论英语词典编纂与群体文化误读——从“旧瓶装新酒”谈起

“旧瓶装新酒”在汉语中是中性的,泛指旧形式表现新内容,也可以用作褒义,表示创造性。英语中“to put new wine in old bottles”却表示强求思想僵化的人接受新观念的“不明智”之举。两者皆源自于《圣经》,而且设喻形象相同,但语义已经不等值,然而大多数英语词典依然将它们等同起来,造成群体的文化误读。词典编纂应该与时俱进,及时勘误,以避免群体的文化误读。

文艺理论界常将传统旧形式对现代社会新内容的不适应症尊为"旧瓶装新酒"。现代川剧艺术在改革中也遇上了这个问题。新中国成立以来,几代川剧人都在努力,要为现代"新酒"打造一个"新瓶"。他们的努力主要从"转变川剧文学叙事方式"、"解决传统川剧音乐格式带来的词曲格律固化问题"、"变‘场’为‘幕’、‘场’结合"等方面展开。
