Thai teachers are aware that their students are not confident of their speaking abilities. That is why they try to avoid making mistakes in pronunciation and connected speech making as mistakes are taken as signs of inability. It is a common sight in an English class that Thai students prefer to remain in their comfort zone of using the Thai language. Speaking is a productive skill; teaching someone to speak cannot be successfully done through listening to the "how to" lecture. The author proposes that to dream a possible dream, the teachers need to change their course design to adopt the goals of English for communication and enhancement of soft skills such as networking skill, teamwork skill, self-management skill, creativity, and work attitude. An example of a course design used is discussed with the underlining learning theories for the course, the course organization, and the fruits of this endeavor. This course is adopting the "Teach Less and Learn More" approach, a route to take for real learning.展开更多

The objective of the proposed method is to find the steady state operation point in a power system which minimizes the fuel cost, while maintaining an acceptable system performance in terms of limits on generator power, line flow limits and voltage limits. In order to improvise the performance of the conventional PSO (cPSO), the fine tuning parameters- the inertia weight and acceleration coefficients are formulated in terms of global-local best values of the objective function. These global-local best inertia weight (GLBestlW) and global-local best acceleration coefficient (GLBestAC) are incorporated into PSO in order to compute the optimal power flow solution. The proposed method has been tested on the standard IEEE 30 bus test system to prove its efficacy. The results are compared with those obtained through cPSO. It is observed that the proposed algorithm is computationally faster, in terms of the number of load flows executed and provides better results than the conventional heuristic techniques.展开更多

Employability skills need to be checked rather than unemployment problem in India. The paper further aims to explore the necessary skills to the challenges of globalizing trends. The issues, approaches, and remedial strategies are focused with reference to the people's skills. As the reflections of quality and competence depend on transparency and accountability of the organization, it is necessary to improve the required skills which enhance the levels of confidence. The potential employer's requirements are need to be worked very keenly by the institutions. The paper also deals with the effective learning process, which is at par with global counter parts. Exposure to the universal student-centered learning is emphasized to enhance the very crucial pace of work place. Finally this paper studies effective micro and macro issues regarding the dynamics of the industry by applying a broad range of employability skills complementing the technical skills.展开更多

The permeability coefficient was obtained based on the pressure drop data and the Darcy's law. In three filtration experiments, pure carbon dioxide at 283 K, nitrogen at 85 K and liquid helium at 18 K are adopted, respectively. It is found that the permeability coefficient decreases at the working temperature due to the cold shrink of the filter element at cryogenic temperature. Then, two kinds of feed slurries, mixture of liquid nitrogen and solid carbon dioxide at 85 K, and mixture of liquid helium and solid nitrogen at 18 K, flow into the filter cell. The solid particles are deposited on the filter surface to form a filter cake and the purified liquid flows through the filter. It is found that the pressure drop evolution shows the same trend on these two temperatures, which can be divided into three stages with high filtration efficiency, indicating the feasibility of the filter for cryogenic application. However, variant cake resistances are obtained, which is resulted from the different interactions between solid particles in the feed slurry at lower working temperature.展开更多

Employee engagement is a positive mental state of employers; it can be used to measure affective, cognitive and behavioral aspects of the organization and work involvement, which embodies the people-oriented management thinking. Employee engagement has a positive and predictive effect on business performance, customer satisfaction, and employee well-being. Employee engagement directly affects individual behavior and business performance, and thus it determines the competitiveness of enterprises. This paper first discusses the academic definition of employee engagement, and then bases on the relevant theoretical models to analyze employee engagement mechanisms and factors influencing decisions, and finally proposes enterprises to enhance employee engagement of specific measures.展开更多
