However, the effective use of SCS is hampered by a lack of understanding of its mechanism(s) of action. In this paper, we focus on the sympathetic and parasympathetic effects of SCS on CBF. Method SpragueDawley rats were selected for the experimental series. The animals were divided into 5 groups to underwent SCS and laser Doppler flowmeter (LDF) recordings. Control group, the animal underwent SCS and LDF recordings without any surgery of the nerve fibers and ganglia. V 1 group, the animal underwent bilateral resection of the nasociliary and post-ganglionic parasympathetic nerve fibbers. SCG group, the animal underwent bilateral resection of supper cervical ganglion. V 1 + SCG group, the animal underwent both surgeries as V1- and SCG-group animals did. Sham group, the animal underwent the carotid manipulation with blunt-tipped forceps as well as the dissection of nasociliary and post-ganglionic parasympathetic nerve fibers around the ethmoidal foramen, but without cutting any nerves. Results During the SCS, the LDF was no statistical difference between the V 1 or SCG group and the control group. Yet, the effects of SCS on CBF are completely abolished in V1+ SCG group. Conclusions Surgical interruption of both the parasympathetic and sympathetic pathways has the contradict effect on SCS-induced CBF augmentation.展开更多

Our results indicated that the cell membrane fluidity in the model group decreased approximately 8% compared with the control group, and after brain cells were incubatied with species, the membrane fluidity could be recovered closely to the control level depending on the BYHW decoction and its different constituents. As the membrane fluidity is a very sensitive biological index which reflectsd the cell status, our method will be useful to study the molecular mechanism of tradition Chinese medicine (TCM) and its combination recipe.展开更多

Methods The monkeys were immediately removed brain after death in operation of group A (identical temperature perfusion group) and group B (ultraprofound hypothermia perfusion group). Immunohistochemical technique was used to determine frontal cellular expression of NGF and GDNF. Statistics were analyzed by ANOVA analyses with significance level at P 〈 0.05. Results The expressions of NGF and GDNF in the group B were significantly higher than those in the group A (P 〈 0.05). Conclusion NGF and GDNF increased significantly in the monkeys of resuscitation after selective cerebral ultraprofound hypothermia and blood flow occlusion. It may be a protective mechanism for neuron survival and neural function recovery.展开更多

Methods A total of 54 patients with spontaneous thalamic hemorrhage were evaluated retrospectively. Clinical data, including demographics, stroke risk factors, neuroimaging variables, Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) on admission, surgical strategy, and outcome, were collected. Clinical outcome was assessed using a modified Rankin Scale, six months after onset. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed to determine predictors of a poor outcome. Results Conservative treatnaent was performed for five patients (9.3%), external ventricular drainage (EVD) for 20 patients (37.0%), THD for four patients (7.4%), and EVD combined with THD for 25 patients (46.3%). At six months after onset, 21 (38.9%) patients achieved a favorable outcome, while 33 (61.1%) had a poor outcome. In the univariate analysis, predictors of poor 6-month outcome were lower GCS on admis- sion (P = 0.001), larger hematoma volume (P 〈 0.001), midline shift (P = 0.035), acute hydrocephalus (P = 0.039), and no THD (P = 0.037). The independent predictors of poor outcome, according to the multivariate logistic regression analysis, were no THD and larger hematoma volume. Conclusions Minimally invasive THD, which removes most of the hematoma within a few days, with limited damage to perihematomal brain tissue, improved the 6-month outcome of thalamic hemorrhage. Thus, THD can be widely applied to treat patients with thalamic hemorrhage.展开更多

