为了揭示新学科的孕育和运动规律,加速新学科的创生和发展,运用历史分析法、推理法和归纳法等,开展新学科孕育和发展规律的基础理论研究。通过分析学科和“学科”学的定义与内涵,提出“新学科”学的新定义及其主要研究任务,阐述新学科的创生条件和创生阶段的研究程式,归纳了18种新学科的孕育模式和创生新学科的5类常用研究方法,并比较了有无“新学科”学催生的学科发展演化周期。研究结果充实了“新学科”学的学科理论,为“新学科”学的发展发挥了积极促进作用。

English Forum on Medical Humanities of SMMU:An interdisciplinary innovative teaching practice

To conform to the college English teaching reform from English for General Purposes (EGP) to English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in the vital transfer era, the Foreign Language Department of Second Military Medical University (SMMU) launched an English for Medical Academic Purpose (EMAP) curriculum with English Forum on Medical Humanities (EFMH), a project-based teaching practice. Based on Rogers' learner-centered humanistic teaching approach which emphasizes students' involvement and experiences in learning, EFMH puts students and their practice in a central place. After four-year exploration and operation, the Forum has developed from a small-scaled embryo into an internationalized, standardized and professionalized event, having produced fruitful outcomes. It is expected that the success of EFMH will provide inspiring experiences and enlightenments for higher medical education in terms of academic English teaching and teachers' responsibilities to foster high-quality medical students.

Fusing the Postmodern and the Gothic to Rebirth Buried Child as the New Frankenstein

A multi-genre and interdisciplinary analysis that compares Sam Shepard＇s classic, Buried Child （1978）, to Mary Shelley＇s Gothic thriller, Frankenstein （2004）. This paper, using a comparative analysis of the texts （a play versus a novel）, argues that Shepard follows Shelley＇s theme and characters in order to frame and create his own even-more modern ＂Prometheus＂, a premise that Shelley borrows to center her novel and to establish the antagonistic origins of her monster-man. Shepard＇s splintered individuals all share a postmodern disillusionment, and as Shelley＇s novel establishes, it is a conflict brought on by an absent or emotionally-removed mother and a brutal father who denies or disavows the ＂child＂ he considers an abomination. Other themes that Shelley and Shepard＇s works have in common include infanticide, incest, a life built on lies, patricide, and an unnatural relationship with Nature.

Three Academic Problems on Music Iconography in China： Direction, Position, and Path

As an emerging discipline which interrelates with musicology and iconology, the Music Iconography in China is still at the beginning stage. In the past 30 years, its research methods have been the focus of debate in regard to its academic direction, academic position, and academic path. These three ＂academic problems＂ should be paid attention because they not only sustain our current research and construction of Music Iconography＇s future and destiny, but also become major theoretical and practical issues. The author advocates that the academic direction should maintain highly consistent with the reality of China, as well as the academic practice. In order to guarantee the academic direction and academic position, we should adopt the academic path from these two aspects： ＂the horizontal logic＂ and ＂the longitudinal logic＂

Synthesis of Humin-based Carbon Quantum Dots and Luminescent Properties

The unique properties of carbon quantum dots （CQDs） make them promising materials in many ？elds. Herein, we present a facile method for the preparation of photo-luminescent CQDs using humins as the carbon precursor for the purpose of providing a high value-added solution for this “biomass conversion process waste”. The structure of the CQDs was analyzed, and the effects of reaction temperature and time on the CQDs’ ？uorescence were investigated. The results showed that humins were effectively carbonized during the reaction. The ？uorescence intensity of humin-based CQDs initially increased with reaction temperature and time, and subsequently decreased beyond 200℃ and 4 h. Polyaromatic structures and hydrophilic groups such as O-H, C-O, -COOH and C==O groups exist in the CQDs. The humin-based CQDs have the dimension of 3~7 nm with an average size of about 5.5 nm. The highest emission intensity of blue/cyan ？uorescence light at 440 nm is achieved on the excitation with UV light at the wavelength of 330 nm.

