Results were fitted to the Monod model. U. pertusa had a lower half_saturation constant and maximum growth rate, which were 0.016 μmol/L and 0.16 d -1 respectively, while the growth kinetics of T. subcordiformis were 0.021 μmol/L and 0.83 d -1 . Long_term semicontinuous nutrient competition experiments were performed between T. subcordiformis and U. pertusa under phosphate limitation in laboratory. Loss rates were manipulated to get the same or different resource requirement values ( R * ) of the two species. Comparison between the theoretical predictions derived from Monod kinetics and the outcome of competition experiments indicated that the Monod model could predict the results only when the R * values of the two species were significantly different, and T. subcordiformis displaced U. pertusa when they had the same resource requirements. The Monod model can only partly predict the competition results between microalga and macroalga.展开更多

However, CFA contains various beneficial metals and mineral matters whose demand is increasing in the industrialized world, while natural supplies are diminishing. Therefore, recovery of these potential resources from CFA can be an alternative way to save mineral resources, as well as to reduce the environmental burden of CFA disposal. There are numerous methods developed for the recovery of beneficial products from CFA. Based on the US patents and journal literatures, the present review describes the recovery status and technologies of major elements such as Al, Si, Fe and Ti, and trace elements such as V, Ga, Ge, Se, Li, Mo, U, Au, Ag, Pt groups and rare earth elements (REEs) and other beneficial products such as magnetic materials, cenospheres, and unburned carbon from CFA. It also highlights the recovery efficiency and drawbacks for their extraction, and suggests future research to develop satisfactory results in terms of selective recovery and purification.展开更多

Understanding the effects of vegetation biomass and seasonal change on soil microorganisms is vital to evaluate the soil quality and implement vegetation restoration. This study analyzed the soil phospholipid fatty acids(PLFAs) in fresh and withered Kudzu(Pueraria montana var. lobata) vegetation conditions in different seasons. The results showed that vegetation biomass and seasonal change significantly affected microbial biomass and its community structure. Both fresh and withered Kudzu cover significantly increased soil microbial biomass, and the growth effect of microbes in the soil with fresh Kudzu cover was more obvious than that with withered Kudzu cover. Compared with the dry season, the rainy season significantly increased the microbial biomass and the B/F(the ratio of bacterial to fungal PLFAs) ratio but dramatically reduced the G+/G-(the ratio of gram-positive to gram-negative bacteria PLFAs). Kudzu cover and seasonal change had a significant effect on microbial structure in soil covered by higher vegetation biomass. Furthermore, soil temperature and moisture had different correlations with specific microbial biomass in the two seasons. Our findings highlight the effect of Kudzu vine cover on the soil microenvironment and soil microhabitat, enhancing the soil quality in the Dry-hot Valley of Jinsha River, Southwest China.展开更多

The research on diversity is the key point for exploring and exploiting marine microbial resources. Giving attention to species diversity and genetic diversity of marine microbes, discovering novel metabolites with multiple functions, revealing key secondary metabolic process and the main regulation mechanisms in marine microbes, and developing a new technology of biosynthesis, are the important foundation for discovering innovative drugs and developing functional products with characteristics. The present paper has reviewed the recent advances in the four research areas of marine microbial species diversity, genetic diversity, chemical diversity and metabolic diversity in China.展开更多

The impact of human activities on marine bacteria was primarily studied and characteristics of bacteria communities in different areas were analyzed. A total of 396 strains were obtained. These strains belong to 4 phyla, 9 classes and 146 species according to 16S rDNA sequences alignment. For 32 strains, the 16S rDNA sequences similarities between isolated strains and their most closely related species were lower than 98%. The result indicated that there are abundant microbial diversity and a large number of unknown microbial resources in the East China Sea. Isolated strains were dominated byy-proteobacteria (64%), ct-proteobacteria (18%) and Firmicutes (15%). Actinobacteria and Bacteroidetes were less than 3%. Microbial community composition, diversity and abundance among areas with varies distances from land were different. The far the regions from the land, the lower the Shannon index (H') and the Margalef index (DMg) values were.展开更多

Battery energy storage units are essential for microgrid operation, which make microgird become a strong coupling system in the time domain. Hence, the traditional methods of static dispatch are no longer suitable for microgrids. This paper proposes a dynamic economic dispatch method for microgrids. Considering microgrid as a discrete time system, the dynamic economic dispatch is to find the optimal control strategy for the system in finite time period. Based on this idea, the dynamic economic dispatch model for microgrids is established, and then the corresponding dynamic programming algorithm is designed. Finally, an example of microgrid is given, and the dynamic economic dispatch results are compared with that of the static dispatch. The comparison confirms the effectiveness of the proposed dynamic dispatch method.展开更多

For this reason, this paper presents a preliminary study of the technical feasibility of wind power generation in Union Hidalgo, by a micro-study with a higher resolution than that used in Wind Resource Atlas of Oaxaea, published in April 2004. In this work, the wind map of Union Hidalgo was generated using the micro-scale model WAsP 9.1, with a resolution of 50 meters. Wind speed and direction data recorded at 15 m and 32 m agl (above ground level) over four years and seven months in a surface anemometer station were used. With Class 7 wind patterns, the results show values that justify the installation of wind turbines to produce electricity in the area. Estimated capacity factors (55% on average) are comparable with those obtained in wind power plants already operating in areas near Union Hidalgo and sites with high wind potential in other parts of the world. The topography of the study area is predominantly flat, and together with the directional behavior of the wind, which comes from the NNW 44% of the time, this favors the introduction of wind power plants in the area.展开更多
