Even though the process has left some room for country specific terminology, with names of higher education institutions being often used in their original wording, just to avoid lack of clarity, translation of the names in question is often performed for informative and for diploma recognition purposes. The aspect of translation seems not to pose a significant problem with regard to current names of tertiary education as there exist both strict and transparent rules defined by the Polish law with regard to the naming process as well as guidelines issued by the Council of Europe determining the standardization of higher education in the countries of the Bologna Process signatories. It may, however, cause some difficulties, in the case of translation of names used in the past. The main thrust hereof is to present the way the tertiary education system in Poland developed in terms of applied terminology of proper names of higher education institutions. The analyzed issue is mostly supposed to depict restrictions within the naming process and to suggest translation into English that conforms to the currently binding Polish law and that takes into consideration the then binding laws in Poland. The legislative ground subject to the analysis is constituted by Polish acts, resolutions, and official announcements, while the period covered encompasses the time span between WWII and the present moment. The suggested translation is understood as a transfer of culture and presentation of the education system, depicted from a diachronic perspective.展开更多

Language standardization is a task of calibrating language ecological niche. No matter what kind of language in the world, it would experience language standardization issues during its development process. Language standardization and variation is the unity of contradiction. To handle their relationship properly is the basis of maintaining the harmonious language ecology, and also a prerequisite of forming a good language environment. It is pragmatic subject's bounden duty to observe and perform language standardization. Dynamic trend is determined by linguistic ecological environment. Pragmatic energy is determined by the competition among different languages. Linguistic ecological variation determines pragmatic change of pragmatic subject.展开更多

The globalization leaves its tracks in separate spheres of the educational system as well as it impacts all spheres of modern life. The relation between a teacher and a student differs with its peculiarity in the contemporary life. A pupil or a student differs totally in classifying the information gained in his activity. A modem student demonstrates a special attitude to everyday events and gets an independent position. Such reality demands the teacher of the day to have a very high practice; the necessity of contemporary training in the process of training-education can be marked as the appearance of globalization. It is vital to make cultural compensation to different cultural schemas and to coordinate the cultural contradiction. This thesis focuses on the translation methods and strategies in Big Breasts and Wide Hips from the perspective of the cultural schema theory, which exemplifies how cultural default and compensation functions in this novel.展开更多

In addition, in the international scientific bibliography, it is stated that children with Intellectual Disability (ID) can integrate socially at school. However, the social benefits of inclusive education cannot always be reached. Studies have shown that just putting students with ID in a common school is not always adequate, as their social abilities are insufficient and because of that interventions are required. In this paper, we will examine school inclusion of students with ID having in mind that it is connected firstly to the modification of educational techniques using a Targeted, Individual, Structured, Integrated Program for Students with Special Educational Needs (TISIPfSENs). We will focus to the enhancement of their social skills facing school as one of their educational areas inside the community. The results showed that educational interventions that are focused on the enforcement of social skills are a basic priority for the inclusion of students with ID inside the school community.展开更多

All the didactic material and activity in the classroom are guided by this study. Because the narrative text type is one of the first which the student has contact with, it will be the focus of this work. This article aims to present a didactic sequence along the lines of Dolz, Noverraz, and Schneuwly (2004), using the fable and tale genres in order to contribute to the development and appropriation, by the students, of the structural and linguistic characteristics of these genres and the type that makes it up. This sequence of activities is fundamental to work with text production, as it greatly contributes to the writing teaching.展开更多

Results have shown that by doing back-translation practice, the learners will strengthen their awareness of language differences between English and Chinese. Besides, as a special kind of translation, back-translation has its implications on English learning and Chinese-English translation, such as being a recitation method and testing tool.展开更多

The study also examined if computer games stimulate and motivate EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners to increase their vocabulary. Subject of the study were 150 students, drawn from Ali Khoulki Al-Sharari Secondary School for boys in Irbid the First Educational Directorate in the first semester of the academic year 2008/2009. A computerized program "Games" was used to measure students' acquisition of English vocabulary including four domains: conversation, synthesis, recall and preservation, and reading. Findings of the study revealed significant differences in means scores between experimental and control groups students, in favor of experimental group students, due to the instructional method used. Furthermore, students in the experimental group reported positive attitudes towards learning English vocabulary using computer games. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher suggested some recommendations and instructional implications.展开更多

The result showed that (I) the post-study achievement of 38 students was significantly higher than pre-study achievement with a statistical significance of .05; (2) the students "mostly agreed" on implementing social media with the course (μ = 4.40, σ = .37). After considering in each aspect, it was found that the three aspects that reached highest score respectively were overall image of implementing social media in classes (μ= 4.74, σ = .45). Followed by those that reached the same score, which were, "implementing social media allowed students to exchange experience, knowledge, and attitudes between each other more" with (μ = 4.66, σ = .48), "implementing social media allowed students and teachers to exchange experience, knowledge, and attitudes with teachers more" with (μ = 4.66, σ = .48), "allowed students to work with each other or do more self-study" with (μ = 4.66, σ = .48), "allowed students to study by themselves" with (μ = 4.66,σ = .48), and "implementing social media in classes allowed students to submit assignment, and receive suggestions for improvement at all times" with (μ = 4.66, σ = .48). The third was "implementing social media in classes allowed more methods for students to communicate with teachers" with (μ = 4.53, σ = .51); and (3) behaviors of implementing social media with the course showed that (a) in terms of promoting knowledge, social media helped promoting knowledge between friends and between students and teachers in various concepts, which was the part that linked to practicing living together in society with others; (b) in terms of communication, students had a change to participate in more socialization by debating or asking questions via Facebook; (c) in terms of strengthening motivation, students were enthusiastic to learn and used the Facebook group for communication; (d) in terms of adjusting an opened-learning environment, this promoted the behavior that students would study and learn anywhere outside of classrooms, which helped learners to always learn not just in their classes; moreover, this would form the behavior of being able to work anywhere anytime, improve, and adjust their works by having records of the changes as well; and (e) in terms of supporting and promoting two-way communication, students were able to communicate and exchange information more than just in class and they were also encouraged to compete by producing portfolios and present them on Facebook and YouTube.展开更多
