What is the quantitative risk of gastric cancer in the first-degree relatives of patients? A meta-analysis

AIMTo quantify the risk of gastric cancer in first-degree relatives of patients with the cancer.METHODSA comprehensive literature search was performed. Case-control trials comparing the frequency of a positive family history of gastric cancer in patients with gastric cancer, vs non-gastric cancer controls were retrieved. Studies with missed or non-extractable data, studies in children, abstracts, and duplicate publications were excluded. A meta-analysis of pooled odd ratios was performed using Review Manager 5.0.25. We performed subgroup analysis on Asian studies and a sensitivity analysis based on the quality of the studies, type of the outcome, sample size, and whether studies considered only first-degree relatives.RESULTSThirty-two relevant studies out of 612 potential abstracts (n = 80690 individuals) were included. 19.0% of the patients and 10.9% of the controls had at least one relative with gastric cancer (P < 0.00001). The pooled relative risk for the development of gastric cancer in association with a positive family history was 2.35 (95%CI: 1.96-2.81). The Cochran Q test for heterogeneity was positive (P < 0.00001, I² = 92%). After excluding the three outlier studies with the highest relative risks, heterogeneity remained significant (P < 0.00001, I² = 90%). The result was not different among Asian studies as compared to others and remained robust in several sensitivity analyses. In the 26 studies which exclusively analysed the history of gastric cancer in first-degree relatives, the relative risk was 2.71 (95%CI: 2.08-3.53; P < 0.00001).CONCLUSIONIndividuals with a first-degree relative affected with gastric cancer have a risk of about 2.5-fold for the development of gastric cancer. This could be due to genetic or environmental factors. Screening and preventive strategies should be developed for this high-risk population.

Modeling Scenic Quality of Wetland Landscape Resources in South Dongting Lake,China

This study introduces a method to quantify the sceaic value of wetland landscapes and provides the guid- ance on the allocation of efforts for the purpose of preserving the most important environments. Dongting Lake, a tra-ditional tourist location, is one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China and a Grade 5A National Scenic Region. This study objectively analyzes the scenic resources of South Dongting Lake, and presents a model based on Quantifi- cation Theory I to assess wetland scenic landscapes. Employing a multilinear regression relationship between land-scape factors and their associated scenic value, we built up the Wetland Landscape Quantification Model （WLQM）, which was used to classify 221 landscapes into five grades. Finally, some suggestions are proposed regarding quantita-tive assessment and its use for the sustainable development of wetland environments.

Risk-analysis-based research and application of land use planning

The establishments which produce,store and use kinds of inflammable,explosive or toxic materials may induce accident,such as fire,explosion or poisonous gas dispersion,etc. Therefore,there is a need to locate these establishments appropriately and conduct land use planning in the vicinity of these establishments based on risk analysis. Consulting advanced experience which obtained from land-use planning in European countries,this paper studied on locating hazardous establishment based on risk index,land-use planning based on consequence-probability,and land-use planning based on individual risk. Frameworks and procedures of the three approaches above were determined and applied to a proposed LNG station. The results show three methods are feasible when major projects' location and their surrounding buildings or establishments' layout are considered.

An optimal incentive contract to venture capitalist

This paper aims to study the principal-agent relationship between investors and venture capitalists （VCs）, makes research on the moral hazard issues under this relationship, and how to design an effective incentive mechanism to avoid it. By constructing a new incentive model, this paper provides the reference for investors to establish a reasonable payment contract. The designed incentive contract is a kind of dominant consecutive payment mode, which plays a strong incentive role to the VCs, in addition, it also requires the VCs to invest certain capital to the project, which can effectively prevent the slapdash action of VCs, and reduce the agent cost of investors.

Transformational Leadership： The Emerging Leadership Style of Successful Entrepreneurs

This research was conducted to identify the emerging leadership style being practiced by successful entrepreneurs and the leadership behavior they frequently applied. Since, leadership style and behavior has a huge influence to the success of the entrepreneur＇s enterprise. One hundred and fifty （150） successful entrepreneurs was the respondent of this study and they were survey and interviewed about their actual leadership style and practices. The research design was qualitative-descriptive type of research with the use of the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire 5X （MLQ 5X） as the survey instrument to collect data regarding leadership styles of successful entrepreneurs. An interview guide questions was likewise utilized for validating the result of the study. An in-depth semi-structured interview was also conducted to 30 entrepreneurs from the 150 respondents. Findings of the study revealed that a successful entrepreneur exhibits a noticeably higher inclination toward transformational leadership and they consistently rated themselves higher in inspirational motivation for their leadership behavior. Therefore, the emerging leadership style of successful entrepreneurs is the transformational leadership and the leadership behavior that they frequently use is the inspirational motivation. Furthermore, the aimed of this study is to explore practices of transformational leadership behavior of successful entrepreneurs from entrepreneur＇s perspective.

