There have been several therapeutic treatments for this social health issue, including diet and exercise therapy, medication and ...Being a great threaten for human health, obesity has become a pandemic chronic disease. There have been several therapeutic treatments for this social health issue, including diet and exercise therapy, medication and surgery, among which the diet is still the most common way. However, none of these therapeutic measures available is ideal, making it necessary to find an effective medical treatment. The endocannabinoid system, which is well known for its contributions in certain mental processes such as relaxation, amelioration of pain and anxiety, and sedation initiation, has been recently reported to play an essential role in regulating appetite and metabolism to maintain energy balance, leading to the belief that endocannabinoid system is closely related to obesity. This new discovery deepens our understanding of obesity, and provides us with a new direction for clinical obesity treatment. Rimonabant is an antagonist for CB1, and has entered the market in some countries. However, although effective as an anti-obesity drug, rimonabant also causes obviously adverse side-effects, thus is being doubted and denied for medical usage.展开更多
Obesity has become a major health challenge for both patients and family physicians.Well-known methods of weight reduction such as diet and exercise are often difficult to comply with due to lifestyle and quality of l...Obesity has become a major health challenge for both patients and family physicians.Well-known methods of weight reduction such as diet and exercise are often difficult to comply with due to lifestyle and quality of life issues.Other methods such as diet pills or surgery have potentially serious side effects and often do not show long-term benefit.In an attempt to find a less invasive and effective modality of treatment,traditional Chinese medicine,particularly acupuncture and auriculotherapy,has become a topic of research in this field.The authors conducted a review of the current evidence regarding the use of auricular and body acupuncture in the treatment of obesity from their beginning to June 2014.Any published trial using randomized assignment to the intervention and control groups,in full text were included.Overall,moderate evidence in favor of acupuncture over exercise in the treatment of obesity was found.However,due to the limitations of the published studies in this field,it is necessary to conduct a large high quality randomized controlled trial in order to determine whether acupuncture should be used as a treatment modality to achieve weight loss in obese individuals.展开更多

This article introduces the basic situation and mechanism of suspended magnetic cupping therapy for weight loss. For pathogenesis of deficiency, phlegm, stagnation and cold in obesity, Shuang Long Xi Zhu （two dragons playing a ball） moxibustion, abdominal Jiu Gong （nine palaces） moxibustion, San Yang Kai Tai （auspicious beginning） moxibustion and Chang Long （long dragon） moxibustion were given respectively.
