Thermal sources from the reactor have strongly constrained the cycle configu...Brayton power cycles for fusion reactors have been investigated, using Helium in classical configurations and CO2 in a recompression layout. Thermal sources from the reactor have strongly constrained the cycle configurations, hindering use of a recuperator in Helium cycles and conditioning the outlet turbine temperature in CO2 ones. In both cycles, it is possible to take advantage of the exhaust thermal energy by coupling the Brayton to a Rankine cycle, with an organic fluid in the helium case (iso-butane has been investigated) and steam in the CO2 case. The highest efficiency achieved with Helium cycle is 38.5% using Organic Rankine Cycle and 32.6% with Helium alone. The efficiency changes from 46.7% using Rankine cycle to 41% with CO2 alone. The Helium cycle is highly sensitive to turbine efficiency and in a moderate way to compressor efficiency and pressure drops, being nearly insensitive to thermal effectiveness in heat exchangers. On the other hand, CO2 is nearly insensitive to all the parameters.展开更多

The applications during recent six yea...The ftrst numerical simulation code package WITRIM has been developed to calculate the tritium inventory distribution and time-evolution in all sub-systems of FEB fusion reactor. The applications during recent six years indicate that it is reasonable and fully admitted by colleagues abroad. Some creative papers with new concept are published. For instance, we first time pointed out a new phenomenon of "tritium well depth and tritium well time" during the fusion reactor start-up phase. This is somewhat similar to, but quite different from the "iodine well depth and iodine well time" poisoning problem during restart-up process of a fission reactor. The authors not only proposed but also numerically solved this new phenomenon. The combination of the SWITRIM code package, user's guide, and application example are briefly introduced in this article.展开更多
The effect of a novel active nucleating agent(TBC8-eb) on the isothermal crystallization of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) was studied by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(...The effect of a novel active nucleating agent(TBC8-eb) on the isothermal crystallization of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) was studied by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) . The analysis on kinetics demonstrates that TBC8-eb can not only accelerate the crystallization rate but also transform most of the original spherulite crystals of PLLA into sheaf-like crystals. Furthermore,the free energy of folding(σe) of PLLA and PLLA with TBC8-eb is 0.15 and 0.06 J·m-2,respectively,which suggests that the addition of TBC8-eb favors the regular folding of molecule chains in the crystallization of PLLA,improv-ing its crystallization rate. The FTIR results show that TBC8-eb can accelerate the conformational ordering of PLLA in the isothermal crystallization. The conformational ordering of PLLA nucleated with TBC8-eb begins with the interchain interaction of CH3,and then a short helix emerges where a couple of CH3 groups interact.展开更多

Objective:To investigate the effects of -2242,-1892 and -1837 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) on toll-like receptor 4(TLR4) promoter activity.Methods:Polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and site direct mutation techn...Objective:To investigate the effects of -2242,-1892 and -1837 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) on toll-like receptor 4(TLR4) promoter activity.Methods:Polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and site direct mutation technology were used to construct TLR4 basic promoter and -2242C,-1892A and -1837G mutate promoter plasmids.Dual-Luciferase Reporter assay system was used to detect the activity of constructed promoter following human embryonic kidney(HEK) 293 cells were transiently cotransfected with the constructed plasmids and the control plasmid pRL-CMV.Results:In HEK293 cells,the activity of -2242C mutate promoter was higher than -2242T promoter,and there was no significant difference when both -1892A and -1837G mutate promoter compared with -1892G and -1837A promoter,respectively.Conclusion:It is implied that -2242T→C base variation can enhance the activity of TLR4 promoter,while -1892 and -1837 SNPs have no effect on TLR4 promoter activity.展开更多

