Evaluation of remaining useful life for corroded pipeline with finite element simulation and reliability theory 被引量:3

An integrated approach was proposed to evaluate the remaining useful life(RUL)of corroded petroleum pipelines.Two types of failure modes(i.e.,leakage and burst failure)were considered,and the corresponding limit state functions(LSFs)were established with the structural reliability theory.A power-law function was applied to model the growth of corrosion defects,and the effect of external environmental factors on the growth of the pipeline s defect was considered.Moreover,the result was compared with the commonly used linear growth model.After that,a finite element simulation model was established to calculate the burst pressure of the pipeline with corrosion defects,and its accuracy was verified through hydraulic burst test and by comparison with international criteria.On that basis,the probability that the pipeline may fail was calculated with Monte Carlo simulation(MCS)and by considering the LSFs,and the pipeline s RUL was obtained accordingly.Furthermore,sensitivity analysis was conducted to determine the sensitivity parameters for the corrosion and RUL of the pipeline.The results indicate that the radial corrosion rate,wall thickness and working pressure have a great influence on the failure probability of the pipeline.Thus,corresponding measures should be adopted during the operation process of the pipeline to reduce the corrosion rate and increase the wall thickness,so as to prolong the pipeline s RUL. 展开更多

They produce differen... Wheat ranks first among cereal crops cultivated in the world. In its production, diseases like powdery mildew, fusarium head blight and rusts caused by fungal pathogens represent a major problem. They produce different symptoms that cause severe crop damage by infecting the spikes, leaves, roots, stems and grains. They are causing losses both by reducing the quantity of the harvested crop and the quality of the product. Quality problems of the harvested product can be due to shrivelled seed, which are frequently found as a consequence of the infection by leaf pathogens, such as mildews, rusts and Septoria. Fusarium head blight is the major culprit for mycotoxin contamination from the harvested grain, causing economic losses and in the worst casing human and animal health problems. In severe epidemics, all these fungal diseases can significantly reduce yield. Resistance to fungi is beneficial not only from a commercial point of view (yield), but also because of the reduced levels of mycotoxins. The integration of transgenic approaches offers a potential chemical-free and environment-friendly solution for controlling fungal pathogens. If vibrations are beyond the tolerable limit, the machine and its operator health will be under the risk. In this work, the vibration of a mining truck at different operational conditions are simulated and discussed. To achieve this aim, three haul roads with low, medium and poor qualities are considered based on the ISO standard. Accordingly, the vibration of a mining truck in different speeds, payload and distribution qualities of materials in the dump body are evaluated in each haul road quality using Trucksim software. The simulation results with statistical discussions indicate that the truck speed and the materials distribution quality have significant effects on the root mean square(RMS) of vertical vibrations. However, the effect of the payload is not considerable on the RMS. Moreover, the accumulation of materials on the rear side of the truck dump body is efficient on the vibrational health risk. 展开更多

The aim of this paper is to present graphically the behaviour of a simulation model to the varying parameters and to establish the suitability of this representation as a valid tool for the analysis of the same parameters. In this paper, we define parameter combinatorial diagram as the joint graphical representation of all box plots related to the adjustment between real and simulated data, by setting and/or changing the parameters of the simulation model. To do this, we start with a box plot representing the values of an objective adjustment function, achieving these results when varying all the parameters of the simulation model, Then we draw the box plot when setting all the parameters of the model, for example, using the median or average. Later, we get all the box plots when carrying out simulations combining fixed or variable values of the model parameters. Finally, all box plots obtained are represented neatly in a single graph. It is intended that the new parameter combinatorial diagram is used to examine and analyze simulation models useful in practice. This paper presents combinatorial diagrams of different examples of application as in the case of hydrologic models of one, two, three, and five parameters. 展开更多
