Background: To understand an effective golf swing, both swing speed and impact precision must be thoroughly and simultaneously examined. The aim of this study was to perform both swing speed test and impact precision test to ascertain what swing type determines an effective impact. Methods: Seven golfers from a college team (handicap: 0--12) were recruited to complete a swing speed test and impact precision test using a 5-iron club, A force plate and electromyography (EMG) system were used to collect data in the swing speed test to compare the difference between two motion sequences. High speed video cameras were used to determine the displacement of rotation center for impact precision test. Results: The results showed a significant difference (p 〈 0.01) in clubhead speed with different motion sequences and muscle contraction patterns. In the impact precision test, the displacement of the rotation center which defined as the inner center point of the C7 was significantly different (p 〈 0.05) between different ball impacted marks on club face. Conclusion: The vertical peak ground reaction force on left foot occurring before impact and the left latissimus dorsi contracting prior to the right pectoralis major represent a superior skill by allowing the club to strike the ball with normal collision at a faster speed. 展开更多

Twin-rotor cylinder-embedded piston engine is proposed for dealing with the sealing problems of rotors in twin-rotor piston engine where the existent mature sealing technologies for traditional reciprocating engine can be applied. The quantity and forms of its sealing surfaces are reduced and simplified, and what's more, the advantages of twin-rotor piston engine are inherited, such as high power density and no valve mechanism.Given the motion law of two rotors, its kinematic model is established, and the general expression for some parameters related to engine performance, such as the trajectory, displacement, velocity and acceleration of the piston and centroid trajectory, angular displacement, velocity and acceleration of the rod are presented.By selecting different variation patterns of relative angle of two rotors, the relevant variables are compared. It can be concluded that by designing the relative angle function of two rotors, the volume variation of working chamber can be changed. However,a comprehensive consideration for friction and vibration is necessary because velocity and acceleration are quite different in the different functions, the swing magnitude of rod is proportional to link ratio λ,and the position of rod swing center is controlled by eccentricity e.In order to reduce the lateral force,a smaller value of λ should be selected in the case of the structure, and the value of e should be near 0.95.There is no relationship between the piston stroke and the variation process of relative angle of two rotors, the former is only proportional to the amplitude of relative angle of two rotors. 展开更多

An experimental study investigated the characteristics of a stretched cylindrical diffusion flame, with a convex curvature with respect to the air stream, in response to periodic air flow velocity oscillation. The fuel was methane diluted with nitrogen, and the oxidizer air. The oscillation frequency was varied from 5 to 250 Hz. The results are summarized as follows. Though the fluctuation amplitude of the air stream velocity gradient was constant with respect to the frequency, the amplitude of the fuel stream increased. The fluctuation amplitude of the flame radius changed quasi-steadily from 5 to 25 Hz, and decreased with increasing frequency in the frequency range greater than 50 Hz. The flame luminosity did not respond quasi-steadily at 5 Hz, and the oscillation amplitude of flame luminosity was less than that of a steady flame, over the same velocity fluctuation range. The oscillation amplitude of luminosity peaked at 50 Hz, and was greater than that of a steady flame. It is considered that this complex change in flame luminosity with respect to frequency was closely related to the phase difference in the respective time variations in the ratio of flame thickness to radius, the velocity gradients of the air and fuel streams, and the magnitude of these values, with the ratio of flame thickness to radius related to the flame curvature effect, the velocity gradient of the air stream correlated to the flame stretch effect, and the velocity gradient of the fuel stream impacting the fuel transportation. 展开更多

In this study, we analyzed the swing motions of more experienced practitioner and new practitioner of iaido players by using tri-axial acceleration sensor and gyro sensor. Iaido is a modern Japanese martial art/sport. In this way, the acceleration and gyro sensor measurement enabled detailed motion information at the installation points to be displayed in a short time, thus making it possible to easily extract the objective problems. Although it was not possible to confirm by the acceleration and angular velocity measurements the detailed motion of the entire body as obtained in the 2D motion analysis with a high-speed camera, it was confirmed that the acceleration and gyro sensor is an evaluation means that can be installed easily and can provide the exercise information in a short time as an objective index. 展开更多