METHODS: Sixty SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups: normal control group, model group (group with gastric mucosal damage, GMD), Sibai group (with acupuncture at Sibai point + GMD), Tianshu group (with acupuncture at Tianshu point + GMD), Zusanli group (with acupuncture at Zusanli point + GMD) and non-acupoint group (with acupuncture at non-acupoint + GMD). The GMD model group was induced by infusing pure alcohol into gastric cavity. H2 Gas Clearance Test (HGCT) was used to measure GMBF, the frequency and amplitude of gastric motility were measured by the method of aerocyst, the content of brain-gut peptide in sinus ventriculi and bulbus medullae were detected by radioimmunoassay. RESULTS: Inhibitory effect of the frequency and amplitude of gastric motility were shown in model group, and the rates of frequency and amplitude changes were remarkably different from the normal control group (-19.41 ± 17.21 vs-4.71 ± 10.32, P 〈 0.05; -51.61 ± 29.02 vs 1.81 ± 14.12, P 〈 0.01). In comparison with control group, the GMBF was 0.52 ± 0.161 mL vs 1.03 ± 0.255 mL per 100g tissue/min, P 〈 0.01, the content of motilin in sinus ventriculi and bulbus medullae was 63.04 ± 7.77 pg/mL vs 72.91 ± 8.42 pg/mL, P 〈 0.05 and 50.96 ± 8.77 pg/mL vs 60.76 ± 8.05 pg/mL, P 〈 0.05, but the content of somatostatin in sinus ventriculi and bulbus medullae was 179.85 ± 43.13 ng/g vs 90.54 ± 40.42 ng/g, P 〈 0.01 and 532.86 ± 122.58 ng/g vs 370.91 ± 76.29 ng/g, P 〈 0.05,respectively. In comparison with model group, the amplitude of gastric motility was 1.52 ± 20.13, -6.52 ± 23.31, 6.92 ± 25.21 vs -51.61 ± 29.02, P 〈 0.01 and GMBF was 0.694 ± 0.160 mL vs 0.893 ± 0.210 mL, 1.038 ± 0.301 mL vs 0.52 ± 0.161 mL per 100g tissue/rain, P 〈 0.01, respectively in Tianshu, Sibai and Zusanli groups, the content of motilin in sinus ventriculi and bulbus medullae was 71.64 ± 9.35 pg/mL vs 63.04 ± 7.77 pg/mL, P 〈 0.05; 58.96 ± 6.69 pg/mL vs 50.96 ± 8.77 pg/mL, P 〈 0.05 in Zusanli group and 72.84 ± 8.62 pg/mL vs 63.04 ± 7.77 pg/mL, P 〈 0.05 in Sibai group, while the content of somatostatin in bulbus medullae in Tianshu, Sibai and Zusanli groups was 480.62 ± 151.69 ng/g, 388.53 ± 155.04 ng/g, 365.76 ± 143.93 ng/g vs 532.86 ± 122.58 ng/g, P 〈 0.05, respectively. CONCLUSION: Electro-acupuncture at acupoints of Foot-Yangming Meridian could enhance the gastric motility, improve GMBF, and regulate the content of motUin and somatostatin in sinus ventriculi and bulbus. The effects of acupuncture on GMBF and gastric motility may be related to the content of brain-gut peptide.展开更多

Methods: A total of 20 cases of CP children were subjected into this study. Changes of systolic peak value (Vs), blood flow velocity at the end-diastolic phase (Ved), mean velocity (Vm), pulsation index (PI) and resistance index (RI) of the cerebral hemodynamics before and after performing JIN’s Three-Needling Therapy with the needles retained for 30 min (group A) and 5 min (group B) were observed by using transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (TCD). Results: After acupuncture, the blood flow in the middle cerebral artery (MCA), anterior cerebral artery (ACA) and posterior cerebral artery (PCA) was accelerated, and the resistance of blood vessels decreased. The effect of needle-retaining-30 min was better than that of needle-retaining-5 min. Conclusion: In treating cerebral paralysis by using JIN’s Three-Needling Therapy, sufficient stimulation provided by needle remaining is an important factor for achieving satisfactory therapeutic effects.展开更多

