During the inter-war period, this ethnic community started the process of self-configuration and we intend to emphasize the role of education and culture for identity shaping. This paper will present cultural politics in Dobrogea, especially the role of the Muslim Seminary in Babadag/Medgidia in preserving the religion, language, and the cultural heritage of the Tatar community in Romania.展开更多

The links between these uses and Taoist expectations regarding ever-lasting life are discussed herein in the context of that diplomatic mission. It explores the different understandings of what theriac meant in the Byzantine and in the Tang courts. This sheds light on the kind of different misunderstandings, sometimes of an ironical nature, which may happen in intercultural contacts of political-diplomatic nature.展开更多

Such a situation occurs in north of Barlad, on The Sohodau's Hill. Morphological study of the quarry paleosols from north of Barlad was accomplished based on field observations and macroscopic physic-chemical results. Three levels of paleosols with variable thickness were determined. These three fossils layers are interbedded by four loess deposits. The physical-chimical data provide important information for the paleosol genesis and depositional/climatic environments. The carbon content and C/N ratio indicate the strength of pedogenesis in the Pleistocene and trends of biomass accumulation.展开更多

The Romanian coastal Black Sea is in a continuously degradation due to the destructive action exerted by waves on the shore and, respectively, to the instability phenomena that manifest itself in the area. There are presented the influences of different causes of the degradation, the characteristics of the seaside shoreline and the interventions already made. There are done evolution foresights of the ground instability phenomena as well as shoreline degradation and recommend measures for rehabilitation.展开更多

A method for water aeration and the installation used to implement it are described and the associated advantages regarding the reduction in the level of eutrophication are highlighted. The hydraulic installation for improving the quality of water from lakes, basins, reservoirs or slow flowing rivers was designed and tested in our hydraulics laboratory during a research project. It is floatable, environmentally friendly, and energetically autonomous, being powered by photovoltaic panels, which together with rechargeable batteries can assure a continuous operation. This installation could also be used in early stages of wastewater treatment. Experimental results regarding the performance curves of the hydraulic installation are also presented.展开更多

The 12 teachers' stories highlight myriad issues facing educators across the globe. Each teacher had recently participated in a research-based and government-sponsored professional development program focused on second language acquisition and culturally responsive pedagogy. Themes emerged through the analysis of individual interviews and classroom observations. These findings highlight teachers' perceptions of effective professional development, along with identification of institutional barriers impeding the delivery of best practices to CLD students. Cross-cultural comparisons are made which suggest an inconsistency in educational services for CLD students, along with an urgent need for professional development courses for teachers and administrators. The educators' voices shed light on both the challenges and rewards associated with this important work.展开更多

Once with increasing pressures on the system and the complexity of the issues, there has been developed a number of mechanisms by which human activity (LU change) influence the stability and services of ecosystems and the need for planning tools are changing rapidly. Motivated by dramatic climatic change in recent decades and especially increased frequency of extreme events--2006 and 2010, the study focused on developing models and scenarios of climatic change, especially those related to land use change and flooding affecting local communities/regions. Thus, in the given circumstances, the best option is to foreseen a policy on the Lower Danube riverbed, followed by a series of advanced tools for exploring the 4D reconnection (longitudinal, lateral, vertical and temporal) and a well prepared monitoring system which alert address to detected threats. 4D reconnection of the lower Danube floodplain will provide a spatial planning tool, developed in accordance with this three features, and built to design, analyse and evaluate long-term policies in an ecological, social, economic and cultural context.展开更多

The analysis from the inside and the honest reflection of the interplay between poetry, music, and contemporary popular culture might lead to a better understanding of the poetry made at the end of the 20th century--beginning of the 21 st century. The corpus analyzed is a series of poems written between 1994 and the present day, under the generic title of ditty, published in several books (between which a bilingual pamphlet, Ditties/Cfntecelce), 1998), and the paper speaks about their genesis, their poetics, and hopes to help the process of their interpretation, as well as to bring a new interpretation of the poetry/music relationship展开更多

How is it possible that in a spam of only 50 years, the Berbers were able to go pass the Pyrenees and practically ruled what today is Portugal, Spain, and region of France? This article attempts to uncover the sociological aspects that helped the Berbers and Arabs rule the Iberian Peninsula quite rapidly. It was due to the commonalities and not the differences that Spain's political leaders went from Arian Visigoths to Muslims for the next 800 years. Ignacio Olague's book La Revoluci6n Isldmica en Occidente (The Islamic Revolution in the West), also translated as Les Arabes N'ont Jamais Envahi l'Espagne (The Arabs Never Invaded Spain), serves as one instrument to shed light to how this historical event took place. The result of this fusion of cultures not only created a rich civilization that would planted the seeds of the Renaissance three centuries before it began in Italy, but also contributed to the formation of a new language (between 720-750 AD): El castellano o espahol (Spanish language), which today is the official language in 21 st countries.展开更多

Cimaterol has a higher solubility than that of mabuterol. The experimental data of solubility were correlated by four density-based models. The correlation accuracy highly depends on the system investigated, which is mainly determined by the density ranges and temperature.展开更多

Even though the terrestrial environment is present in the area, the predominance of the aquatic environment led to the existence of a particular macrophytic flora. At the contact point of the sea-water and freshwater, physical, chemical and biological processes occur. As a consequence, researchers consider these coastal waters special ecosystem, in which Musura bay is the most representative one. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the study of aquatic submerged and floating macrophytes. The present study took place over two years (2013-2014). In each year, a number of expeditions were made in different seasons in order to observe the diverse flora and flora associations. This due to seasonal variation in water quality, and might be a significantly seasonality of the vegetation also. The importance of the studies regarding flora of the Danube Delta, consist in the fact that the plants in this area are of social and economical importance, but also very important for environmental conservation.展开更多

In the present study, we investigated the effect of Roman chamomile essential oil inhalation for two weeks on depressive-like behaviors in Wistar-Kyoto(WKY) rats. We found that inhalation of either Roman chamomile or one of its main components α-pinene,attenuated depressive-like behavior in WKY rats in the forced swim test. Using isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation analysis(iTRAQ), we found that inhalation of α-pinene increased expression of proteins that are involved in oxidative phosphorylation, such as cytochrome c oxidase subunit 6C-2, cytochrome c oxidase subunit 7A2, ATPase inhibitor in the hippocampus, and cytochrome c oxidase subunit 6C-2, ATP synthase subunit e, Acyl carrier protein, and Cytochrome b-c1 complex subunit 6 in the PFC(prefrontal cortex). In addition, using the quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction technique, we confirmed an increase of parvalbumin mRNA expression in the hippocampus, which was shown to be upregulated by 2.8-fold in iTRAQ analysis, in α-pinene treated WKY rats. These findings collectively suggest the involvement of mitochondrial functions and parvalbumin-related signaling in the antidepressant effect of α-pinene inhalation.展开更多
