Objectives:Effective and efficient communication is a core element in healthcare systems,especially between healthcare providers and patients.This study aimed to identify communication barriers be-tween nurses and patients in primary healthcare centers in Bahrain.Methods:This is a cross-sectional study conducted across primary healthcare centers in Bahrain.Four hundred and two patients were recruited using convenience sampling.A self-administered question-naire comprising 29 items on communication barriers was used.Results:A total of 402 patients consented to participate.The majority of participants reported the following statements had large effects on communication:“shortage in the number of nurses compared to the large number of patients”(254/401,63.3%),“lack of desire of nurse to communicate with patients”(246/402,61.2%),and“negative attitude of the nurse toward the patient”(238/401,59.4%).Further,“difference in language between nurses and patients,”“lack of self-confidence by nurses,”and“nurses overwhelmed by work”were ranked as top three statements with a significant influence on commu-nication between nurses and patients.Conclusions:Communication between healthcare providers and patients is pivotal for an optimal healthcare service.Based on the findings of this study and the literature,we recommend formal training of health care workers in improving communication skills and including this not only in medical cur-riculum but also in the form of continuing medical education(CMEs)1. 展开更多

Based on the temperature of the black body (TBB),station observed and NCEP reanalysis data,the impacts of the eastward propagation of convective cloud systems over the Tibetan Plateau on the southwest vortex (SWV) formation that occurred at 1800 UTC on 29 June 2003 are analyzed by using the Zwack-Okossi (Z-O) equation to diagnose the thermal and dynamic processes.It is found that,in summer,severe convective activities often occur over the Tibetan Plateau due to the abundant supply of moisture.The convective cloud near the east edge of the plateau could move eastward with a shortwave trough in the westerly.The divergent center that is induced by latent heat release,which is associated with severe convective activities,moves out with the convective cloud and contributes to the low level decompression which is favorable for the formation of plateau edge cyclogenesis (PEC).The Z-O equation indicates that,in this case,the latent heat release and convergence are the two most important factors for SWV formation,which amounts to about 42% and 15% of the term TOTAL,respectively.It is implied that the thermal process effect was more important than the dynamic process during SWV formation. 展开更多

Due to the rapid development of mobile Internet services, such as Skype and WeChat, traditional telecom services have suffered a large decline in the business volumes in recent years. Thus, telecom operators pay much attention to analyzing the changes of the enterprise performance, in order to adjust market strategies in time. In this paper, we propose a new methodology to analyze the operation data of telecom operators dynamically,which can characterize the changing process of the operating states and predict the developing trends. In particular, the proposed methodology contains two steps: migration pattern analysis and trajectory pattern analysis.Firstly, migration analysis is based on the changing of operating states between two points-in-time, which is referred to as the migration paths. Applying the clustering analysis to the migration paths can obtain the migration patterns, which characterize the changing feature of telecom operators during a short period, e.g. one month. Secondly, we combine a sequence of consecutive migration paths to obtain the migration trajectory. Through analyzing different trajectories based on the hierarchical cluster method and the Markov chain model, we obtain the trajectory patterns,which describe the changing progress during a relatively long period, e.g. one year. Based on the trajectory patterns, we can predict the possible performance changes. Finally, we apply the proposed method to a Chinese telecom operator for an empirical research, and has obtained a lot of development rules which provides insights into current telecom. 展开更多

In 2012, 92 Administrative, Technical and Service Staff (ATS S) grievances (unresolved departmental conflicts) were referred to the Industrial Relations arm of the HR division of the UWI St Augustine Campus. Of these trade disputes, 52 cases were "resolved" and 10 unresolved cases were referred to the Ministry of Labor. In 2009, 692 disputes from various organizations nationally were lodged at the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago--781 in 2010, 778 in 2011 and at September 25th, 2012, 566 were filed (Swamber, 2012). Vincent Cabera, president of the Banking, Insurance and General Workers Union, expressing his grave concern about these statistics cited inter alia, noted that "work stoppages that currently persist in society owed to the malfunctioning of the industrial relations system of the twin island". Legitimate members of the Recognized Majority Union (RMU), who have within the past year at the Campus experienced unresolved conflicts at the departmental level that progressed to trade disputes will be eligible to participate and electronically administered a semi-structured questionnaire developed to determine the frequency and causes of unresolved conflict, their perceptions of its handling, as well as Form A of the Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory II (ROCI-II) (Rahim, 1983) to classify the conflict management style of their Heads of departments. 展开更多