In 30 cases of stroke (cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction) patients, blood flow state of the anterior cerebral artery (ACA), middle cerebral artery (MCA) and the posterior cerebral artery (PCA), and the blood flow velocity of the bilateral vertebral artery (VA) and the basil artery (BA) are determined before and after pricking blood of the Twelve Jing-points. In experimental cerebral ischemia (by occlusion of the common carotid artery) rabbits, cerebral hematoma model rabbits and intravenous injection of noradrenaline induced hypertension rabbits, rheoencephalogram (REC) is detected before and after blood letting of the twelve "Jing"-points. In these 30 stroke patients, ultrasound Doppler examination’s results show that in 22 cases (73.33%) whose blood flow velocity decreases, after blood-letting of the 12 Jing-points, it increases significantly (P<0.01); in the rest 8 cases ( 26.67%) whose blood flow velocity speeds up, after treatment, it decreases evidently (P<0.01), showing a good dual-directional regulative effect of blood-letting therapy. In experimental cerebral ischemia rabbits, cerebral hematoma rabbits and hypertension rabbits whose REG lowers in the amplitude apparently (P<0.01), after blood letting stimulation of the 12 Jing-points, it increases at different degrees. Three patterns of stimulation as blood letting stimulation, pain stimulation and Jing-point stimulation, also the 3 factors of blood-letting therapy, may contribute to their effect on improvement of the cerebral blood flow. Somatic afferent nerve, sympathetic nerve of the vascular wall, central cholinergic nerve (M receptors) and adrenergic nerve (α receptors) participate in the effect of blood letting on cerebral blood flow.展开更多

Methods. Nineteen dextromanual patients who were diagnosed as unilateral stroke clinically and hemispatial neglect by a neglect test battery received single photon emission computed tomography(SPECT) scans. Results. On images, the damages of patients with neglect were seen most frequently in the frontal cortex, and then in turn in the parietal cortex, occipital cortex, temporal cortex, basal ganglia and thalamus. Most patients with neglect had two or more regions damaged. The most significant region was temporal-parietal-occipi-tal(TPO)junction. The correlation coefficient between rCBF and the severity of neglect was -0.34(t=-1.5,P>0.05),and that between the decrease percentage of rCBF and the severity of neglect was 0.34(t=1.47,P>0.05). The correlation coefficients between the range, number of foci, the flow deficit size and the severity of neglect were 0.71(t=4.13,P<0.01),0.70(t=4.07,P<0.01)and 0.64(t=3.40, P<0.01),respectively. Conclusions. The severity of neglect correlates with rCBF and the decrease percentage of rCBF insignificantly, but correlates positively with the range, number of foci and the flow deficit size significantly. Hemispatial neglect is caused by the damage of multiple sites and combined damage results in more severe neglect.展开更多

Methods: 40 Wistar rats were evenly randomized into sham-operation, model, medication (Nimotone) and EA groups. Vascular dementia model was established by repeated cerebral ischemia-reperfusion which was induced by occlusion and reopen of the bilateral common carotid arteries. EA (2~200 Hz, 2~3 mA) was applied to "Baihui"(GV 20), "Dazhui"(GV 14) and "Zusanli"(ST 36) for 30 min, once daily and continuously for 15 days. The regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) in parietal lobe and hippocampus was determined with method of hydrogen clearance; a step-down avoidance test was adopted to observe the rats’ behavior change; and plasma VIP and ET contents were assayed by radioimmunoassay. Results: In comparison with sham-operation group, the correct rate of step-down avoidance test, rCBF in parietal lobe and hippocampus and plasma VIP level in VD model group lowered significantly (P<0.01) and plasma ET increased considerably (P<0.01). However, compared with model group, the correct rate of step-down avoidance test, rCBF values and plasma VIP in EA group raised obviously while plasma ET declined significantly. No significant differences were found between EA and medication groups in the 4 indexes. Conclusion: EA can raise rCBF in the parietal lobe and hippocampus, elevate plasma VIP level and reduce plasma ET in rats with VD.展开更多

Methods: A total of 38 inpatients (26 males and 12 females) were treated with electroacupuncture (EA) of scalp point Dingzhongxian (MS 5), Dingnie Houxiexian (MS 7), Dingpangxian II (MS 9) and Dingnie Qianxiexian (MS 6). Before and after acupuncture treatment, clinical symptoms of dysphagia and dysphonia were compared, and the mean blood flow speed (MBFS) values of the anterior cerebral artery (ACA), middle cerebral artery (MCA) and posterior cerebral artery (PCA) detected by using Doppler blood flow meter. Results: Following two courses (4 weeks) of scalp acupuncture treatment, of the 38 cases, 23 had their dysphagia and dysphonia cured (60.5%), 10 (25.3%) had remarkable improvement, 3(7.9%) experienced improvement and 2 (5.3%) had no apparent changes. Simultaneously, MBFS of ACA, MCA and PCA increased significantly in comparison with that of pre treatment (P<0.01). Additionally, results also showed that scalp acupuncture could stabilize the blood circulation between both hemispheres of the brain. Conclusion: Scalp acupuncture has a fairly good therapeutic effect in improving stroke caused dysphagia and dysphonia and in facilitating cerebral blood flow.展开更多

