The purpose of this study was to investigate the curative effect of microsurgery in children with different types of tethered cord syndrome. In this study, we analyzed 326 patients with tethered cord syndrome, aged from 2 months to 14 years old, who were followed for 3-36 months after microscopic surgery. Based on clinical manifestations and imaging findings, these patients were classified into five types: tight ilium terminale (53 cases), lipomyelome- ningocele (55 cases), lipomatous malformation (124 cases), postoperative adhesions (56 cases), and split cord malformation (38 cases). All patients underwent microsurgery. Curative effects were measured before and 3 months after surgery by Spina Bifida Neurological Scale based on sensory and motor functions, reflexes, and bladder and bowel function. The results showed that Spina Bifida Neurological Scale scores improved in all five types after surgery. Overall effective rates in these patients were 75%. Effective rates were 91% in tight ilium terminale, 84% in lipomyelomeningocele, 65% in lipomatous malformation, 75% in postoperative adhesion, and 79% in split cord mal- formation. Binary logistic regression analysis revealed that types of tethered cord syndrome (lipoma-type or not) and symptom duration before surgery were independent influencing factors of surgical outcome. These results show that therapeutic effect is markedly different in patients with different types of tethered cord syndrome. Suitable clinical classification for tethered cord syndrome will be helpful in predicting prognosis and guiding treatment. This trial has been registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (registration number: ChiCTR1800016464).展开更多

Samples were obtained by the ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) Faxian during the virgin cruise of the R/V Kexue in 2014 with the application of push cores. The chemical compositions of the sediments show that the hydrothermal sediments near the hydrothermal vent are mainly composed of SO3, ZnO and Fe203. Moreover, the hydrothermal sediments are also highly enriched in Pb, As, Sb, Hg, Se, Ag, Ba, Mo and Cd comparing with previous analysis results. On the other hand, the concentrations of St, Hg andAg in studied sediments are strongly and positively correlated, these elements can be used as an hydrothermal indicator. In addition, a factor analysis of the sediments suggested that the sediments were mainly influenced by hydrothermal origin, and terrestrial and biogenic input are limited in studied area. It is also suggested that different stages of crystallization were involved in the formation of hydrothermal chimney from factor analysis.展开更多

The stratigraphic records of these proxies have shown that during the last 35 ka the Okinawa Trough has gone through 7 stronger cold-climate events (C1–C7) and 9 terrigenous matter-decreasing events (e2–e9), of which, the C1 corresponds to the cold episode occurring in the middle late Holocene, C2–C4 and C7 correspond to the H1–H4 events, respectively. e1 and e3–e8 correspond to the decrease of sea surface temperature (SST), respectively. The terrigenous inputs increased when Heinrich events occurred. Climate colding resulted in the decrease of terrigenous matter transported by rivers, and the increase of that transported by winter monsoon. Heinrich events are closely related to East Asia monsoon. During the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, 15.5–25.8 Cal ka BP), reduction environment fluctuated strongly, bringing forth three stronger reduction events (R1–R3) and one weaker reduction event (O), of which, R1–R3 correspond to the decrease of SST and increase of terrigenous nutrient and O corresponds to the decrease of terrigenous nutrient. The fluctuation of reduction condition must be related to the change of sea surface productivity.展开更多

By optimizing the thickness and width of the electrodes, we improved the trapping ability and trap scalability. By using some practical experimental operation methods, we successfully minimized the trap heating rate. Consequently, we could trap a string of up to 38 ions, and a zigzag structure with 24 ions, and transport two trapped ions to different zones. We also studied the influences of the ion chip surface on the ion lifetime. The excellent trapping ability and flexibility of operation of the planar ion trap shows that it has high feasibility for application in the development a practical quantum information processor or quantum simulator.展开更多

Rats in the EA groups were treated for20 min, once daily for 7 days. The mechanical withdrawal threshold was evaluated at 1 day preoperatively and at 3, 5, and 7 days postoperatively. At 7days postoperatively, hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining was used to investigate spinal morphological changes. Spinal EP2 messenger ribonucleic acid(m RNA) was detected using reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS: After the EA treatment, the mechanical withdrawal threshold was up-regulated compared with the model group(P < 0.05). The expression of EP2 m RNA was up-regulated in the spinal cord on day 7 after surgery(P < 0.05). EA stimulation tended to down-regulate EP2 m RNA expression compared with the model group(P > 0.05). The EA 1and EA 2 groups showed a larger treatment effect than the EA 3 group. The HE results showed that EA can improve spinal histomorphology induced by neuropathic pain.CONCLUSION: EA had a strong analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. The therapeutic effect of EA on the down-regulation of spinal EP2 m RNA expression may be greater when either local acupoints or a distal-proximal combination of acupoints are used than when distal points are used.展开更多
