comparable to that reported in two similar studies of subway ads. conducted in the 1990s. Average ad awareness of subway ads. was higher than that of outdoor advertising measured using similar methodology in 2010s. Respondents demonstrated positive attitudes toward subway advertising, and reported that subway ads. that drew their attention were those with creative ideas, vivid colors, and large-than-life size execution.展开更多

The findings suggest that countries that are able to reap the benefits of the capital openness policy satisfy certain threshold conditions regarding the level of financial development and institutional quality. Thus to promote FDI, governments in this region should develop a set of policies that not only focus on financial openness, but also on the improvement of the financial system and legal institutions.展开更多

However, research that investigates the effectiveness of outdoor ads targeting to tourists has far lagged behind. This study aims to assess the awareness of outdoor ads and to provide insight into effective advertising that target tourists. Pedestrians intercepted in downtown Hong Kong were surveyed using a questionnaire and quota sampling. They were presented with images of seven outdoor advertisements currently displayed in the neighborhood and their recall and impressions of the ads were surveyed. The survey sampled 465 local residents and tourists aged 15 and above. Among the tourists, the awareness of the seven ads ranged from 19 to 49 percent with an average 30 percent. They displayed more positive perceptions of outdoor advertising than the locals, but had lower awareness. Practical suggestions for outdoor advertisers targeting tourists are proposed.展开更多

Brachionus plicatilis and B. rotundiformis were cultured in 10 numbers of 1 tonne tanks and the physico-chemical parameters and microbial loads of water, and total bacterial and Vibrio loads of microalgae and rotifers, during the period 2014-15, were studied. The study revealed a significant variation of the ammonia levels and total bacterial loads with different diets (P 〈 0.05). A positive correlation was observed between the total bacterial loads of algal concentrations and loads of rotifers, but no correlation was observed between Vibrio loads of water and rotifers. The prevalence of Vibrio loads of rotifers was low in tanks fed with Nannochloropsis oculata and maximum Vibrio loads were recorded in Chaetoceros calcitrans fed rotifers. The Vibrio loads significantly varied with days of culture and also with the algal diets. A positive correlation was observed between the total Vibrio loads of water and rotifers.展开更多

The distribution and corresponding parameters for describing the eigenvalue dispersion, the maximum and minimum eigenvalues are given. It is found that the backhaul link is relatively stable, which shows small variance of the channel gain. In spite of the fact that there are not many scatterers in the backhaul link, the channel rank can be enhanced by using dual-polarized antennas. The effect of four dried callus powders derived from certain plants, i.e. tomato, Lycopersicon esculentum; periwinkle, Catharanthus roseus; thorne apple, Datura stramonium and oleander, Nerium oleander applied separat...The effect of four dried callus powders derived from certain plants, i.e. tomato, Lycopersicon esculentum; periwinkle, Catharanthus roseus; thorne apple, Datura stramonium and oleander, Nerium oleander applied separately or concomitantly with oxamyl at a half of the recommended dose each on tomato seedlings grown in soil naturally heavy infested with M. incognita under field conditions, indicated that dried callus powder derived from N. oleander either alone or mixed with oxamyl significantly surpassed the other tested treatments in improving percentages of increase in whole plant fresh and shoot dry weights as well as increasing numbers and weights of fruits. Concerning other treatments including oxamyl at a half of recommended dose with each tested callus powder, similar results were evident regarding tomato plant growth parameters. C. roseus plus oxamyl achieved the highest percentage of increase in whole plant fresh weight (141.4%) and shoot dry weight (189.7%) and ranked second to N. oleander + oxamyl in this respect over the untreated plants, respectively. One the other hand, among all tested materials single application of either L. esculentum or oxamyl gave the least values of such criteria which averaged 34.4% and 61.7% or 39.5% and 11.2%, respectively. All tested treatments significantly reduced the total number of galls, egg-masses and eggs in egg-masses especially, dried callus powder of N. oleander which applied singly or combined with oxamyl. The least values of reduction percentages of galls and eggs in egg-masses among all treatments were recorded from tomato plant received dried callus powders of L. esculentum applied alone or concomitant with oxamyl.展开更多

