It has cha...Summer monsoon in Southeast Asia can cause large-scale precipitation in the region in early summer, which is featured by prevailing low-level southwesterly from the Bay of Bengal to South China Sea (SCS). It has characteristics of its own as well as those of Asian monsoons in general. As found in studies over recent years on East Asian monsoons, the earliest onset of the Southeast Asian summer monsoon occurs in early summer over the SCS, among all members of the monsoon system. It then advances westward to India and northward to eastern China, Japan and Korean Peninsula. As pointed out by Lau and Yang121, the end of April is the earliest time when the Asian monsoon sets up at the southern tip of Indo-china Peninsula. Being the earliest signal for the whole summer monsoon system in Asia, it may be of some predictive value for the establishment of Asian summer monsoon (ASM).展开更多
The establishments which produce,store and use kinds of inflammable,explosive or toxic materials may induce accident,such as fire,explosion or poisonous gas dispersion,etc. Therefore,there is a need to locate these es...The establishments which produce,store and use kinds of inflammable,explosive or toxic materials may induce accident,such as fire,explosion or poisonous gas dispersion,etc. Therefore,there is a need to locate these establishments appropriately and conduct land use planning in the vicinity of these establishments based on risk analysis. Consulting advanced experience which obtained from land-use planning in European countries,this paper studied on locating hazardous establishment based on risk index,land-use planning based on consequence-probability,and land-use planning based on individual risk. Frameworks and procedures of the three approaches above were determined and applied to a proposed LNG station. The results show three methods are feasible when major projects' location and their surrounding buildings or establishments' layout are considered.展开更多
The remote response of the East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) to European black carbon (EUBC) aerosols was studied by using an ensemble of sensitivity experiments with the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFD...The remote response of the East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) to European black carbon (EUBC) aerosols was studied by using an ensemble of sensitivity experiments with the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL) atmospheric general circulation model (AGCM) Atmospheric Model version 2.1 (AM2.1).The results show that EUBC causes an enhanced EASM.The resulted enhanced southwesterly brings more moisture supply from the Bay of Bengal,which causes an increase in precipitation over the Yangtze River valley,northeastem China,the eastern part of the Yellow River valley,and the Tibetan Plateau.Diagnostic examination suggests that EUBC induces enhanced tropospheric heating over most of the Eurasian Continent through a propagating wave train and horizontal air temperature advection.This phenomenon results in intensified thermal contrast between land and ocean,which accounts for the enhanced EASM.Moreover,reductions in EUBC emission in 1992 may have contributed to decadal weakening of the EASM in the early 1990s.展开更多

Simultaneously water and air temperatures increase more than elsewhere in Europe and globally, which can...The marine environment of North Sea and Baltic is one of the most heavily strained by numerous human activities. Simultaneously water and air temperatures increase more than elsewhere in Europe and globally, which cannot be explained with "global warming". The climatic change issue would be better understood if this extraordinary regional warming is sufficiently explained. The regional features are unique for in-depth studies due to different summer-winter conditions, shallowness of the seas, geographical structure, and main pathway for maritime weather patterns moving eastwards. The impact of sea activities on the seasonal sea water profile structure is contributing to stronger regional warming, change in growing season, and less severe sea ice conditions. The impact of the man, whether small or large, should be understood very soon and very thoroughly.展开更多

The st...This paper generalizes European call options on the extremum of several risky assets in a Poisson-Gaussian model which allows both the risky assets and stochastic interest rates moving randomly with jump risks. The stochastic interest rate is assumed to follow an extended multi-factor HJM model with jumps. The authors provide explicitly the closed-form solutions of these options through the change of numeralre technique and examine the effects of both jump risks and stochastic interest rate on the option price with numerical experiment. The model can be seen as an extension of Stulz (1982), Johnson (1987) and Lindset (2006).展开更多
