On solving fossilization of spoken English of non-English college students by means of communication strategies

The paper starts with the notions of communicative competence and communicative strategies, and proposes that communicative strategies competence, one of the four communicative competences, plays an important role in improving the overall competence in communication. Meanwhile, communication strategies, which are indispensable in communicative activities, make it necessary for teachers to cultivate students＇ strategies awareness and enable them to practice communicative strategies so as to further develop their communicative strategies.

Analysis of the Current Situation of Spoken Foreign Language Teaching and Learning in Ethnic Regions

With the enhancement of friendship between different nations, foreign language learning has become more and more important. In particular, spoken language is playing a vital role in foreign language learning and practice. In order to improve foreign language teaching and learning proficiency in ethnic regions, the author analyses the current situation of spoken foreign language teaching and learning in ethnic regions and suggests some ways to solve the existing problems.

The Theoretical Framework of Interactive Language Teaching

Interactive language teaching which is the improvement on the traditional language teaching, suits the social request that students can communicate effectively in English. This paper aims to explore the theoretical basis, teaching principles and two teaching models, and states that interactive language teaching is an interaction-based pedagogy, in which students are the center of the learning and teaching activities while a teacher is the initiator.

An investigational study of non-English majors＇ international communication competence and countermeasures

Based on the data collected from the questionnaires, this paper discusses various problems concerning intercultural communication competence the non-English majors at ＂high-leveled, applicationoriented＂ level faced in Shanghai Institute of Technology. Besides, it analyzes the necessity and feasibility in developing intercultural communication competence, and puts forward some constructive suggestions to enhance intercultural communication competence in adult English teaching.

Technological breakthroughs occur at an ever-increasing rate thereby revolutionizing human health and wellness care.Technological advancements have drastically changed the structure and organization of the healthcare industry.McKinsey Global Institute estimates that 800 million workers worldwide could be replaced by robots by the year 2030.There is already a robotic revolution happening in healthcare wherein robots have made tasks and procedures more efficient and safer.Locsin and Ito has addressed the threat to nursing practice with human nurses being replaced by humanoid robots.Routine nursing care dictated solely by prescribed procedures and accomplishment of nursing tasks would be best performed by machines.With the future practice of nursing in a technologically advanced future transcending the implementation of nursing actions to achieve predictable outcomes,how can human nurses remain relevant as practitioners of nursing?Nurses should be involved in deciding which aspects of their practice can be delegated to technology.Nurses should oversee the introduction of automated technology and artificial intelligence ensuring their practice to be more about the universal aspects of human care continuing under a novel system.Nursing education and nursing research will change to encompass a differentiated demand for professional nursing practice with,and not for,robots in healthcare.

A study of communicative approach in the perspective of teaching ontology

This paper approaches the Communicative Approach （CA） from ontological perspective by making structural and functional analyses with consideration of influential variables in the communicative language teaching. In terms of entitative dimension, the basic components of the CA are communicative subjects, context and situation, content, and mode. From the functional perspective, the CA helps to improve the learners＇ ability to communicate in the target language, the dual construction of the learners and the target culture, and the mutual development of the teacher and the learners.

The psychological teaching approach to basic foreign language teaching

Basic foreign language teaching for language majors plays a significant role in the process of foreign language teaching and is also a crucial stage in the training of foreign language talents. During the stage teachers should learn about students＇ learning motives and the beginners＇ psychological state to rouse students＇ interest and mobilize their initiatives so that students can change from passive learning to active learning. The teaching effects will thereby be substantially enhanced.

Barriers in performing physical assessment among nursing students:An integrative review

Objectives:This study aimed to identify barriers in performing physical assessments among nursing students through integrative review study.Methods:The literature were searched in Medline,CINAHL,ScienceDirect,Web of Science,ProQuest,and Taylor&Francis Online using the descriptors barrier,physical assessment,nursing student et al.Only English-language and peer-reviewed journal articles were included,and there were no year restrictions.Results:Twelve articles were selected for review.Two aspects were extracted:the barriers included personal challenges,challenges related to nursing education,challenges related to clinical practice;establishing competency-based education learning as a method to reduce physical assessment barriers.Student competencies and experiences were influenced by various factors that collectively hindered their successful performance of physical assessments.Conclusions:The review findings provide valuable insights into the complex issues involved in the performance of physical assessments and guidance for improvement in practice.A collaborative effort should be made to address the issues often faced by nursing students in performing routine physical assessments.Also,more constructive and competency-based teaching methods should be integrated into academic and clinical settings.

On the enlightenment of metaphor to English teaching

In cognitive linguistics, metaphor acts as an important tool in cognition. This paper explores and exposes the value of metaphor in English teaching. Thus, metaphor, as a significant way of thinking, not only provides the new way for English teaching, but also proposes the viewpoint that language teaching is one of the fields for cultivating thinking ability and creativity.

On the vocabulary acquisition theories and vocabulary teaching of foreign languages

As one of the important phases of language acquisition process, vocabulary acquisition has great impact on one＇s language competence and communication competence. However, there are still some problems in students＇ vocabulary acquisition. This paper first discusses the current problems in vocabulary teaching, and then analyzes some laws in vocabulary acquisition, and at last it discusses the advantages of making use of Internet in vocabulary teaching, which aims to find a possible solution to the problems.

