BUILDING A MODERATELY PROSPEROUS SOCIETY IN ALL RESPECTS——Poverty Reduction: Xi Jinping’s Statements and Chinese Path

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese people have been struggling against poverty amid national development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China(CPC). Since reform and opening up, in particular, China has planned for and organized development-oriented poverty reduction practices on a broad scale with remarkable achievements and blazed a new path of development-oriented poverty reduction with Chinese characteristics. This path is both an essential component of Chinese socialism and a result of the CPC’s ideological improvement on poverty reduction. Since the 18 th CPC National Congress in 2012, the whole Party, country, and society have been called upon to fight the battle against poverty on a full-scale under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statements on poverty reduction, unveiling a new stage for China’s development-oriented poverty reduction in the new era. China’s unprecedented poverty reduction achievements have enriched the path of poverty reduction with Chinese characteristics. Xi Jinping’s insightful and coherent statements on poverty reduction represent the latest results of Marxist anti-poverty theories and comprise an essential part of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era. His guidelines are the basis for the brilliant achievements of China’s poverty reduction endeavors, and will contribute Chinese experience and wisdom to global poverty governance.

An Extended Ontology Model and Ontology Checking Based on Description Logics

Ontology is defined as an explicit specification of a conceptualization. In this paper, an extended ontology model was constructed using description logics, which is a 5-tuples including term set, individual set, term definition set, instantiation assertion set and term restriction set. Based on the extended model, the issue on ontology checking was studied with the conclusion that the four kinds of term checking, including term satisfiability checking, term subsumption checking, term equivalence checking and term disjointness checking, can be reduced to the satisfiability checking, and satisfiability checking can be transformed into instantiation consistence checking.

The Application of Stylistics in British and American Literature Teaching

Subversive Ambiguity in the Poetry of Delmira Agustini, Alfonsina Storni, and Giovanna Pollarolo

This paper analyzes the poetry of Delmira Agustini, Alfonsina Storni, and Giovanna Pollarolo, three Latin American poets who collectively spanned the arc of the 20th century, in order to demonstrate that they were all acting to subvert certain stereotypical notions propagated by society and by canonical literature. While Agustini used a parodic discourse to deconstruct the sacrality of masculinity, Storni employed parody and excessive calculated use of quotes from canonical male authors to subvert the traditional images and roles assigned to women. Parody, hyperbolic images, and ambiguity will be analyzed here as the major literary means used by these two poets to criticize the deep-rooted, gendered discourse of their times. Pollarolo＇s poetry, as well as that of Stomi, will be analyzed as ＂minor＂ literature, as described in the theories of Deleuze and Guattari

This work deals with the power exponent 1rand 2r respectively of the maximal and second-maximal prime factors of the order of simple K4-group, and the classification for simple 4{5,7}K--group G (i.e. G can not be divided by 5 nor by 7 or ()Gp= 4 ), simple 5 -4K-group G (i.e. G can not divided by 5 and ()Gp=4) and simple 7-4K-group G (i.e. G can not divided by 7 and ()Gp= 4). It is derived that 1r =1, 2 and 4, and 2r is not greater than 4. All the simple 4K-groups with order 235,237abcdabcdpp and 2357abcd are obtained.

Theory-guided electrocatalyst engineering:From mechanism analysis to structural design

The exploitation of competent electrocatalysts is a key issue of the broad application of many promising electrochemical processes,including the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),the oxygen evolution reaction(OER),the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),the CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)and the nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR).The traditional searches for good electrocatalysts rely on the trial-and-error approaches,which are typically tedious and inefficient.In the past decades,some fundamental principles,activity descriptors and catalytic mechanisms have been established to accelerate the discovery of advanced electrocatalysts.Hence,it is time to summarize these theory-related research advances that unravel the structure-performance relationships and enables predictive ability in electrocatalysis studies.In this review,we summarize some basic aspects of catalytic theories that are commonly used in the design of electrocatalysts(e.g.,Sabatier principle,d-band theory,adsorption-energy scaling relation,activity descriptors)and their relevance.Then,we briefly introduced the fundamental mechanisms and central challenges of HER,OER,ORR,CO_(2)RR and NRR electrocatalysts,and highlight the theory-based efforts used to address the challenges facing these electrocatalysis processes.Finally,we propose the key challenges and opportunities of theory-driven electrocatalysis on their future.

An Overview of General Theory of Security

Cyber security lacks comprehensive theoretical guidance. General security theory, as a set of basic security theory concepts, is intended to guide cyber security and all the other security work. The general theory of security aims to unify the main branches of cyber security and establish a unified basic theory. This paper proposal an overview on the general theory of security, which is devoted to constructing a comprehensive model of network security. The hierarchical structure of the meridian-collateral tree is described. Shannon information theory is employed to build a cyberspace security model. Some central concepts of security, i.e., the attack and defense, are discussed and several general theorems on security are presented.

A Review of the Nonlinear Dynamics of Intraseasonal Oscillations

In recent years,significant progress has been made regarding theories of intraseasonal oscillations (ISOs) (also known as the Madden-Julian oscillation (MJO) in the tropics).This short review introduces the latest advances in ISO theories with an emphasis particularly on theoretical paradigms involving nonlinear dynamics in the following aspects:(1) the basic ideas and limitations of the previous and current theories and hypotheses regarding the MJO,(2) the new multi-scale theory of the MJO based on the intraseasonal planetary equatorial synoptic dynamics (IPESD) framework,and (3) nonlinear dynamics of ISOs in the extratropics based on the resonant triads of Rossby-Haurwitz waves.

Hazard Mitigation through a Systemic Model of Accident to a Socio-Technical System： A Case Study

This paper presents the STAMP （system-theoretic accident modeling and processes） accident model, based on systems theory, and describes its application in the context of risk prevention related to the remediation of contaminated sediments. The implementation of the model is described, and results are presented both in methodological and technical terms. The goal of this article is to emphasize the need of new approaches to take into account hazards and accidents within socio-technical systems.

An Annotation of Language Teacher Beliefs in View of Educational Culture

The research on foreign language （FL） teachers＇ cognition and its development has been attracting attention in the field of applied linguistics. However, the gap between teaching theories and truths, teacher beliefs and behaviors can only be annotated by an in-depth investigation of belief determinants （BD） that are shaped by specific educational culture. Based on an investigation of language teacher beliefs, this paper is an annotation of language teacher beliefs in view of educational culture. By using both qualitative and quantitative methods of interviewing forefront teachers and making a literature review, it intends to reveal the dynamic nature of teacher beliefs as the teaching reality in view of the impact and significance of educational culture. It hammers home with the conclusion that the teachers-role-fulfillment in China is based on their real beliefs and loaded with cultural, social, and subject pressure; it is not a lincal impartment from theory to practice, from advocating to implementing, but a selective practice with teachers＇ active cognition and adaptation towards the local educational culture.

The Status Quo of Topics Choosing in English Majors＇ Academic Writings—— A Case Study of CUPL Junior English Majors

Academic writings, whether they are BA dissertations or semester papers, are important carriers of one＇s ideas and findings of their own study and research spheres. In academic papers, the most important part is the choice of topics which determines the macro direction of the paper. Important as it is, it is difficult for the English majors to choose the most appropriate topics with idea-invested thesis statements instead of some factual statements. Therefore, in order to make clear of the status quo and underlying obstacles of topic choosing, this paper is to study on 98 samples from China University of Political Science and Law＇s junior English majors. By observing and analyzing their writings, the paper intends to fred out some possible and accessible methods to improve English majors＇ academic writing and offer some insights for teachers to make some adjustments in accordance with the status quo.
