Methods: A lesion was made to two of the three terminal branches of the sciatic nerve of rats (tibial and common peroneal nerves) leaving the sural nerve intact. Continuous intrathe-cal administration of propentofylline, a glial modulating agent, 1 d before and 5 d after operation, was performed to disrupt spinal cord glia function. The vehicle was intrathecally administrated as control. The paw withdrawal threshold to mechanical stimulation (paw withdrawal mechaical threshold PWMT), body mass and motor function were determined pre- and post-surgery. Results: It produced a prolonged mechanical allodynia in the medial and lateral part of the ipsilateral hind paw in SNL models. The treatment with propentofylline significantly prevented the development of mechanical allodynia located in either medial or lateral plantar surface. Rats in two groups showed normal motor function and body weight increase. Conclusion: SNI model can be applied as a useful method with little variance in searching the mechanism of neuropathic pain. These study suggest that spinal glia activation may contribute to mechanical allodynia induced by SNI.展开更多

She develops multilayered meanings of the house in terms of psychological, spiritual, and sensory influences on both her private and communal life. She deploys sensory signiflers to portray religious and spiritual memories in a picturesque or performative way. The book reveals that the primacy of the senses as a perceptual device transforms the habitual religious rituals of popular Catholicism into the unconscious. This book shows how sensory perception is engaged in appropriating mystical space/time and interiorizing spiritual objects of family life. Thus, the paper investigates how the sensory agencies contribute to exploring culturally plural ways of experiencing the divine. It also illustrates how Mora's deployment of corporeality is related to her reassessment of femaleness and understanding of a meaning of the divine, which is distinctively embodied through 1o cotidiano. In effect, it focuses on Mora's treatment of the sensible body in connection with spiritual and religious connotations.展开更多

A proper understanding of these terms in Scripture, especially "soul" and "spirit" is integral to understanding the state of the dead, among others. These terms are used in diverse contexts with interchangeable nuances in the Book of Job. A living ("life") person ("soul") consists of the body/flesh plus the life principle ("spirit") of which "breath" is a concrete expression. In poetic contexts, the terminologies denote the physical ("soul"/"life"), appetitive ("soul"/"life"), psychical ("spirit"/"breath"), and emotional ("soul"/"spirit") characteristics of the human being. While "soul" and "life" tend towards physieality and therefore can be used synonymously for the whole person, "spirit" and "breath" tend towards non-physicality and express such phenomena as intellection and wind. A study of these terminologies in other poetic texts in the Hebrew Bible may evince similar semantic configurations as found in the Book of Job.展开更多

Though it is not essential for the survival of an individual, it plays a major role in the growth, development, adjustment and well-being. Therefore, sexuality is a common aspect in the existence and it should not be neglected. However, in many religious ethical issues, sexuality had been treated negatively and identified as a barrier for an advanced spiritual life. Even in tribal societies there were some sexual taboos that controlled man's sexual behavior to some extent. Among religious ethical codes, one may find that it had been placed an important position for controlling or completely eliminating sexual behaviors. In modem world, what is evident is that this so called sexual need has been used for many commercial and marketing purposes. Even in advertising field, sexual desire of man is used as a mean of attracting public. Phonograph has become a very profitable illegal professional today. Sexual medicines, drugs and tools are available everywhere in the society. Though sexual education had been included into the curriculum in schools and higher education institutions, the awareness of sexuality among people seems to be in a low level. While biologically man is compelled to fulfill sexual desire internally, it is motivated externally by many social factors. So that not only misconceptions of sexuality, but also misbehaviors of sexuality can be observed in the society today. By examining these current situations of man's sexual behaviors, there is a big need to formulate a sexual ethical code--a code of law with the help of religious teachings. Otherwise these various sexual behaviors may create more and more social and world problems. In this paper, my aim is to examine Buddhist ethics in order to formulate a sexual ethical code.展开更多

