In this context, the development of low-carbon economy has become the focus of urban construction and economic development. Carbon finance, as a product of low-carbon economy in the context of financial innovation, combines the low-carbon industries and economic development together, and has significant effects on low-carbon economy development and low-carbon urban construction. To build financial support system under the low-carbon economy circumstance, to develop carbon finance, is the necessary way China has to go through to develop a low-carbon economy, and also is the inevitable reouirement to achieve sustainable economic development.展开更多

To reach at economic practicability of solar energy sources, Jordan needs to accelerate the development of the national photovoltaic projects. The economic and financial analysis of the 75 MW Photovoltaic Project for Jordan is presented in this paper. Comparing analysis considers, seven different scenarios regarding the type of the modules and of the mounting system as well as three different cases to further evaluate the effects of land requirements based on an equivalent installed capacity. Based on the analyzed scenarios, it was found that the project will serve as a ＂fuel saver＂, as the energy generated at the Jordan Photovoltaic Project replaces energy generated at the thermal plant with the highest variable costs in the grid. This replacement has it, which avoids the CO2 emissions associated with thermal generation, as the further advantage.展开更多
This paper gives a systematic view of the new trends of global carbon finance innovation under the challenge of global climate change and in the process of transition to achieve economic growth from "high carbon&...This paper gives a systematic view of the new trends of global carbon finance innovation under the challenge of global climate change and in the process of transition to achieve economic growth from "high carbon" to 'low carbon",covering the following aspects:the structure,status quo and developing trend of global carbon market.The paper discusses the innovation in financial organization and service systems and governments' overall guidance and policy support,and draws the conclusion that the world is undergoing massive changes with governments actively responding to carbon finance to embrace the tremendous opportunities for clean energy and climate change in financial industry.To seize the opportunity,a complete and overall carbon finance system of China should be put in the top of the agenda.Given the current tasks of energy conservation and pollution reduction and the growing demand for capital input,China needs to construct an clear of policy guidance,a diversified financia service system,and a multi-approach carbon finance system to intensify and widen the participation of financial industry,to expand financing channels for sustainable economy and spread risks,and finally,work out an inexpensive solution to the realization of China's low carbon target.展开更多

The empirical results show that economic growth and carbon emissions,and financial development and carbon emissions have unidirectional Granger causality relationships. Economic growth and urbanization will increase carbon emissions,while financial development will reduce carbon emissions during the initial stage but have little impact on carbon emissions over the long term. Economic growth and urbanization are the main variables to forecast the degree of variance of carbon emissions,while financial development is the least important variable to forecast the degree of variance of carbon emissions. Finally,this study puts forward policy suggestions on improving environmental quality as economic growth,financial development and urbanization occur.展开更多
