An investigation into the current status of the game was conducted to determine the extent to which it is still played. Although results indicate that the game is still being played in the rural areas, it also shows that it is steeply decreasing in popularity. About 6.6% of respondents interviewed have never heard of the game, while about 77% have played, or still play the game. Overall 17% of all respondents, or 22% of those who have ever played, still play the game. About 26% of respondents are optimistic about the game surviving their generation. The decline in popularity is attributable to decreasing proportion of youths in rural areas due to rural-urban migration, emergence of computer games, and scarcity of the seeds. Cultivation of D. reflexa plant for the game, food and medicinal purposes is recommended.展开更多
A non-cooperative game model based on brittleness entropy is formulated for preventing cascading failure of complex systems.Subsystems of a complex system are mapped to the players of the game.The influence of collaps...A non-cooperative game model based on brittleness entropy is formulated for preventing cascading failure of complex systems.Subsystems of a complex system are mapped to the players of the game.The influence of collapsed subsystems to other subsystems is also taken into account in the definition of payoff function except for their own entropy increase.This influence is named brittleness entropy.Each player has two optional strategies;rational for negative entropy and irrational for negative entropy.The model is designed to identify the players who select an irrational strategy for negative entropy.The players who select the irrational strategy for negative entropy continue to compete for negative entropy after the recovery of ordered state and make other subsystems can' t get enough negative entropy to reduce entropy increase.It leads to cascading failure of the complex system in the end.Genetic algorithm is used to seek the solution of game model,and the simulation result verifies the effectiveness of the proposed model.The model provides a new way to prevent cascading failure of complex systems.展开更多

Holo Taiwan Residents Opera Troupe has produced a series of intercultural performances in Taiwan Residents Opera since the troupe adapted Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol's (1809-1852) The Government Inspector in 1996. In...Holo Taiwan Residents Opera Troupe has produced a series of intercultural performances in Taiwan Residents Opera since the troupe adapted Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol's (1809-1852) The Government Inspector in 1996. In fact, there is a huge controversy over these intercultural performances which fuse western drama with traditional Taiwan Residents performing art because such a kind of theatrical hybridity lacks the spirit of the original and damages the aesthetics of native performing art practice. In 2002, Holo adapted William Shakespeare's Hamlet into a six-hour-long performance, Tai Tzu Fu Chou (The Prince's Vengeful Plan), which the troupe tried to explore new source for traditional Taiwan Residents Opera and expected to bring something new to Taiwan Residents audience. However, The Prince's Vengeful Plan is considered "cultural collage" as well as an unsuccessful intercultural performance. Besides, The Prince's Vengeful Plan is accused to blaspheme Shakespeare because the performance merely maintains the frame of the original and distorts the spirit of the original. According to Rustom Bharucha, the most problematic aspect of intercultural performance is "de-historicizing tendency", and such a condition explains why Holo's The Prince's Vengeful Plan cannot transcend the original. In order to detect the problems of intercultural adaptation in Holo's The Prince Vengeful Plan, we cover the related issues in three aspects: (1) to discuss the development of Taiwan Residents Opera in Taiwan; (2) to explore the cultural conflicts when the text of the source culture is adapted into the performance of the target culture; and (3) to see how and why the spirit and aesthetics of Shakespeare's verses in Hamlet are distorted in Holo's theatrical adaptation. After that, we expect to conclude the impossibility of adapting Shakespeare's play into traditional Taiwan Residents Opera in the case of Holo's The Prince's Vengeful Plan.展开更多

Comput. 7 (2007) 111] in the...We study the behavior of cooperative multiplayer quantum games [Q. Chen, Y. Wang, J.T. Liu, and K.L. Wang, Phys. Lett. A 327 (2004) 98; A.P. Flitney and L.C.L. Hollenberg, Quantum Inf. Comput. 7 (2007) 111] in the presence of decoherence using different quantum channels such as amplitude damping, depolarizing and phase damping. It is seen that the outcomes of the games for the two damping channels with maximum values of decoherence reduce to same value. However, in comparison to phase damping channel, the payoffs of cooperators are strongly damped under the influence amplitude damping channel for the lower values of decoherence parameter. In the case of depolarizing channel, the game is a no-payoff game irrespective of the degree of entanglement in the initial state for the larger values of decoherence parameter. While the literature mainly focuses oil the minimal of such stable subspaces, this paper argues that non-minimal stable subspaces represent well the multi-agent situations to which neither Nash equilibrium nor rationalizability may be applied with satisfaction. As a theoretical support, the authors prove the optimal substructure of stable subspaces regarding the restriction of a game. It is further argued that the optimal substructure characterizes hierarchical diversity of coordination and interim phases in learning.展开更多
Quantum pseudo-telepathy(QPT)is a new type of game where the quantum team can win with certainty while the classical one cannot.It means the advantages of quantum participants over classical ones in game.However,there...Quantum pseudo-telepathy(QPT)is a new type of game where the quantum team can win with certainty while the classical one cannot.It means the advantages of quantum participants over classical ones in game.However,there has been no systematic and formal analysis on the QPT game before.Here we present the formal description of the QPT game and the definition of the most simplified QPT.Based on the above definitions,we simplify a famous QPT game,i.e.the Cabllo game.Then,according to some instances,we analyze the minimum best success probability by classical strategies of the two-player QPT,which reflects the advantage of the quantum strategies.Finally,we prove the best success probability by classical strategies for the most simplified QPT is totally related to the number of all possible question combinations.展开更多
The lifetimes for the states of magnetic dipole band in106Ag have been measured using the Doppler-shift attenuation method via the reaction of100Mo(11B,5n)106Ag at a beam energy of 60 MeV.The reduced transition streng...The lifetimes for the states of magnetic dipole band in106Ag have been measured using the Doppler-shift attenuation method via the reaction of100Mo(11B,5n)106Ag at a beam energy of 60 MeV.The reduced transition strengths of the magnetic dipole band,the B(M1)/B(E2)ratios together with the signature of the level energy as a function of angular momentum for the positive parity states of106Ag show that a drastic change of excitation mode,that is,from electric rotation to magnetic rotation,occurs within one unit of spin at around Iπ=12+.Theoretical calculations based on the triaxial projected shell model consistently reproduce the experimental data and provide an explanation on the nature of observed phenomena such that the dynamical drift of the rotational axis suddenly from the principal axis to the tilted one,along the positive parity bands of106Ag.展开更多