Teaching for physical literacy: Implications to instructional design and PETE

Physical education teachers play an important role in helping students＇ development of the motor skills needed to be physically literate individuals. Research suggests that teacher made instructional design decisions can lead to enhanced motor skill learning. After presenting a model of evidence-based research this paper presents information that will help teachers plan and execute lessons designed to improve students＇ motor skills. Variables that impact motor skill learning in physical education including time, type of practice, content, presentation and organizational strategies, and student skill level are presented and discussed. A brief section on student attitudes, their relation to motor skill learning and to physical literacy is included. Motor skills are needed for physically literate people to enjoy lifelong physical activity. Physical education teachers and the decisions they make contribute to students＇ learning and whether the goal of physical literacy is met.

Using critical thinking activities as tools to integrate language skills

Every day communication is an event in which there is an interactional relationship between interlocutors. This interaction needs whole language in which language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing; associated knowledge of vocabulary, meaning, syntax, etc.; and also, thinking skills are interwoven. This means that language should be kept whole and ＂if language isn＇t kept whole, it isn＇t language anymore＂ （Rigg, 1991, p. 522, cited in Richards ＆ Rodgers, 2001, p. 109）. In English as a Second Language/English Foreign Language （ESL/EFL） learning settings, improvement in one skill can affect the development of other skills. A particular course may highlight certain skills, but if the teacher is creative or specific tasks and problems are used in language learning settings, learners are provided with the opportunity to improve multiple, integrated skills. This paper aims at elaborating on critical thinking approach to language learning and introducing practical ideas for helping teachers to integrate language and thinking skills. It introduces 3 critical thinking activities （Dialogue journals, reading logs and literacy portfolios）, and also discusses how implementing them can serves as a way to integrate language skills. It also maintains that engaging learners in these activities helps them use authentic materials and solve problems of their own interest that in turn has a positive effect on student＇s motivation.

Effectiveness of quality physical education in improving students' manipulative skill competency

Purpose： This study aimed to examine the extent to which the quality physical education teaching （QPET） practices contributed to improving 4th- and 5th-grade students＇ manipulative skill competency. Methods： Participants were 9 elementary physical education （PE） teachers and their 4th- and 5th-grade students （n = 2709 3420）. The students＇ skill competency was assessed with 3 manipulative skills using PE metrics assessment rubrics. The PE teachers＇ levels of QPET were assessed by coding 63 videotaped lessons using the assessing quality teaching rubrics （AQTR）, which consisted of 4 essential dimensions including task design, task presentation, class management, and instructional guidance. Codes were confirmed through inter-rater reliability （82.4%, 84.5%, and 94%）. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, multiple R2 regression models, and independent sample t tests. Results： This study indicated that the 4 essential dimensions of QPET were all significant contributors to students＇ manipulative skill competency. These predictors were significantly higher for boys than for girls in soccer and striking skills, while they were significantly higher for girls than for boys in throwing skill competency. Of the 4 essential dimensions of QPET, task presentation played the most significant role in contributing to all 3 skill competencies for both boys and girls. Further, students who experienced high QPET were significantly more skillfully competent than those students who did not have this experience. Conclusion： It was concluded that the QPET practices played a significantly critical role in contributing to students＇ manipulative skill competency.

This paper discusses about the definition, types, ways to create a CBI lesson, advantages and the problems of CBI, as well as the assessment of CBI.

Researches on the challenges and opportunities of smart phones on the ideological and political education

Mobile use of new media has played an important role in the healthy development of college students and provided convenient conditions whether in learning or school life,which also brings a new educational platform and opportunities for college ideological and political education.From the perspective of dialectical unity, this paper first analyzes the educational function of smart phones,than focuses on the opportunities and challenges for the ideological and political education brought by the smartphone.Results of this study will play a certain reference level to imorove the ideological and oolitical education.

The ＂Competent Literary＂ Teacher： The New Perspectives of Initial Teacher Training

The aim of the paper is to describe the literary competence of teachers as a dimension of the knowledge for the teaching, which can be extended to all aspects of the professional teacher transformation. Among the various knowledge, competences, and dispositions the shape its legacy, the literary competence becomes the main turning point between pedagogical knowledge and specialized knowledge, between core and characterizing disciplines. The literary competence lives in the intersection between different kinds of competence （linguistic competence, communication competence, reading competence, writing competences, interpretive competence, discursive competence, cultural competence, cross-cultural competence, pragmatic and strategic competence and social competence）. The approach offers a framework for pedagogy of the literary competence in the teacher training as substantial experience and expertise able to increase the professional repertoire of teachers in training fields. This paper provides food for thought for enrichment and enhancement of the literary competence and its use in teaching.

Design and Simulation of Single Neuron Adaptive PID Controller

Nurses’perception on competency requirement and training demand for intensive care nurses

Objectives Various authors have explored the combination of competencies necessary for ensuring safe and quality care carried out by nurses in Intensive Care Units(ICUs).Nurses’perception of training is an element that must be studied in order to adopt appropriate educational measures.This study aimed to evaluate nurses’perception of the importance of intensive care training in Spain.Methods A descriptive,cross-sectional,multicentre study was conducted on a national level in Spain.Totally 85 ICUs took part in the study.The questionnaire used was developed using the Delphi method and had 66 items to investigate nurses’perception on competency requirements and training needs.The evaluation was conducted by a 10-point Likert scale.Results The sample was 568 Spanish nurses.Significant differences were found on an academic level,in terms of gender and hospital type,and in the professional experience of the nurse when it comes to evaluating the different training items;the differences in overall questionnaire scores among these groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).The nurses analyzed believe that previous training and professional experience in other care services are necessary before starting work in an ICU.Conclusion Implementation of training programs tailored to the needs of critical nurses had benefits for nurses and the health system.Nurses benefited from training focused on the skills and knowledge of each moment of their working life.Nurses have a different evaluation of their training needs throughout their professional cycle.Therefore,their training must be adapted to the professional stage of each nurse.