The majority of papers concerning the families of autistic children concentrate on the quality of their lives. The aim of our study was to compare the experiences from the family of origin of mothers of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and from mothers of healthy children. In our study a Family of Origin Scale (FOS) was used. This scale consists of l0 constructs: clarity of expression, responsibility, respect for others, openness to others, acceptance of separation/loss, range of feelings, mood and tone, conflict resolution, empathy and trust. It was a pilot study. The examined group consisted of 9 mothers of children with ASD, the control group-7 mothers of healthy children. We found that both groups differed in a statistically significant way as for the construct called responsibility. Our research was a pilot study and it required further investigations.展开更多

People' s values are constantly changing, more and more people realize that participate in physical exercise for their own importance in sports. The status of people' s lives has been greatly improved, for most residents; they participate in physical activity and have gradually become a richer cultural life, and they enhance the basic needs of physical, mental lifelong sports have gradually deep heart. While people continue to enhance the sports consciousness exercise, we also see some potential problems, such as the rapid development of science and technology is to bring more and more problems to people. As people, enjoy the level of automation in the material aspects of life. They gradually have cars, telephones, washing machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens, rice cookers. And the household products go into our lives, we enjoy the material on those by making more and more people gradually reduce the daily activities. And the most prominent is the elevators and cars, reducing active time and the amount of activity, a lot of heat stored in the human body is causing various diseases, from the results of medical research over the past decade. Various diseases associated with obesity have been become the most important factor in human deaths worldwide, the rapid emergence of this disease and the rapid development of social science and technology form a clear lack of coordination, for which many experts at home and abroad for such issues of deep study and research.展开更多

Methods: A total of 6 cases of volunteer healthy subjects (3 males and 3 females) ranging in age from 22 to 36 years were subjected to this study. Changes of cerebral glucose metabolism before and after electro-scalp acupuncture were observed by using positron emission tomography (PET) and semi-quantifying analysis method. Electro-scalp acupuncture stimulation (50 Hz, 2 mA) of Middle Line of Vertex (Ding zhongxian,顶中线,MS5), Middle Line of Forehead (Ezhongxian, 额中线,MS1) and bilateral Lateral Line 1 of Forehead (Epangyixian,额旁一线,MS2) was administered for 30 minutes. Then cerebral regions of interest (ROIs) were chosen and their average glucose metabolism levels (radioactivity of 18 fluorine deoxyglucose) were analyzed. Results: After administration of electro-scalp acupuncture, the glucose metabolism levels in bilateral frontal lobes and bilateral caudate nuclei, left cingulate gyrus and right cerebellum increased significantly in comparison with those of pre stimulation (P<0.05). Conclusion: Electro-scalp acupuncture of MSI, MS2 and MS5 can increase the glucose metabolism of certain cerebral regions involving mental activity in healthy subjects.展开更多

The aims of this study were to assess the prevalence of IBS in nurses, to evaluate whether factors, such as psychological disorders, are associated with IBS, and to determine whether psychological disorders can influence the severity of symptoms of IBS and quality of life (QOL). A cross-sectional study was conducted for Chinese nurses from November 2012 to February 2013. Partici- pants were asked to complete questionnaires. The prevalence of IBS was 17.4%. The revised symptom checklist 90 (SCL-90-R) scores were significantly higher for nurses with IBS than for those without IBS (P〈0.001), and no difference in scores between IBS subtypes was found (F=1.893, P=-0.142). The scores of QOL for nurses with and without IBS were 77.18±21.93 and 88.44±11.89 (P〈0.001), respectively. Psychological disorders did not show statistically significant correlations with severity of symptoms of IBS or QOL. Alcohol consumption, low level of exercise, and psychological disorders were risk factors for IBS. In summary, nurses in China show a high prevalence of IBS. Psy- chological disorders and some related lifestyle factors are probably responsible for the development of IBS in nurses.展开更多

