The luminance in the road tunnel threshold zone attracts broad attention due to its enormous energy consumption and direct influence on tunnel transportation security.Current lighting design methods in threshold zones...The luminance in the road tunnel threshold zone attracts broad attention due to its enormous energy consumption and direct influence on tunnel transportation security.Current lighting design methods in threshold zones mostly adopt the reduction coefficient method.However,the determination of reduction coefficient k simply considers tunnel design speed and flow rate,while excluding outside tunnel luminance and threshold zone color temperature and luminance,which have a major impact on driver visual adaptation.Existing problems in the determination of k value are analyzed;a visual performance experiment is utilized;and the reaction time of drivers in changeable outside tunnel luminance and threshold zone color temperature and luminance conditions is obtained;thus,the equations concerning reduction coefficient variation law are derived.In the end,a comparative analysis is made of the k values of the reduction coefficient stipulated by various norms under different color temperature conditions.展开更多
This paper proposes a night-time vehicle detection method using variable Haar-like feature.The specific features of front vehicle cannot be obtained in road image at night-time because of light reflection and ambient ...This paper proposes a night-time vehicle detection method using variable Haar-like feature.The specific features of front vehicle cannot be obtained in road image at night-time because of light reflection and ambient light,and it is also difficult to define optimal brightness and color of rear lamp according to road conditions.In comparison,the difference of vehicle region and road surface is more robust for road illumination environment.Thus,we select the candidates of vehicles by analysing the difference,and verify the candidates using those brightness and complexity to detect vehicle correctly.The feature of brightness difference is detected using variable horizontal Haar-like mask according to vehicle size in the location of image.And the region occurring rapid change is selected as the candidate.The proposed method is evaluated by testing on the various real road conditions.展开更多
Taking the affinity between events and media as a conceptualization base, a total of 1032 related news re-ports of Expo '99 Kunming, gathered from the internet data bank of China INFOBANK from 1992 to 2003, are us...Taking the affinity between events and media as a conceptualization base, a total of 1032 related news re-ports of Expo '99 Kunming, gathered from the internet data bank of China INFOBANK from 1992 to 2003, are used as data sources. After classifying them with a communication research method-the content analysis, a data bank for SPSS is set up, and a mathematic model called the Integrated Impact Index of Expo '99 Kunming is constituted. With the model, the spatial distribution of the total integrated impacts of Expo '99 Kunming on the regions or cities with different regional scales is analysed quantitatively. The conclusions are: 1) the Expo '99 Kunming made obvious integrated impacts on the regions or cities of every scale, especially in the venue city and the region-Kunming City and Yunnan Province; 2) it had corresponding impacts on other provinces; 3) the spatial distribution of Integrated Impact Index had a disaggregation with both plane extension and spotted decentralization; and 4) there was a distance decay law in all three scales of regions (Kunming City, Yunnan Province and the whole China), which incarnated the spatial extension law of the integrated impact of a special mega-event.展开更多
