In this paper, we will study the scenario where multiple mobiles upload tasks to a MEC server in a sing cell, and allocating the limited server resources and wireless chan- nels between mobiles becomes a challenge. We formulate the optimization problem for the energy saved on mobiles with the tasks being dividable, and utilize a greedy choice to solve the problem. A Select Maximum Saved Energy First (SMSEF) algorithm is proposed to realize the solving process. We examined the saved energy at different number of nodes and channels, and the results show that the proposed scheme can effectively help mobiles to save energy in the MEC system.展开更多

Mining activity in Italy has been one of the main productive activities for millennia, particularly in the Tuscany region which has a great mining tradition, unfortunately characterized in the past by a management lit...Mining activity in Italy has been one of the main productive activities for millennia, particularly in the Tuscany region which has a great mining tradition, unfortunately characterized in the past by a management little interest to environmental problems. The area under study is the disused mine Niccioleta, in Val d'Aspra, located about 6 km NE of Massa Marittima in the province of Grosseto. The area is characterized by the presence of four major landfills, in which prevail quantitatively fine-grained materials resulting from the treatment by flotation of pyrite. The study of satellite images offers a new approach to the study of environmental problems. The results obtained from the RapidEye images showed the presence of pyrite and chalcopyrite followed from arsenopyrite, as confirmed by the analysis of diffractometer of the samples and by bibliographic data. RapidEye images lend themselves very to be used to monitor areas of disused mining deposits of ores with primary mineralization predominantly sulphides and subject to oxidized characterized by processes of oxidation/dissolution of pyrite sulphide most common and abundant. In fact, the results of this study have highlighted the potential of remote sensing applied to the study of mining areas, noting the possible benefits, both time and cost, which could be obtained by using these techniques.展开更多

In order to achieve higher growth rate, environmental problems emerged from e...In recent decades, undesirable environmental changes, such as global warming and greenhouse gases emission, have raised worldwide concerns. In order to achieve higher growth rate, environmental problems emerged from economic activities have turned into a controversial issue. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of financial development on environmental quality in Iran. For this purpose, the statistical data over the period from 1970 to 2011 were used. Also by using the Auto Regression Model Distributed Lag (ARDL), short-term and long-term relationships among the variables of model were estimated and analyzed. The results show that financial development accelerates the degradation of the environment; however, the increase in trade openness reduces the damage to environment in Iran. Error correction coefficient shows that in each period, 53% of imbalances would be justified and will approach their long-run procedure. Structural stability tests show that the estimated coefficients were stable over the period.展开更多

The objects of this paper are: human trafficking; ways of trafficking; risk of Albanian society; and investment of the criminal benefits deriving from trafficking in legal economic activities, it is of great importance for the treatment of proactive investigations to the trafficking of human beings. Another important aspect of the trafficking investigations is the investigation of criminal assets and the way how they are used in the economy of the country. In this paper, we stress that the investigation of criminal assets benefited by the crime of trafficking human beings as well as other wealth financed by these assets is important as the investigation of the criminal activity of trafficking itself. Also, we aim to evaluate the necessity of acting of all law enforcement agencies and other state institutions in order to be successful in the fight against the crime of trafficking of human beings. At the end of this paper, we do treat the necessity and the ways of collaboration of law enforcement agencies, NGOs, and structures of local government for rehabilitation of the victims of trafficking and their integration in the social life.展开更多
In this paper, the authors present a modelling activity developed from a thematic project in the models and mathematical modelling class of the professional master's degree program in mathematics education at the Fed...In this paper, the authors present a modelling activity developed from a thematic project in the models and mathematical modelling class of the professional master's degree program in mathematics education at the Federal University of Ouro Preto. The students enrolled in the class chose to study the theme Brazilian Public Politics. After several debates regarding the theme, the students were separated into three groups and each group chose a subtheme to study. The themes were IDH (index of human development), minimum wage and social security. As an example, a description of the thematic project about the minimum wage in Brazil is presented. The principal results obtained in the study of this theme include a discussion about the potentialities of the theme as a classroom activity in different levels of schooling. As an educational activity, the thematic project demonstrated itself to be greatly relevant, since not only did it provide the learning possibility of mathematics related to the issues studied, but also promoted various discussions regarding the theme, which, in our conception, contributes to the social-critical development of the students. Finally, from the point of view of applied mathematics and mathematics education, the development of a modelling activity from thematic projects showed itself to be a good source of researches.展开更多

Different international actors have different identities, responsibilities and roles in international institutions due to their comprehensive strengths. They are roughly divided into three types: followers, supporters and leaders. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, its process of participation in international institutions and global governance has been obviously staged.In recent years, China has actively participated in various major international activities and carried out a series of diplomatic activities at home, which further demonstrates its involvement from a single participant to both a leader and a participant. Among these programs are the information campaigns to promote awareness among the communities in calamity-prone areas Several symposia that provide venue for the discussion of environmental "bads" have been conducted, but none yet has explored the perceptions of the indigenous peoples, staunch "defenders" and protectors of the environment who themselves are victims of such calamities. This paper seeks to highlight the perceptions of the indigenous people on the causes and impact of environmental "bads" through literature inspired by their experiences. When Gods Cry is an unpublished anthology of fiction inspired by the author's interaction with indigenous communities in southern Philippines while doing research on oral traditions. Three works of fiction are discussed in this paper, namely: The OldMan andthe Mountain (2012), Loom of Dreams (2012), and Waterfall (2012). Each of these works highlights the indigenous people's struggle to protect their ancestral domains and the environment, their home, against external factors. Thematic literary analysis is used in the discussion of the contents of each work.展开更多

Structural optimization has been intensively used for design of conventional hard machines, while, to our best knowledge, few attempts have been made towards optimal design of soft machines. Here, we describe the sizing optimization problem of a dielectric elastomer(DE) actuated mechanical amplifier, and achieve the optimal design through combination of a commercial finite element method(FEM) software and an optimization automation software.We then design, fabricate and demonstrate a locomotive soft machine driven by DE actuator with amplified displacement output.The methodology and results present here open the door towards optimal designs of active materials based soft machines.展开更多

Continuum mechanics may be seen as the symbol of modem mechanics, which differs greatly from current physics, the two often being mixed up by people and even sci- entists. In this short paper, I will first try to give an illustration on the differences between (modem) mechanics and physics, in my personal view, and then focus on some important current research activities in continuum mechanics, attempting to identify its path to the near future. We can see that continuum mechanics, while having a dominating impact on engineering design in the 20th century, also plays a pivotal role in modem science, and is much closer to physics, chemistry, biology, etc. than ever before.展开更多

The finding that object relatives are easier to process than subiect relatives in Chinese challenges the notion that subject relative clauses are preferred universally. A large body of literature provides theories related to sentence processing mechanisms for native speakers but leaves one area relatively untouched: how bilinguals process sentences. This study is designed to examine the case where the individuals with a Chinese L1 language background process subject-extracted subject relative clauses (SS) and subject-extracted object relative clauses (SO) by using event- related potentials (ERPs) to probe into the real-time language processing and presents a direct manifestation of brain activity. The findings from this study support the subject relative clause preference due to the strong influence of English relative clause markedness and bilinguals' relative lower working memory capacity.展开更多