Familial pancreatic cancer: Concept, management and issues

Familial pancreatic cancer (FPC) is broadly defined as two first-degree-relatives with pancreatic cancer (PC) and accounts for 4%-10% of PC. Several genetic syndromes, including Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, hereditary pancreatitis, hereditary breast-ovarian cancer syndrome(HBOC), Lynch syndrome, and familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), also have increased risks of PC, but the narrowest definition of FPC excludes these known syndromes. When compared with other familial tumors, proven genetic alterations are limited to a small proportion (<20%) and the familial aggregation is usually modest. However, an ethnic deviation (Ashkenazi Jewish>Caucasian) and a younger onset are common also in FPC. In European countries, "anticipation" is reported in FPC families, as with other hereditary syndromes; a trend toward younger age and worse prognosis is recognized in the late years. The resected pancreases of FPC kindred often show multiple pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (Pan IN) foci, with various K-ras mutations, similar to colorectal polyposis seen in the FAP patients. As with HBOC patients, a patient who is a BRCA mutation carrier with unresectable pancreatic cancer (accounting for 0%-19% of FPC patients) demonstrated better outcome following platinum and Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor treatment. Western countries have established FPC registries since the 1990 s and several surveillance projects for highrisk individuals are now ongoing to detect early PCs. Improvement in lifestyle habits, including non-smoking, is recommended for individuals at risk. In Japan, the FPC study group was initiated in 2013 and the Japanese FPC registry was established in 2014 by the Japan Pancreas Society.

Venture capital in Japan and enlightenment to China

In the business world, there have always been people are willing to start business, and other people are willing to back them and share the risks and rewards of enterprises, so in a sense, there has always been entrepreneurship and venture capital （VC）. Despite of Japanese VC has gone through ups and downs, Japanese VC continues to lead Asia and is second only to U.S. Japanese government has recognized the economic benefits of fostering the creation and development of venture finns, and has applied themselves assiduously to the task of creating a supportive environment. This paper provides some context for understanding the Japanese venture capital industry. Then it set forth an evolution of Japanese venture capital. The heart of the paper is devoted to discussion of the key features of Japanese venture capital. This includes information concerning the size of the industry, the players, and the nature of the Japanese venture capital investment. This is followed by an analysis of some of the obstacles to a more vibrant Japanese venture capital industry which gives us some enlightenment to Chinese venture capital development now. This paper also shows that the relative of the US, the Japanese venture capital industry is a young, small industry. In a word, it shows that there is still a substantial space for further development, which makes VC is still a promising industry in Japan.

Research on Tax Preference Policy of Venture Capital

In the last few decades, the economy increased rapidly, but the rapid growth is at the cost of high consumption of resources and high pollution of environment. It is imperative to transform the economic growth pattern. Tax policy relating to venture capital is very important to build innovative country and encourage the development of venture capital. Based on the background, the paper researches the tax preference policy of venture capital in developed countries and in our country, and draws relevant conclusions.

Investigation on the Degradation of Natural Heritage of Singing Sand Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring at Dunhuang City, China

The main purpose of this study is to put forward a reasonable idea of the general protection for Singing Sand Moun- tain and Crescent Moon Spring, a rare and unique desert wonder, and of sustainable tourism development based on the research on the ecological environment around. Methods of documentation, case study and comparison were employed. Finally, aiming at solving the problems of natural environment and those existing after the exploitation of Singing Sand Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring the author puts forward three measures: the com- prehensive treatment for Crescent Moon Spring (broadening re- sources of water and reducing expenditures, checking the de- creasing depth of Crescent Moon Spring, and improving the geo- graphical environment), the general protection envisions for Singing Sand Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring and establish- ing a dynamic monitoring and early-warning system of regional ecosystem.

A Model of Fermion Masses and Flavor Mixings with Family Symmetry SU(3)U(1)

The family symmetry SU（3） U（1） is proposed to solve flavor problems about fermion masses and flavor mixings. It is breaking is implemented by some flavon fields at the high-energy scale. In addition a discrete group Z2 is introduced to generate tiny neutrino masses, which is broken by a real singlet scalar field at the middle-energy scale. The low-energy effective theory is elegantly obtained after all of super-heavy fermions are integrated out and decoupling. All the fermion mass matrices are regularly characterized by four fundamental matrices and thirteen parameters. The model can perfectly fit and account for all the current experimental data about the fermion masses and flavor mixings, in particular, it finely predicts the first generation quark masses and the values of θ13and JCp in neutrino physics. All of the results are promising to be tested in the future experiments.

Dust Diffusion Simulation in the Third Layer Construction of Underground Powerhouse

Under forced ventilation,the dust diffusion of underground powerhouse construction is investigated using a 3D high Reynolds number k-ε model.The interfacial momentum transfers and the wall roughness in the wall function are considered.Ventilation in the third layer of underground powerhouse of Xiangjiaba hydropower station is used as a case.The geometric structure has a decisive effect on the airflow distribution.It is concluded that the dust concentration decreases gradually with the increase of the ventilation time.However,iso-concentration curves have the same tendency after 1 800 s.The dust concentration meets the ventilation and dust-prevention health standard after 2 300 s.The prediction by the present model is confirmed by the experimental measurement by Nakayama.

Illness in the BrontE Sisters＇ Novels Alcoholism, Madness, and Civilization

Images of illness and disease, for example, cholera, consumption, rabies, rheumatism, fevers, alcoholism, hypochondria, hysteria, monomania, and madness, are present in all the seven novels written by the Bronte sisters during the years of 1847-1853. The lack of cures for most of these diseases which often led to death during the respective period seems to account for such literary representations of poor bodily conditions. The purpose of this paper is, however, to go beyond this handy and obvious explanation regarding illness in the BrontE sisters＇ novels and approach aspects such as： Victorian relationships between women and men, the condition of Victorian women in terms of social and domestic status, positions and roles, and rights and education in a patriarchal age. The novels that shall constitute the support for our analysis are The Tenant of Wildfell Hall （2001） by Anne Bronte, Jane Eyre （2001） by CharIotte Bronte, and Wuthering Heights （1985） by Emily Bronte.