Our recent study showed that schizophrenia susceptibility factor dysbindin exhibited significant higher level in serum of PDAC patients. However, the functional relevance of dysbindin in PDAC is still unclear. Here, we show that dysbindin pro- motes tumor growth both in vitro and in vivo by accelerating the G1/S phase transition in cell cycle via PI3K/AKT signaling path- way. Mechanistically, dysbindin interacts with PI3K and stimulates the kinase activity of PI3K. Moreover, overexpression of dysbindin in PDAC is correlated with clinicopathological characteristics significantly, such as histological differentiation (P = 0.011) and tumor size (P = 0.007). Kaplan-Meier survival curves show that patients with high dysbindin expression exhibit poorer overall survival, compared to those with low dysbindin expression (P 〈 0.001). Multivariate analysis reveals that dysbindin is an independ- ent prognostic factor for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (P = 0.001). Thus, our findings reveal that dysbindin is a novel PI3K acti- vator and promotes PDAC progression via stimulation of PI3K/AKT. Dysbindin therefore represents a potential target for prognosis and therapy of PDAC.展开更多

In this paper, my aim is to examine Buddhist ethics in order to formulate a sexual ethical code.
文摘The influence of the family of origin is often described in the aetiology of different psychiatric disorders. Our research was a pilot study and it required further investigations.
文摘Since the 1980s, people' s material and spiritual life are constantly enriched and improved. Various diseases associated with obesity have been become the most important factor in human deaths worldwide, the rapid emergence of this disease and the rapid development of social science and technology form a clear lack of coordination, for which many experts at home and abroad for such issues of deep study and research.
文摘Depression is the most present mental disorders with a very expensive treatment costs. Due to the high prevalence of depression in Bosnia and Herzegovina and high work load of psychiatrists, patients that suffer from depression are often marginalised, stigmatised and inadequately treated. Therefore, a pharmacist can influence an adequate selection of a therapy through an interdisciplinary approach and pharmaceutical care and alos provide patient monitoring, counselling about side effects and interactions of the prescribed drugs, which will in the end improve the quality of life for patients that suffer from depression. The aim of this work was to establish the influence of pharmaceutical care on the outcome of the quality of life and the pharmacological treatment of patients suffering from depression. Results showed that the involvement of pharmacist in a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of depression lead to improvement of the effect of therapy and increased quality of life.

文摘The interaction of cationic gemini surfactants(alkanediyl-α,ω-bis(alkyl dimethylammonium bromide)) with an antipsychotic drug(chlorpromazine hydrochloride(CPZ)) has been investigated. Various micellar and interfacial parameters have been deliberated by surface tension measurement to report the nature of interactions between drug and novel surfactant mixtures. The behavior of mixed systems, their compositions and activities of components have been analyzed in the light of Rubingh's theory. The results indicate synergism in the binary mixtures. The binding study between CPZ and surfactants has been done by spectroscopic techniques such as UV–visible and fluorescence. The results are discussed in the light of the use of gemini surfactants as promising drug delivery agents for phenothiazine drugs, and hence, improve their bioavailability.

