But the specific sequences known were quite limited. To investigate maize B chromosome sqicific DNA sequeces, maize genomes with and without B chromosomes were analyzed by AFLP. Only 5 markers were found specific to genomes with B chromosomes among about 2000 AFLP markers. Southern hybridization and sequence analysis revealed that only the sequence of M8-2D was a B chromosome specific sequence. This sequence contained the telomeric repeat unit AGGGTTT conserved in plant chromosome telomeres. In addition, the sequence of M8-2D shared low homology to clones from maize chromosome 4 centromere as well. M8-2D were localized to B chromosome centrorneric and telomeric regions.展开更多

And all the images thus obtained were subject to image-processing, which consisted of preliminary location of bands, cooperative tracking of lanesby correlation of adjacent bands, a precise densitometric pass, alignment at the marker bands with the standard, optional interactive editing, and normalization of the accepted bands. The contigs were generated based on the Computer Software specially designed for genome map ping. The number of contigs with 600 kb in length on average was 464; of contigs with 1000 kb in length on average was 107; of contigs with 1500 kb in length on average was 23. Therefore, all the contigs we have obtained amounted up to 420 megabases in length. Considering the size of rice genome (430 megabased), the contigs generated in this lab have covered nearly 98% of the rice genome. We are now in the process of mapping the contigs to chromosomes.展开更多

Fingerprint minutiae data and the cryptographic key are merged together by a multivariable linear function. First, the minutiae data are bound by a set of random data through the linear function. The number of the function’s variables is determined by the required number of matched minutiae. Then, a new key de- rived from the random data is used to encrypt the cryptographic key. Lastly, the binding data are protected using fuzzy vault scheme. The proposed scheme provides the system with the flexibility to use changeable number of minutiae to bind/recover the protected key and a unified method regardless of the length of the key.展开更多

At present, fingerprinting technology has moved away from its forensic roots and is incorporating a broader scientific range, e.g., material science, spectroscopy and spectral analysis, and even in vitro diagnosis. After a brief introduction to latent fingerprints, this mini-review presents the pioneering progresses of fingerprinting technologies including(i) material and electrochemical techniques, and(ii) spectral and spectroscopy imaging techniques and immunological techniques capable of both the visualization of a fingerprint and the detection of chemicals present in it. Finally, perspectives on this rapidly developing field are discussed.展开更多

The catchment has a drainage area of 0.054 km2. The average 137Cs contents of the top and peak layers in five cores of the depression bottom (with an area of 2652 m2), collected in 2009, were 2.35 and 7.25 Bq kg-1, respectively. The medium depths in the depression (which ranged between 84 cm and 113.5 cm with a mean value of 92.1 cm) showed the presence of sediments deposited in 1979. The total volume and weight of the deposited sediments since 1979 were estimated to be 1965 m3 and 2496 t, respectively. The depression bottom can be treated as a temporary impoundment and its sediment trapping efficiency was estimated to be 0.7. The relevant average soil erosion rate on the hillslopes was 2315 t km-2 yr-1 since 1979. The mean 137Cs inventory of the five cores was 7693 Bq m-2, which was ~10 times the local reference inventory of 782 Bq m-2. The total 137Cs activity of the sediments in the bottom was 20.4×106 Bq, and the relevant 137Cs inventory loss from the hillslopes was 358 Bq m-2 (since 1954), which accounted for 45.8% of the reference inventory. As soil erosion was not severe before and after the period of deforestation and following cultivation in 1979-1990, the erosion rates on the hillslopes could potentially reach 7000 t km-2 yr-1.展开更多

With the rapid development of fingerprint identification techniques, many fingerprint identification systems are in urgent need to deal with large-scale fingerprint storage and high concurrent recognition queries, which bring huge challenges to the system. In this circumstance, we design and implement a distributed and load-balancing fingerprint identification system named Pegasus, which includes a distributed feature extraction subsystem and a distributed feature storage subsystem. The feature extraction procedure combines the Hadoop Image Processing Interface(HIPI) library to enhance its overall processing speed; the feature storage subsystem optimizes MongoD B's default load balance strategy to improve the efficiency and robustness of Pegasus.Experiments and simulations are carried out, and results show that Pegasus can reduce the time cost by 70% during the feature extraction procedure. Pegasus also balances the difference of access load among front-end mongos nodes to less than 5%. Additionally, Pegasus reduces over 40% of data migration among back-end data shards to obtain a more reasonable data distribution based on the operation load(insertion, deletion, update, and query) of each shard.展开更多