Post-PEG complications were compared between two groups according to the presence or absence of VP shunts. VP shunt infection rates, the interval between PEG placement and VP shunt catheter insertion, and long-term follow-up were also investigated.RESULTS: Fifty-five patients qualified for the study. Seven patients (12.7%) had pre-existing VP shunts. All patients received prophylactic antibiotics. The complication rate did not differ between VP shunt patients undergoing PEG (PEG/VP group) and non-VP shunt patients undergoing PEG (control group) [1 (14.3%) vs 6 (12.5%), P=1.000]. All patients in the PEG/VP group had undergone VP shunt insertion prior to PEG placement. The mean interval between VP shunt insertion and PEG placement was 308.7 d (range, 65-831 d). The mean follow-up duration in the PEG/VP group was 6.4 mo (range, 1-15 mo). There were no VP shunt infections, although one patient in the PEG/VP group developed a minor peristomal infection during follow-up.CONCLUSION: Complications following PEG placement in patients with VP shunts were infrequent in this study.展开更多

The morphology and fibre arrangement of 15 cerebral bridging veins obtained from 7 Danish Yorkshire landrace pigs were observed. Results. There was a narrow region at the junction of the cerebral bridging veins and superior sagittal sinus termed“ outflow cuff segment". The diameter and length of outflow cuff segment were much smaller and the thickness was higher than those of the cerebral bridging veins (P0.05). Conclusions. There were differences in fibre arrangement and morphological properties between the outflow cuff segment and the cerebral bridging vein, just like a resistance valve, the outflow cuff segment may play an important role in stabilizing cerebral venous outflow and regulating intracranial pressure.展开更多

One recently characterized encephalitis caused by antibodies is anti-N- methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis. It is a form of paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis associated with ovarian teratoma and has recently been described. The NMDA receptor mediates excitatory neurotransmission. It is important for synaptic plasticity, and thus for higher function such as learning and memory. This disorder results in prominent psychiatric symptoms followed by a rapid decline of the level of consciousness, central hypoventilation, seizures, involuntary movements and dysautonomia.展开更多

METHODS: Sixty-four healthy male Wistar rats were divided randomly into two groups: traumatic brain injury (TBI) group (n = 32), rats with traumatic brain injury; and control group (n = 32), rats with sham-operation. Each group was divided into four subgroups (n = 8) as 6, 12, 24 and 48 h after operation. Intestinal motility was measured by the propulsion ratio of a semi-solid colored marker (carbon-ink). IMBF was measured with the laser-Doppler technique. Endotoxin and D-xylose levels in plasma were measured to evaluate the change of intestinal mucosal barrier function following TBI. RESULTS: The level of endotoxin was significantly higher in TBI group than in the control group at each time point (0.382 ± 0.014 EU/mL vs 0.102 ± 0.007 EU/mL, 0.466 ± 0.018 EU/mL vs 0.114 ± 0.021 EU/mL, 0.478± 0.029 EU/mL vs 0.112 ±- 0.018 EU/mL and 0.412± 0.036 EU/mL vs 0.108 ±0.011 EU/mL, P 〈 0.05). D-xylose concentrations in plasma in TBI group were significantly higher than in the control group (6.68 ± 2.37 mmol/L vs 3.66 ±1.07 retool/L, 8.51 ± 2.69 mmol/L vs 3.15 + 0.95 mmol/L, 11.68 ±3.24 mmol/L vs 3.78 ± 1.12 mmol/L and 10.23 ± 2.83 mmol/L vs 3.34 ± 1.23 mmol/L, P 〈 0.05). The IMBF in TBI group was significantly lower than that in the control group (38.5 ± 2.8 PU vs 45.6 ± 4.6 PU, 25.2 ± 3.1 PU vs 48.2 ± 5.3 PU, 21.5 ± 2.7 PU vs 44.9 ± 2.8 PU, 29. 4 ± 3.8 PU vs 46.7 ± 3.2 PU) (P 〈 0.05). Significant decelerations of intestinal propulsion ratio in T8I groups were found compared with the control group (0.48% ± 0.06% vs 0.62%± 0.03%, 0.37% ±0.05% vs 0.64% ± 0.01%, 0.39% ± 0.07% vs 0.63% =1= 0.05% and 0.46% ± 0.03% vs 0.65% ± 0.02%) (P 〈 0.05). CONCLUSION: The intestinal mucosal permeability is increased obviously in TBI rats. Decrease of intestinal motility and IMBF occur early in TBI, both are important pathogenic factors for stress-related damage of the intestinal mucosal barrier in TBI.展开更多