文摘Objective: To observe the effect of electro-scalp acupuncture on glucose metabolism of cerebral regions involving mental activity in healthy people. Conclusion: Electro-scalp acupuncture of MSI, MS2 and MS5 can increase the glucose metabolism of certain cerebral regions involving mental activity in healthy subjects.
文摘Objective:To observe the clinical effects of tuina plus Western medication for functional dyspepsia (FD) due to liver qi stagnation and spleen deficiency. Methods:A total of 72 patients in conformity with the inclusion criteria of FD were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group based upon the random number table,36 cases in each group. The control group was treated with mosapride citrate dispersible tablets, and the observation group was treated with the same tablets plus tuina. Before the treatment and 4 weeks after the treatment, the clinical symptoms, quality of life (QOL) and depression severity were observed by the scale, and were followed up two months later after the treatment for assessment of the clinical effects. Results:After the treatment and at the follow-up,the symptom scores of FD and the sores of Hamilton depression rating scale (HAMD) in both groups decreased, and the scores in Chinese version of quality of life questionnaire for functional digestive disorders (Chin-FDDQL) increased, with statistically significant differences in comparison with the same group before the treatment (all P〈0.05).In comparison between the two groups at the same time point after the treatment, the scores of FD symptoms,HAMD and Chin-FDDQL were improved better in the observation group than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P〈0.05).The total effective rates at the follow-up were 91.7% in the observation group and 75.0% in the control group, without statistical difference between the two groups (P〉0.05).The rate of clinical cure and remarkable effect was 66.7% in the observation group, higher than 41.7% in the control group,it is higher in the observation group than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P〈0.05).Conclusion:Tuina plus Western medication is precise in the therapeutic effects for FD due to liver qi stagnation and spleen deficiency and can effectively relieve clinical symptoms, elevate the QOL and alleviate depression severity of the patients. Moreover,it's better than the treatment by Western medication alone in the long-term therapeutic effects.
文摘Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of heat-sensitive moxibustion for adjuvant treatment of depression in Parkinson disease and explore its mechanism. Methods:A total of 80 patients with Parkinson disease coupled with depression were randomized into an observation group and a control group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with levodopa and benserazide hydrochloride tablets and paroxetine tablets, while the observation group was treated with heat-sensitive moxibustion on the basis of the medications in the control group. The treatment course was 2 months. The Hamilton depression scale-17(HAMD-17),unified Parkinson's disease rating scale(UPDRS)and Parkinson's disease quality of life questionnaire-39(PDQ-39)were scored before and after the treatment, and the efficacy was evaluated after treatment.Levels of patients'serum dopamine(DA),5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleukin-6(IL-6)were detected before and after the treatment. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).The HAMD-17 scores in the two groups decreased significantly after treatment(both P<0.05),and the score in the observation group was obviously lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The component scores and total scores of UPDRS in both groups decreased significantly(all P<0.05),and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(all P<0.05).The score of PDQ-39 in the observation group decreased significantly(P<0.05),and was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the serum DA and 5-HT levels in the observation group increased significantly(both P<0.05)and the TNF-αand IL-6 levels decreased significantly(both P<0.05),which were statistically different from those in the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion:Heat-sensitive moxibustion has certain auxiliary effect in treating depression in Parkinson disease, significantly improving clinical symptoms and the quality of life, which may be related to the up-regulation of DA and 5-HT levels and down-regulation of TNF-αand IL-6 levels.

文摘The prevalence of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and associated factors, especially psychological and lifestyle factors, in nurses in China have not been investigated previously. Psy- chological disorders and some related lifestyle factors are probably responsible for the development of IBS in nurses.
文摘Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of heat-sensitive moxibustion for vascular dementia and explore its mechanism. Methods:A total of 70 patients with vascular dementia were randomized into an observation group and a control group, with 35 cases in each group. The control group was treated with piracetam, and the observation group was treated with heat-sensitive moxibustion on the basis of the treatment of the control group. The treatment lasted for 8 weeks. Before and after the treatment, the mini-mental state examination(MMSE),activity of daily living(ADL)and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom scores were assessed, and the levels of acetyl choline(Ach)and homocysteine(Hcy)were measured. The efficacy was evaluated after treatment. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the MMSE and ADL scores in the observation group decreased significantly, and were lower than those in the control group(all P<0.05);the TCM symptom score of the observation group decreased significantly(P<0.05),while that of the control group had no significant change(P>0.05);the plasma Ach level in the observation group increased significantly(P<0.05),and the Hcy level decreased significantly(P<0.05),which were statistically different from those in the control group(both P<0.05).Conclusion:Heat-sensitive moxibustion plus piracetam is effective in treating vascular dementia. It can significantly improve dementia symptoms and ADL,which may be related to the correction of plasma Ach and Hcy levels.
文摘Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) represents a biggest challenge in clinic oncology due to its invasiveness and lack of tar- geted therapeutics. Dysbindin therefore represents a potential target for prognosis and therapy of PDAC.
