The aluminum matrix syntactic foam was fabricated by pressure infiltration technique,and the filling material is syntactic foam material with fly ash cenosphere as the main component and polyurethane foam as the binder.Split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)dynamic compression and quasi-static tests were carried out to examine the compressive response of syntactic foam in this study.Then the dynamic constitutive model was established.Results show that the compressive stress-strain curve of syntactic aluminum foam is similar to that of other metallic foam materials:both kinds of aluminum matrix syntactic foams have strain rate effect,and the syntactic foam has higher compressive strength and energy absorption than the same density aluminum foams.However,due to the different sizes of cenospheres,the dynamic compression results of two kinds of syntactic foams are different,and the energy absorption effect of syntactic foam with small size under dynamic impact is the best.In the range of strain rate and density studied experimentally,the curves of constitutive model fit well with the curves of experimental data. 展开更多

The strain rate effects of aramid fiber material, quasi-static and ballistic impact perforation of composite laminates made of aramid fabric and phenolic resin/PVB are investigated respectively by means of MTS, split Hopkinson tension bars and ballistic impact apparatus. The tensile impact experiments on aramid fiber material are performed in strain rate range from 0.01/s to 1000/s. Experimental results show that the mechanical properties of aramid fiber material are insensitive to strain rate in the range from 0. 01/s to 1 000/s. An energy model to predict final velocity of composite laminates subjected to ballistic impact is proposed on the basis of experimental data of quasi-static perforation through the targets. The predicted final velocities show good agreement with the experimental final velocity. 展开更多

When does a diblock copolymer probe the interfacial rheological effect?

Lateral diffusion of diblock copolymer residing on the interfaces between two immiscible liquids is investigated at single molecular level. Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy was used to study the diffusion of fluorescence-labeled diblock copolymer,polystyrene-b-polyisoprene, at the interface formed between two immiscible liquids. The interfaces are formed between N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) and a few immiscible liquids, n-alkane and polyisoprene. Interfacial diffusion coefficient of the diblock copolymer probe is found to decrease monotonously with the increase of the molecular length of the interface constituting liquids. The decrease of diffusion coefficient follows the prediction by Einstein relation using the viscosity of the constituting liquids as the variables only for interfaces between DMF and very small n-alkanes. For interfaces formed between DMF and bigger alkanes and especially between DMF and polyisoprene, the diffusion coefficient is much higher than the calculated value,indicating that the probe molecule starts to probe the much less viscous interfacial region because the interfacial width gets larger,whose thickness is comparable to the molecule size of the liquids. 展开更多