Fifty-eight were male and 44 cases were female. The age ranged from 9months to 14 years old, with an average of 6.1 ± 0.5 of age. CranialCT or MRI examination was conducted before and after thesurgery on all patients.RESULTS The primary manifestations for this group of patientswere increased intracranial pressure and/or ataxia. Postoperativepathological diagnoses showed: 46 cases of medulloblastoma, 43cases of astrocytoma, 11 cases of ependymoma (including 1 caseof degenerative ependymoma), 1 case of dermoid cyst, and 1 caseof teratoma. In this group of the patients, radical surgery wasused in 68 cases and subtotal surgical removal used in 31 cases, while surgical removal of large section was performed on 3 cases. There were no deaths from surgery reported. Ninety-one casesshowed significant symptomatic improvement when comparedwith preoperative conditions, while 11 cases showed either noimprovement or more severely affected afterward. For 6 cases, postoperative ventriculoperitoneal shunt was performed within7 days to 2 months after the surgery. Sixty-three patients gainedfollow-up for 3 to 60 months in duration. Thirty-nine patientsregained normal life and were able to learn well, while there were7 patients who could not live normally on their own. During thefollow-up period, there were 17 cases of recurrence and 7 casesof death. In 23 cases of medulloblastoma in children with age of3 years old or above, 2 cases who underwent surgical removal ofintracranial ependymoma received small dosage of postoperativeX-ray radiotherapy on the the brain and spinal cord. Nine casesof medulloblastoma in children under age of 3 and 17 cases ofastrocytoma diagnosed after the surgery received chemotherapyof Carmustine.CONCLUSION Medulloblastomas and astrocytomas werethe most common types of pediatric tumor of posterior cranialfossa, right followed by ependymoma, and dermoid cysts andteratomas were rare. Early correct diagnosis, proper selection ofappropriate surgical modality and the surgical margin, propertreatment of postoperative complications, and the selecting rightradiotherapy or chemotherapy were the key factors in influencingthe prognostic outcome of children with tumor of posterior cranialfossa.展开更多

