It is much more frequent in Asian and Latin American countries than other part of the world. It typically affects nasal cavity. In China, one of its endemically places, ENKTCL accounts for 74%-96% of nasal NHL. Patients with ENKTCL usually show a highly aggressive clinical course, and its etiology is unclear. However, it is already proved that ENKTCL is associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection, regardless patients', ethnicity and areas. Some studies show that the risk will increase among several occupations, such as farmer, who are frequently exposure to pesticides and chemical solvent and risk can be cut down if taking some protective measures.展开更多

However, lipids can be utilized to produce meat-like flavorings through reaction with amino acids after degradation to carbonyls such as aldehydes and ketones. The fatty acids in chicken fat mainly comprise palmitic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid. After being heated at 120 ~C for 3 h, the degraded carbonyls of chicken fat were reacted with cysteine, alanine, glycine and thiamine to form a chicken-like flavoring. The key aromatic components of the flavoring were identified by GC-MS. In the overall volatile profile, 22 kinds of compound were detected, among which 2-furanmethanol was formed by the Maillard reaction, 1-(2-furanyl)-ethanone by cyclization and 2,4,6-trimethyl-l,3,5-trithiane by the Strecker degradation of cysteine. Dihydro-2-methyl-3(2H)-furanone, dihydro-2-methyl- 3(2H)-thiophenone, 2-acetyl-lH-pyrroline and 4-methyl-5-thiazoleethanol were the degradation products of thiamine. The prepared chicken flavoring was added to comminuted chicken product (CCP). GC-MS analysis and sensory evaluation showed that the flavor and odor of the CCP were greatly enhanced.展开更多

In 144 patients the ulcers showed a clean base, and in 46 the ulcers showed fiat spots and in 21 old adherent clots. The endpoints were re-bleeding, surgery, hospital stay, blood transfusion and death. After discharge, re-bleeding and death were reevaluated within 30 d.RESULTS: The study groups were similar with respect to baseline characteristics. Re-bleeding was recorded in 5 patients of Group 1 and in 4 patients of Group 2 (P = 0.879). Three patients in Group 1 and 2 in Group 2 underwent surgery (P = 0.773). The mean length of hospital stay was 4.6 ± 1.6 d in Group 1 vs 4.5 ± 2.6 d in Group 2 (P = 0.710); the mean amounts of blood transfusion were 1.9 ±1.1 units in Group 1 vs 2.1 ±1.7 units in Group 2 (P = 0.350). Four patients, two in each group died (P = 0.981). After discharge, a new bleeding occurred in 2 patients of Group 1 and in 1 patient of Group 2, and one patient from Group 1 died.CONCLUSION: We demonstrate that the effect of oral omeprazole is as effective as intravenous therapy in terms of re-bleeding, surgery, transfusion requirements, hospitalization and mortality in patients with bleeding ulcers with low risk stigmata. These patients can be treated effectively with oral omeprazole.展开更多

The 17 emerging stock markets and, for comparison, the U.S. stock market are investigated. A statistical method of dividing market states into bullish and bearish markets, based on monthly logarithmic returns of major stock market indexes, is employed. The analyzed sample period begins in January 2003 and ends in December 2013. As there is no unanimity in the literature about the crisis periods in the continent-based regions, a formal statistical identification of crises is worthwhile to conduct. Furthermore, the effect of increasing cross-market correlations in the crisis compared to the pre-crisis period in the context of contagion is examining. To address this issue, both standard contemporaneous cross-correlations and volatility-adjusted cross-correlations are applied. The results are consistent with the literature and confn'm that tests for contagion based on cross-market correlations are problematic due to the bias introduced by changing volatility in market returns. As contagion can be confused with globalization, the globalization tests in the group of international investigated markets are employed. The results generally do not confirm a global world market integration effect, i.e. there is no reason to reject the research hypothesis of no globalization during the 2007-2009 financial crisis.展开更多

In order to achieve this objective, it first reviews the literature on the internationalization of Chinese MNCs, the theoretical frameworks discussed in the literature and the principal features of companies from China. Second, it describes the economic and political relations between the countries, specifically the threats and opportunities for Latin America and the trade and investment trends. The review shows that the majority of the current literature on Chinese MNCs has a focus on their expansion to developed countries, on the conceptual framework needed to understand this expansion, and on the competition for foreign investments from developed countries. As a result, the analysis makes evident that research gaps seem to exist in the following areas: (1) the relative value of Chinese companies' existing advantages, (2) the sustainability of these advantages once the lead, probably given by OEMs or JVs, had been exhausted, (3) research works based on quantitative and comparative data, (4) the motives for FDI, (5) the entry mode, configuration, control and strategy of Chinese companies investing in Latin America, and (6) the potential opportunities presented to European companies operating in Latin America.展开更多

The results here shown correspond to the first stage of a research that relates poverty to countries' economic productivity. The article presents foreign trade, economic growth, and social inequality overview in the countries of the Andean Community of Nations during the years 1999-2006. In considering this period, the last international crisis is overlooked, but it takes in account the importance of the Millennium Development Goals set by the UNDP. The analysis of the basic indicators reflects that the dynamics of economic integration and foreign trade do not translate into better social equality and poverty reduction. This paper shows an economic and social contrast obtained from the results by countries of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) during the years 1999-2006, comprised by Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Venezuela, though the last country is not currently part of CAN. These indicators are exports, imports, relative commercial balance, gross domestic product, gross domestic product per capita, unemployment, GINI index, population, urban development index, and poverty. The paper presents a succinct conceptual framework where the relationship between foreign trade and social inequality is established, from which the description and analysis of the proposed indicators is formulated, permitting the establishing of an apparent practical connection between economic behavior and social results from the CAN countries.展开更多

This question determines the historical-systematic presentation of important philosophical approaches in the 20th century in the Spanish speaking part of Latin America. Jos6 Marti's essay, "Our America" (1891), offers the essential topics of Latin American philosophy (liberation, literal plurality, continental and national identity, anti-positivistic emotionalism and intuitionalism, mestizo-philosophy, indigenous wisdom, unity of universal and regional principles, social-practical, ethical and intercultural orientation). These topics are paradigmatically outlined by means of the portraits of pioneering poets, philosophers, and traditions of Latin America. The most convincing approach of the present seeks for an intercultural formatting and performance of philosophical issues, which includes a sensibility for the hybrid character of many Latin American realities and the attempt to identify universal insights in local traditions. Latin American intercultural philosophy avoids relativism and relies on discovering and developing communal ethical standards which link cultures.展开更多

This paper examines, first, the possible contribution Brazil and other Latin American societies could give to the world, helping to shape an ideal of democracy more open to what we will call democratic affectivity, which would replace a too rational view of politics; and, then, the importance of China and other nations that due to their cultural identities, wealth, population, and territory, but above all their political will, can negotiate the terms of their globalization, fundamentally changing the ways it has been conceived of in the years after 1989.展开更多
