Based on the investigation literature of the scientific data services in the university libraries in the United States, the development process of the scientific data is analyzed from three aspects of the service types, the service mode and the service contents. The author of this paper also proposes opportunities and challenges from 5 aspects of the policy support. strengthening the publicity, the self learning, the self positioning and relying on the embedded subject librarians, to promote the development of the library scientific data services.展开更多

The study has a wide range of practical significance for the inheriting, spreading, designing and applying visual elements of Guangxi ethnic minorities ---graphics.展开更多

Using an interview study, the author focuses on understanding the students' perspectives in relation to the label of model minority. The purpose of the study is to investigate how social, academic, and economic factors affect these students, including different outcomes in terms of school achievement and self-identity formation. The findings aim to help urban educators approach complex factors regarding minority students' educational opportunities. Comprehensive results identified that: (1) The concept of model minority significantly affects Asian American students at all levels of daily life; (2) Urban schools continue reinforcing social reproduction and producing perceptions based on socioeconomic background and intersectional discrimination; (3) The evidence in the study shows that school environments do not aid students in valuing their cultural capital; (4) Students from different social classes present different linguistic and behavioral patterns; and (5) Social stratification significantly influences students' perspectives in response to the Asian stereotype, self-identity, and racial hierarchy in school and society.展开更多

Scholars from post-colonial nations like Canada, India, China, Africa, and Latin America have argued that translation was used in the past as a means of depriving the colonised people of their voice. In the colonial structure, the hegemonic culture used to dominate, making the others subservient. Translation in the colonial period reflected that hierarchy. In this light, decades after the independence of India, translation from a reverse direction, that is, rendering popular English texts in minority languages, may be seen as a process of"writing back". Even if the original text concerned is not a "political" writing, and the translation is apparently meant for "safer-zones" such as "young students' literature", a tendency of claiming cultural equality, overlapping the translator's own cultural and literary heritage with the original author's, can be discovered. This paper attempts to focus on these issues in a particular text—the 1995 Bengali translation of Marie Corelli's 1921 science-fiction, The Secret Power. The purpose of this paper is to explore how Sudhindranath Raha has intermingled Biblical references and Western contexts with allusions to Indian culture and Sanskrit literature, thereby claiming a space for mutual understanding and respect between two cultures.展开更多