METHODS: Persistent infection was established with standard strains of Japanese encephalitis viruse, known as parental viruse, in a human hepatoma cell line, KN73. Cells were subcultured weekly using trypsinization techniques. Cell-associated viruses of persistently infected cells were collected by a freeze and thaw method. Virus titers were examined by plaque method using baby hamster kidney (BHK) cells. Indirect immunofluorescence assays were used to examine E and NS3 protein antigens. Western blot analysis was used to test expression of E and NS3 proteins. RESULTS: In the early phase (24 - 36 h) post-infection, virus titer in culture fluid from KN73 cells infected with parental viruses were 10(6) PFU/ml. They were 10(3 - 4) PFU/ml in the late phase (3 years) post-infection. The titer of cell-associated viruse was 10(2 - 3) PFU/ml. A virus super-infection assay found that virus titers in culture fluid from persistently infected KN73 cells acutely super- infected with parental viruses were much lower than that of culture fluids in acutely infected normal KN73 at the same phase. Indirect immunoflurescence assay revealed that the quantity of viral antigens in persistently infected KN73 cells was lower than that in acutely infected KN73 cells with parental viruses. Western blot analyses indicated that the molecular weights of E and NS3 proteins were 53 kD and 73 kD, respectively. Expression of NS3 protein in persistently infected KN73 cells was stable but expression of E protein was markedly suppressed. CONCLUSIONS: The virulence and reproduction of viruses obtained from persistently infected KN73 cells, which have some features of DI viruses and were involved in persistent infection, was lower than that of parental viruses. These mutants may have be related to the decrease in E protein expression.展开更多
文摘Objective Cervical spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has been found to augment cerebral blood flow (CBF) in a number of animal models. Conclusions Surgical interruption of both the parasympathetic and sympathetic pathways has the contradict effect on SCS-induced CBF augmentation.
文摘With in vitro spin labeling electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy, we have studied the effects of Bu Yang Huan Wu (BYHW) decoction and its effective constituents such as astragaloside IV ferulic acid, chuanxiongzine, rutin, chlorogenic acid, 9,10 dimethoxy pterocarpane 7 O β D glucoside, calycosin, formononetin, calycosin 7 O glucoside, paeoniflorin, paeonal and quercein on the cell membrane fluidity of a rat brain which was modeled after the dual cervical arteries were intercepted and released for realizing an ischemia reperfusion injury which was selected as a brain stroke model. Our results indicated that the cell membrane fluidity in the model group decreased approximately 8% compared with the control group, and after brain cells were incubatied with species, the membrane fluidity could be recovered closely to the control level depending on the BYHW decoction and its different constituents. As the membrane fluidity is a very sensitive biological index which reflectsd the cell status, our method will be useful to study the molecular mechanism of tradition Chinese medicine (TCM) and its combination recipe.

文摘Objective To investigate the expression of nerve growth factor (NGF) and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) in monkeys of resuscitation after selective cerebral ultraprofound hypothermia and blood flow occlusion. It may be a protective mechanism for neuron survival and neural function recovery.
文摘The effects of Lingzhi(Ganoderma lucidum)on hemorrheology parameters and symptoms of hypertensive patients with hyperlipidemia, sequelae of cerebral thrombosis and coronary heart disease are studied. The Lingzhi extract was given to 33 patients(15 male,18 female,65±8 years old)in dosage of 110mg qid po for 2 weeks. The blood viscosity was im- proved after treatment. The results showed that whole blood viscosity(at high shear rate and low shear rate)and plasma viscosity were significantly decreased(P<0.01).Lingzhi showed the effect of reducing blood pressure simultaneously.Several symptoms were also improved. However, there were no significant changes in haematocrit and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (P>0.05).In a few cases there occurred adverse reactions of palpitation and restlessness.

文摘Objective To explore predictors of the 6-month clinical outcome ofthalamic hemorrhage, and evaluate if minimally invasive thalamic hematoma drainage (THD) could improve its prognosis. Thus, THD can be widely applied to treat patients with thalamic hemorrhage.