Human Rights and Nanotechnologies： Limits and Possibilities Between Technological Innovation and Rights of the Human

Nanotechnology currently represents one of the most fascinating human discoveries. With creativity, nanotechnology looks for increasingly smaller spaces in nature to meet the needs and interests of the individuals and of the society. Considering that the researches aim to create techniques to move and combine atoms and molecules, a question arises, how will these atoms and molecules behave in the new arrangement. This is the great challenge and this article attempts to bring some benefits to the subiect. It also intends to bring the human sciences, particularly law, to the scenery of this scientific revolution. The lack of regulatory frameworks does not allow humans to search and produce anything without limits. Thus, human rights should be considered an ethical foundation for nanotechnology discoveries, as they represent the ＂rights＂ that, at least, humans should have respected.

How Do Physicists Create Time？

In the first part of this paper, different perspectives of time proposed in Aristotle＇s philosophy of nature, classic mechanics, thermodynamics, and the theory of relativity, will be presented. Later on, we explore the phenomenological approach of duration by Henri Bergson and Mauro Dorato＇s naturalistic proposal, which defines the ＂present＂ moment based on neuroscientific experiments. In the second part of the paper, the topic of scientific creativity is introduced, paying particular attention to David Bohm＇s ideas. Liu Shih-Hao:Pioneer of translational medicine in China

Editorial comment Translational medicine is a new discipline which aims to eliminate the barrier between preclinical and clinical medicine. Here, Dr. Li discusses the application of translational medicine in the research, teaching and clinical work of Prof. Liu Shih-Hao, the founder of endocrinology in China, who was particularly renowned for his early work in calcium and phosphorus metabolism. Systematic Innovation,Comprehensive Development and Going Global:Some Thoughts on the Construction of an Innovation System for Philosophy and Social Sciences in China during the “12 th Five-year Plan” Period

In the past three decades, the great practice of intellectual emancipation and reform and opening up in China has given rise to five achievements in philosophical and social science innovation, opening a new era of theoretical innovation. The 12th Five-year Plan period （2011-2015） will witness the arrival of a new stage of systematic innovation in philosophical and social science research： innovation in individual opinions and conclusions will develop into innovation in fi.mdamental theories, theoretical systems and methodologies; the innovation of individual disciplines and perspectives will give way to the rise of new groups of subjects and to innovation based on synthesized and interdisciplinary studies; and disorderly competition will be replaced by orderly progress. As an important component in the construction of an innovative nation, the building of an innovation system and innovation capacity is as important in philosophy and social sciences as in their counterpart, the natural sciences; they are like the two wings of a bird or two wheels of a cart. Our innovation plan for philosophy and social sciences should strengthen ＂national consciousness,＂ establish ＂national aims＂ and launch ＂national projects.＂ Systematic innovation, comprehensive development and going global constitute the basic tasks of contemporary Chinese philosophy and social sciences.

Thoughts on Innovation in Mainstream Ideology Research

Mainstream ideology is closely related with the innovation system of Chinese philosophy and social sciences. Innovation in mainstream ideology research is of theoretical and practical significance to contemporary China, and constitutes a precondition for the establishment of an innovation system of Chinese philosophy and social sciences. Innovation in mainstream ideology research involves three important aspects. First, we should innovate mainstream ideology research in terms of the pattem of civilizations, that is, to grasp the historical continuity and cultural identity of mainstream ideology and oppose historical nihilism and revivalism. Second, we should adopt an inclusive approach to mainstream ideology research to bring in different perspectives and enrich the content of research, and to optimize its guiding role and overcome both ideological arrogance and ideological aphasia. And third, we must be open-minded in carrying out a comparative analysis of mainstream ideologies of other countries. In exchanges with and learning from other countries, we should protect the safety of mainstream Chinese ideology and avoid both self-contained isolationism and a blind worship of foreign things. In this way, we can develop a new ideological culture that is worthy of our times.