Meanwhile by introducing the incentive theory and methods, cruise service talents incentive elements be identified and then establishing in accordance with incentive models. P2P traffic has always been a dominant portion of Internet traffic since its emergence in the late 1990s. The method used to accurately classify P2P traffic remains a key problem for Internet Service Producers (ISPs) and network managers. This paper proposes a novel approach to the accurate classification of P2P traffic at a fine-grained level, which depends solely on the number of special flows during small time intervals. These special flows, named Clustering Flows (CFs), are de- fined as the most frequent and steady flows generated by P2P applications. Hence we are able to classify P2P applications by detecting tlle appearance of corresponding CFs. Com- pared to existing approaches, our classifier can realise high classification accuracy by ex- ploiting only several generic properties of flows, instead of extracting sophisticated fea- tures from host behaviours or transport layer data. We validate our framework on a large set of P2P traffic traces using a Support Vector Machine (SVM). Experimental results show that our approach correctly classifies P2P ap- plications with an average true positive rate of above 98% and a negligible false positive rate of about 0.01%. 展开更多

Objective:This study explored the approaches for community-based flood disaster management for older adults in Southern Thailand.It sought to understand community culture for supporting older adults and promoting community strength in case of flood disaster.Method:This was a qualitative content analysis study using data from observation,in-depth interviews,secondary data,and focus group discussion.One hundred and twenty-seven people in total were selected specifically for the study,including Local Administration Organization(LAO),community leaders,public sector officers,civil groups,and older adult groups and family caregivers.Results:The results of this study were two main themes,focusing on 1)approaches to community-based flood disaster management for older adults as follows:eight approaches in the phase of prevention and preparedness in flood disaster management for older adults,eight approaches in the phase of response in flood disaster management for older adults,and six approaches in the phase of recovery and rehabilitation in flood disaster management for older adults;and 2)factors contributing to success in flood disaster management for older adults has four factors,including the human factor,the work factor,the data factor,and the resource factor.Conclusion:The findings showed significant roles in improving the potential and strength in communitybased flood disaster management for older adults and providing suggestions for community nurses and health practice personnel involving in flood disaster management to mitigate the potential influence on older adults in the community. 展开更多

In traditional encounters, the research spectrum of service failure and recovery strategies is very much developed from a customer service approach and the responsibility of recovery has been traditionally assumed to be something that is assigned to the marketer. Studies pay little or no attention to the multidimensional nature of service failures contingent to recovery strategies in developing countries. To date, empirical studies have focused on service failures and recovery strategies in developed countries. Background: While mental health among collegiate athletes is receiving increased attention, research on factors surrounding collegiate athletes' decision to seek mental health services is limited. The goal of the present review was to analyze and synthesize the current literature concerning collegiate athletes' utilization of mental health services, including the facilitators of and barriers to use of these services.Methods: The analysis was guided and organized using a socio-ecological framework, which considered the unique context in which collegiate athletes study and perform. A total of 21 articles, published between 2005 and 2016, which concern U.S. collegiate athletes' mental health services utilization(MHSU) were selected and included for the final analysis. Conceptualizations and operationalizations of MHSU were compared and contrasted. Facilitators of and barriers to athletes MHSU were examined and summarized while appropriately considering the proximity of each factor(facilitator or barrier) to the athletes.Results: Results showed variations in conceptualizations and operationalizations of MHSU in the articles analyzed, which made interpretation and cross comparison difficult. Collegiate athletes are willing to utilize mental health services, but gender, perceived stigma, peer norms—for athletes and coaches—plus service availability impact their MHSU.Conclusion: Key stakeholders, administrators, and public health officials should partner to eliminate MHSU barriers, support facilitators, and generally empower collegiate athletes to actively manage their mental health. 展开更多

The status of civil servants in these networks is not obvious. On the one hand, the officials are surrounded by strict framework of regulations and law. They are not independent subjects of political decisions, but at the same time, they are the main sources of information needed for making political decisions. On the other hand, they actively interact with other actors of the political networks, including under informal conditions. In addition, high professional requirements for officials lead to the need of recruiting them into the elitist environment. Therefore, there often arises a conflict of interest due to their personal connections. Activating these links, officials are building patron-client relations, behaving as patrons for those who need to receive confidential information and as clients for the higher heads. Thus, civil servants use personal networks for carrying out their functions, and simultaneously use available official information for private gain. 展开更多