METHODS: Specific SSU rDNA fragments from nuclear DNA of 7 Leishmania species/isolates were amplified by PCR and then cloned into pGEM(R)-T Easy Vectors. After that, the specific fragments were sequenced by an automated DNA sequencer. RESULTS: Sequence analysis showed that the amplified DNA fragments of 7 Leishmania species/isolates were all 392 bp in length. All 5 point mutations were located in two unique sequence blocks (UQ-I and UQ-II), and no insertions or deletions were found. The identities of comparison of Leishmania in GeneBank were more than 98%. CONCLUSION: Five point mutations exist in the SSU rDNA variable region of 5 L.d. isolates from different epidemic foci of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) in China. In this new approach, two plasma j...A novel method of initiating nuclear fusion reactions in a full plasma environment was suggested, and a proof-of-concept experiment was carried out with the D +D → n+3He reaction. In this new approach, two plasma jets generated by high-intensity lasers collide headon-head. The center-of-mass energy of the nuclei increases accordingly, and therefore, reaction products can be significantly enhanced, especially in the sub-Coulomb barrier ranges. As a result of the fusion reaction, up to - 7.6 ×105 neutrons had been observed. This new type of "plasma collider" could provide an innovative tool to study nuclear reactions under astrophysical conditions.展开更多

Criteria for ascertaining the correct flow models were thoroughly investigated. After testing th...A fundamental analysis of helium-gas coolant leakage rate through first-wall cracks in Tokamak fusion reactors was made. Criteria for ascertaining the correct flow models were thoroughly investigated. After testing the criteria, it was determined that the correct model is the compressible choked flow for the helium-gas coolant under the normal operating conditions in the Tokamak fusion reactors. The upper bound leakage rates through metallic wall for two crack sizes were calculated. The calculated maximum numbers of allowable cracks through metallic and silicon-carbon composite wall were also reported. The experimental data of specimen S-23 (the small crack size), checked with the predicted or calculated leakage rate. But the experimental data of specimen S-4 (the large crack size, which is only 4.4 times larger than the crack size of specimen S-23) were two orders of magnitude higher than the calculated value. This is probably due to the many through-cracks undetected and therefore, not reported in the experiment, and not due to the difference in crack sizes. It should be noted that since there are only two test data points, it is recommended that more testing or experimental data will be needed. The results of two previous investigations about the calculated leakage values, their equations used, and their flow models employed were also reviewed. It is concluded that the correct model for the analysis is the compressible choked flow, and that helium can be as an effective coolant for fusion power reactors. Several recommendations are also made. Specifically, more experiments for helium, and similar analysis and experiments for lithium and water coolant are needed; and should be encouraged.展开更多

The method uses the relative bridging oxygen number (RBO) based on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and 29Si NMR techniques have been used to study phase transitions and silicate polymerization of coal gangue calcined at different temperatures or co-calcined. It has been found that phase transition of clay minerals causes silicate polymerization to change with temperature. In this study, cementing activity and RBO were determined to be inversely related. Generally, activated coal gangue with lower RBO had better cementitious activity.展开更多

The upper bound leakage rates through metallic wall for two crack sizes were calculated. The calculated maximum numbers of allowable cracks through metallic and silicon-carbon composite wall were also reported. The experimental data of specimen S-23 (the small crack size), checked with the predicted or calculated leakage rate. But the experimental data of specimen S-4 (the large crack size, which is only 4.4 times larger than the crack size of specimen S-23) were two orders of magnitude higher than the calculated value. This is probably due to the many through-cracks undetected and therefore, not reported in the experiment, and not due to the difference in crack sizes. It should be noted that since there are only two test data points, it is recommended that more testing or experimental data will be needed. The results of two previous investigations about the calculated leakage values, their equations used, and their flow models employed were also reviewed. It is concluded that the correct model for the analysis is the compressible choked flow, and that helium can be as an effective coolant for fusion power reactors. Several recommendations are also made. Specifically, more experiments for helium, and similar analysis and experiments for lithium and water coolant are needed; and should be encouraged.

文摘A new method for estimating the degree of [SiO4]4-polymerization of coal gangue is presented. The method uses the relative bridging oxygen number (RBO) based on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and 29Si NMR techniques have been used to study phase transitions and silicate polymerization of coal gangue calcined at different temperatures or co-calcined. It has been found that phase transition of clay minerals causes silicate polymerization to change with temperature. In this study, cementing activity and RBO were determined to be inversely related. Generally, activated coal gangue with lower RBO had better cementitious activity.