文摘AIM: To observe the effect of acupuncture at Foot- Yangming Meridian on gastric mucosal blood flow (GMBF), gastric motility and brain-gut peptide. The effects of acupuncture on GMBF and gastric motility may be related to the content of brain-gut peptide.
文摘Objective: To investigate the effects of different needle-retaining duration on cerebral hemodynamics in cerebral paralysis (CP) children. Conclusion: In treating cerebral paralysis by using JIN’s Three-Needling Therapy, sufficient stimulation provided by needle remaining is an important factor for achieving satisfactory therapeutic effects.
文摘In this paper, the authors sum their research results about the effect of blood-letting of Jing (Well)-point on cerebral blood flow both in stroke patients and in experimental cerebral ischemia, cerebral hematoma and hypertension rabbits. Somatic afferent nerve, sympathetic nerve of the vascular wall, central cholinergic nerve (M receptors) and adrenergic nerve (α receptors) participate in the effect of blood letting on cerebral blood flow.
文摘AIM:To investigate recurrent variceal hemorrhage and long-term survival rates of patients treated with partial proximal splenorenal venous shunt.METHODS:Patients with variceal hemorrhage who were treated with small-diameter proximal splenorenal venous shunt in Ruijin Hospital between 1996 and 2009 were included in this study.Shunt diameter was determined before operation using Duplex Doppler ultrasonography.Peri-operative and long-term results in term of rehemorrhage, encephalopathy and mortality were followed up.RESULTS:Ninety-eight patients with Child A and B variceal hemorrhage received small-diameter proximal splenorenal venous shunt with a diameter of 7-10 mm.After operation, the patients’mean free portal pressure (P<0.01)and the flow rate of main portal vein(P< 0.01)decreased significantly compared with that before operation. The rates of rebleeding and mortality were 6.12%(6 cases)and 2.04%(2 cases),respectively.Ninety-one patients were followed up for 7 mo-14 years (median,48.57 mo).Long-term rates of rehemorrhage and encephalopathy were 4.40%(4 cases)and 3.30% (3 cases),respectively.Thirteen patients(14.29%)died mainly due to progressive hepatic dysfunction.Fiveand ten-year survival rates were 82.12%and 71.24%,respectively.CONCLUSION:Small-diameter proximal splenorenal venous shunt affords protection against variceal rehemorrhage with a low occurrence of encephalopathy in patients with normal liver function.
文摘Objective. To explore the correlations between the occurrence and severity of neglect and the region, range or extent of the decrease in regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF). Hemispatial neglect is caused by the damage of multiple sites and combined damage results in more severe neglect.
文摘Objective: To investigate the relationship between electroacupuncture (EA)-induced improvement of regional cerebral blood flow and the alternations of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and endothelin (ET) in rats with experimental vascular dementia (VD). Conclusion: EA can raise rCBF in the parietal lobe and hippocampus, elevate plasma VIP level and reduce plasma ET in rats with VD.
文摘Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of scalp acupuncture on cerebral blood flow in pseudobulbar paralysis patients for analyzing mechanisms of scalp acupuncture in the treatment of wind stroke. Conclusion: Scalp acupuncture has a fairly good therapeutic effect in improving stroke caused dysphagia and dysphonia and in facilitating cerebral blood flow.
文摘AIM:To investigate whether percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube placement is safe in patients with ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunts.METHODS: This was a retrospective study of all patients undergoing PEG insertion at our institution between June 1999 and June 2006. There were no VP shunt infections, although one patient in the PEG/VP group developed a minor peristomal infection during follow-up.CONCLUSION: Complications following PEG placement in patients with VP shunts were infrequent in this study.
文摘To investigate the morphological properties of pig cerebral bridging vein. Methods. There were differences in fibre arrangement and morphological properties between the outflow cuff segment and the cerebral bridging vein, just like a resistance valve, the outflow cuff segment may play an important role in stabilizing cerebral venous outflow and regulating intracranial pressure.
文摘MOST cases of encephalitis are caused by viruses but a few have an immunological basis, such as paraneoplastic encephalitis, with specific antibodies identified. This disorder results in prominent psychiatric symptoms followed by a rapid decline of the level of consciousness, central hypoventilation, seizures, involuntary movements and dysautonomia.
文摘AIM: To investigate the role of intestinal mucosal blood flow (IMBF) and motility in the damage of intestinal mucosal barrier in rats with traumatic brain injury. Decrease of intestinal motility and IMBF occur early in TBI, both are important pathogenic factors for stress-related damage of the intestinal mucosal barrier in TBI.
文摘OBJECTIVE To analyze and discuss about the clinicalcharacteristics, pathological types, surgical modalities andtechniques, and postoperative complications in children withtumor of posterior cranial fossa .METHODS Retrospective study was conducted on 102 cases ofpediatric tumor of posterior cranial fossa, admitted and treated inour hospital during the period of January 1996 to January 2007.All patients underwent microscopic surgical treatment. Early correct diagnosis, proper selection ofappropriate surgical modality and the surgical margin, propertreatment of postoperative complications, and the selecting rightradiotherapy or chemotherapy were the key factors in influencingthe prognostic outcome of children with tumor of posterior cranialfossa.

文摘OBJECTIVE: To study the character of mutants originating from Japanese encephalitis viruses and the relationship between the characterization of mutant strains and E protein expression. These mutants may have be related to the decrease in E protein expression.