The design incorporates several novel technical solutions: polycarbonate support insulation, mono-stable magnetic actuator, labyrinth pulling insulator, core-type flexible contact and new compact vacuum interrupter (VI). Phases are encapsulated into silicone rubber providing required creepage distance and excellent tracking resistance. These novelties along with extensive modeling of the mechanical and electrical fields followed by design optimization resulted in weight reduction of more than 50% compared with alternatives available in the market. And this is in spite of built in sensors measuring: phase currents, zero-sequence current, phase voltages.展开更多

The authors therefore developed new weat...LDPE (low-density polyethylene) photo degraded through various accelerated weathering tests has the molecular weight distribution curves unlike that through outdoor exposure. The authors therefore developed new weathering test condition based on the existing accelerated weathering test using a xenon arc lamp. Samples of LDPE were photo degraded using various accelerated weathering test conditions and outdoor exposure. The physical properties and chemical structures of the photo degraded samples were studied through a tensile test, infrared spectroscopy, and gel chromatography. The authors found that the molecular weight distribution curve of a sample photo degraded using a xenon lamp at a higher BPT (black panel temperature) (73 ~C) was more similar to that of an outdoor-exposed sample than that of a sample photo degraded at the standard BPT (63 ~C). It is considered that higher temperature accelerates radical recombination, consequently recreating molecular enlargement similar to the outdoor-exposed sample. Multiple regression analysis using newly introduced Mp (peak-top molecular weight) and Mw (weight-average molecular weight) as explanatory variables was conducted, which successfully enabled the authors to provide a simple explanation for the decrease in polymer tensile strength.展开更多
In the relationship between humans and the environment,all human activities depend on the geographical environment,which serves as the spatial place and material foundation for human life.This study provides a perspec...In the relationship between humans and the environment,all human activities depend on the geographical environment,which serves as the spatial place and material foundation for human life.This study provides a perspective on the human-environment relationship,using a case study of the Dashanbao Mountainous Outdoor Tourism Planning Area in Zhaotong,Yunnan.This study employed methods such as literature review,on-site investigation,and GIS spatial analysis to analyze the functional characteristics of the regional subject,spatial structuring,and spatiotemporally variable ordered processes of Dashanbao as a tourism destination from the perspective of human-environment relationships.The results indicate that under the guidance of the human-environment relationship system philosophy,the construction path of the“ecological space,production space,and living space”includes three main aspects:(1)The formation of five major project blocks and five functional zones to meet the diverse needs of different groups;(2)The establishment of a"multi-core module"structure optimizing the spatial layout of the tourism destination;and(3)With the changes in space and time,the convergence of elements in each block can form a composite mountainous outdoor tourism space with the characteristics of“ecology,life,and production”.The results of this study provide a scientific basis for promoting the sustainable development of tourism regional systems with mountainous characteristics.展开更多

However, the associations of vitamin D intake and outdoo...Early studies had suggested that vitamin D intake was inversely associated with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis. However, the associations of vitamin D intake and outdoor activities with Parkinson's disease(PD) are still unclear, so this study is to evaluate these relationships from a case-control study in elderly Chinese. The study population involved 209 cases with new onsets of PD and 210 controls without neurodegenerative diseases. The data on dietary vitamin D and outdoor activities were collected using a food-frequency questionnaire and self-report questionnaire. Multivariable logistic regressions were used to examine the associations between dietary outdoor activities, vitamin D intake and PD. Adjustment was made for sex, age, smoking, alcohol use, education, and body mass index(BMI). Adjusted odds ratios(ORs) for PD in quartiles for outdoor physical activity were 1(reference), 0.739(0.413, 1.321), 0.501(0.282, 0.891), and 0.437(0.241, 0.795), respectively(P=0.002 for trend). Adjusted ORs for PD in quartiles for total vitamin D intake were 1(reference), 0.647(0.357, 1.170), 0.571(0.318, 1.022), and 0.538(0.301, 0.960), respectively(P=0.011 for trend). Our study suggested that outdoor activity and total vitamin D intake were inversely associated with PD, and outdoor activity seems to be more significantly associated with decreased risk for PD.展开更多
