Research on Geographical Indications and Cultural Heritage of Famous Tea in Hubei

In the study, analysis was made on present situation and development measures of geographical indications and cultural heritage protection of famous teas in Hubei Province. In addition, 8 related suggestions were proposed as well.

Conservation priority for endemic birds of China's Mainland based on a phylogenetic framework

In this report, a conservation priority scenario for endemic birds of China's Mainland is proposed from a phylogenetic perspective. By utilizing and comparing seven phylogenetic diversity (PD) indices, the study shows that the top ifve endemic birds with high conservation priority are Ar-borophila ardens, A. gingica, A. ruifpectus, Lophophorus lhuysii and Alectoris magna respectively. The ranking of species, based on the IUCN Red List and PD indices, were compared by means of a Wilcox signed rank test and Pearson’s correlation, drawing the inference that the PD ranking of endemic birds for China's Mainland shows a distinct and statistically signiifcant difference from the IUCN rank-ing. Therefore, the ranking of conservation priority for endemic birds of China using PD indices might offer new insights on species conservation from an evolutionary-heritage perspective, serving as a complement to the IUCN ranking.

The Role of Traditional Irrigation Canals in a Long Term Environmental Perspective A Case Study in Southern France： The Durance Basin

The agricultural sector is often considered to be the largest water consumer and the policy aimed at saving irrigation water exists across Europe. The flip-side of such policy, however, is the disappearance of traditional irrigation canals since farmers are encouraged to turn to drip irrigation and overhead irrigation gradually. Given this, we would like to argue that traditional irrigation canals need to be reexamined. Such canals are not only built aquatic infrastructure, they are also the product of a culture and social relationship with water in the Mediterranean region. Canals form a complex system which is driven by environmental, economic and social factors. Our sociological and environmental research in Provence （and around the Durance basin more specifically） points up how the very dense territorial network of gravity-fed canals is useful in water management, as well as in other shared uses over the long-term. The findings underscore the positive environmental role played by these historical and anthropogenic constructions. They contribute to refilling the aquifer and also act as a valuable environmental good and service （e.g., run-off regulation, biodiversity, landscape, recreation, etc.）. Further, several local actors have underscored their role as part of an intangible cultural heritage and as important for the area＇s economic and social development. Such canals play a central role in sustainable development since beyond their productive role in agriculture, they play a social role （new uses） and an ecological role （as reservoirs for biodiversity and ecological corridors）.

The Effect of the Hot Springs at the Umm Qeis Archaeological Site and Museum

Several recent studies have pointed out that northern parts of Jordan are exposed to high levels of the effect of the hot spring, which is widely known to have severe impacts on health, vegetation and structures. North Jordan has a wealth of ancient heritage including six out of the ten Decapolis Cities. Air pollution that comes out from the hot springs is alleged to deteriorate and erode buildings, structures, statues and monuments through acid deposition. Therefore, this research was conducted to assess air quality at Gadara, the capital of the ancient Decapolis and suggest mitigation measures that have to be adopted in order to save the ancient heritage against further deterioration. Measurements revealed that most criteria air pollutants including sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide attain corresponding national ambient air quality standards. Atmospheric concentrations of NO are strongly linked to the amount of 03. Simultaneous exposure to SO2 and NO2 demonstrated that a catalytic reaction takes place which increases the rate of sulphate production after 30 h exposure.

Argentina and Brazil： Laws as Mediators of Social Identities

The research is a brief analysis of recent legislation in Argentina about the intangible heritage and its relationship with Brazilian instruments. This is a study about links between the two laws and their touch points and their differences. It will be seen that the legislative actions follow a common sense but are targeted for different acts of management of cultural heritage. We will be able to observe how legislation, whether it is Argentine or Brazilian, works as a mediator between the reclaiming of heritage （as in the acknowledgement of cultural practices） and the government actions towards cultural heritage. This shows that Argentina, despite not creating specific federal legislation regarding intangible cultural heritage, is aware of the need to preserve the cultural events that belong in this category of heritage

Jingdezhen is a bright star to make ceramic products among all cities of the world. The actual inheritance of the famille rose decoration and color enamel craftsmanship as China＇s ＂intangible cultural heritage＂ is restricted not only by historical change and geographical conditions and also by how to inherit the craftsmanship. In this paper, through the literature studies, sociology investigation, market research, and comparative analysis of the traditional pastel industry in Jingdezhen, the making flows of famille rose decoration and color enamel are introduced plus the author＇s understanding of famille rose decoration and color enamel, and also the understanding and inheritance of Jingdezhen traditional famille rose decoration and color enamel craftsmanship as ＂intangible cultural heritage＂ are discussed. Therefore, theoretical basis and practice guidance are provided for famille rose decoration and color enamel craftsmanship to develop toward the cultural industry, and also a reference in theory and practice is available for the inheritance and development of the handmade ceramic products as ＂intangible cultural heritage＂.

On Tourism Development Modes of Intangible Cultural Heritage in China

How to conserve and develop the intangible cultural heritage is one of the hot topics in both tourism industry and academic research area. In the past, argument of conflict relationship between tourism and intangible cultural heritage has prevailed, however, more and more researches now question it. Based on the analysis of values and characteristics of intangible cultural heritage, this paper considers that the relationship can be beneficial to both with the appropriate and modest development, meanwhile, this paper summarizes seven tourism development modes, and at last it gives some advice on integrative adoption of those development modes after the thorough comparison of the seven modes.

Research on the Digital Communication Strategy of Intangible Cultural Heritage under the New Media Environment

In the field of intangible cultural heritage＇ s digital protection, a lot of research work has been made by all countries in the world, while the research on the digital commuuication of intangible cultural heritage is few and especially rarely seen in China. Under the premise, in this paper, the factors influencing intangible cultural heritage in the communication process are analyzed based on the information characteristics of intangible cultural heritage and the advantages of I-Space framework model in researching information transfer. Also, combined with the birch bark making technology in Heilongjiang province, the knowledge-based and signified communication strategy of intangible cultural heritage is proposed, aiming at providing new ideas for the researches on the digital communication of intangible cultural heritage.

The time has come to recognize the extreme importance of the archaeological sites in Jordan. They provide a wealth evidence and precise information regarding ancient civilizations and cultures. The safeguarding of this cultural heritage is one of the most urgent priorities, that involve the proper conservation and preservation methods of all artifacts and buildings that have an important artistic and historic value. Conservation is a whole field in regarding the care and treatment of valuable artifacts, both movable and immovable. It has two aspects： （1） the control of the environment--to minimize the decay of artifacts and materials and （2） the treatment of these--in order to stop or slow down any deterioration and to stabilize them where possible against further dilapidation. The museum environment is a limited space dedicated not only to exhibition but also to the appropriate conservation of works of art. This article presents an overview of the types of damage and deterioration that air pollution causes to indoor cultural heritage materials and monuments.
