After the Kyoto Protocol was implemented,carbon leakage exerts great influences on international trade and economy.Trade creates a mechanism for consumers to shift environmental pollution associated with their consumption to other countries.China has overtaken the U.S.as the world's biggest CO2 emitter since 2006.As China's second largest trade partner,the U.S.has the biggest trade deficit with China which has aroused a lot of disputes between the two parties.But so far the assessments of the trade imbalance of China-U.S.have paid little attention to environmental impacts associated with the trade imbalance.Applied an input-output approach,the article estimates the amount of CO2 embodied in China-U.S.trade during 1997-2007.It was found that through trade with China,the U.S.reduced its CO2 emissions compared with a non-trade scenario.Due to the greater carbon-intensity and relatively less efficient production processes of Chinese industry,China-U.S.trade resulted in more CO2 emissions in China and the world.In the end,the article gives some suggestions:it is equal and sustainable that the international accounting methodologies should be improved,for CO2 emissions responsibility must be designed to account for the dynamic nature of international trade. 展开更多

The focus is on analyzing the effect of flexible airfoils types and blade flexibility on turbine net output power. To this end, five different flexible airfoils (Symmetric and Non-symmetric) are employed. The results show that the use of a thick flexible symmetric airfoil can effectively increase output power compared to that achievable with a conventional rigid blade. Moreover, the use of highly flexible blades, as opposed to less flexible or rigid blades, is not recommended. 展开更多

An explicit formula for the ergodic capacity of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems under correlated frequency selective Rayleigh channels is derived,by simplifying the channel response matrix in frequency domain into the so-called Kronecker model composed of three kinds of correlations,i.e.multipath tap gain correlation and spatial fading correlations at both transmitter and receiver.The derived formula is very simple and convenient for one to estimate the effects of all three kinds of correlations on MIMO-OFDM capacity.If taps are independent,there is a very simple expression for the ergodic capacity.In case of tap correlation,the capacity formula could be further given in an integral expression.The validity of the new formula is verified and the effects of correlations,delay spread as well as the number of subcarriers on the ergodic capacity are evaluated via Monte Carlo simulations. 展开更多

Under global production network,export cannot represent a country's gains from trade,and territory-based gains from trade refer to the remainder of export after deducting the input of intermediate goods and re-export after value-added return.Ownership-based gains from trade refer to the remainder of territory-based gains from trade after further deducting the trade in value added(TVA) realized through the inflow of foreign factors.By creating a multicountry input and output model,this paper calculates the territory-based gains from trade,ownership-based gains from trade,and territory-based gains from trade for foreign countries realized through China's export,as well as valueadded return and territory-based gains from trade for foreign countries realized through China's import.This paper has arrived at the following conclusions:behind China's status as the largest goods exporting country in the world,most of Chinese exports contribute to the gains of foreign countries;value addition for foreign countries realized through China's export and value-added return realized through China's import mostly come from Taiwan region,Japan and South Korea in East Asia;a considerable part of gains from trade for the United States realized through China-US trade is achieved through indirect trade. 展开更多

An Analysis of the Increase of CO2 Emissions in China: Based on an SDA technique

This paper creates an extended import-competitive economy-energy-environmental input/output model and employs a structural decomposition analysis (SDA) approach based on double-layer nested structural formulae to break down China's carbon dioxide emissions growth between 1992 and 2007from three perspectives: the overall economy, by-industry and by industrial sectors. Analysis results indicate that the energy intensity effect remains the biggest factor behind carbon emissions reduction. This paper also .found that between 2002 and 2007, China's carbon emissions growth obviously accelerated compared to the previous period, which indicates a "high carbon" tendency in the new round of industrialization. Therefore, in addition to developing a circular economy and clean production, accelerating the phasing out of backward capacities, and developing new energies, China should further encompass the positive role of energy intensity. 展开更多

The objective was to design adaptive nonlinear output feedback laws such that the closed-loop systems were globally asymptotically stable, while the estimated parameters remained bounded. The proposed systematic strategy combined input-state-scaling with backstepping technique. The adaptive output feedback controller was designed for a general case of uncertain chained system. For the multipath fading on electromagnetic waves of wireless communication in the confined areas,the rectangular tunnel cooperative communication system was established based on the multimode channel model and the channel capacity formula derivation was obtained.On the optimal criterion of the channel capacity,the power allocation methods of both amplifying and forwarding(AF) and decoding and forwarding(DF) cooperative communication systems were proposed in the limitation of the total power to maximize the channel capacity.The mode selection methods of single input single output(SISO) and single input multiple output(SIMO) models in the rectangular tunnel,through which the higher channel capacity can be obtained,were put forward as well.The theoretical analysis and simulation comparison show that,channel capacity of the wireless communication system in the rectangular tunnel can be effectively enhanced through the cooperative technology;channel capacity of the rectangular tunnel under complicated conditions is maximized through the proposed power allocation methods,and the optimal cooperative mode of the channel capacity can be chosen according to the cooperative mode selection methods given in the paper. 展开更多

To improve the control performance of nonlinear ultra-supercritical(USC)thermal power units,an improved min-max fuzzy model predictive tracking control(FMPTC)strategy is proposed.First,a T-S fuzzy model is established to approximate the dynamics of the nonlinear boiler-turbine system.Then,based on an extended fuzzy model containing state variables and output variables,a min-max FMPTC is derived for output regulation while ensuring the closed-loop system stability and the inputs in their given constraints.For greater controller design freedom,the developed controller adopts a new state-and output-based objective function.In addition,the observer estimation error is regarded as a bounded disturbance,ensuring the stability of the entire closed-loop control system.Simulation results on a 1000 MW USC boiler-turbine model illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

In order to overcome the disturbance of noise,this paper presented a method to measure two-phase flow velocity using particle swarm optimization algorithm,nonlinear blind source separation and cross correlation method.Because of the nonlinear relationship between the output signals of capacitance sensors and fluid in pipeline,nonlinear blind source separation is applied.In nonlinear blind source separation,the odd polynomials of higher order are used to fit the nonlinear transformation function,and the mutual information of separation signals is used as the evaluation function.Then the parameters of polynomial and linear separation matrix can be estimated by mutual information of separation signals and particle swarm optimization algorithm,thus the source signals can be separated from the mixed signals.The two-phase flow signals with noise which are obtained from upstream and downstream sensors are respectively processed by nonlinear blind source separation method so that the noise can be effectively removed.Therefore,based on these noise-suppressed signals,the distinct curves of cross correlation function and the transit times are obtained,and then the velocities of two-phase flow can be accurately calculated.Finally,the simulation experimental results are given.The results have proved that this method can meet the measurement requirements of two-phase flow velocity. 展开更多

Modeling method for the current control loop of a grid-connected PWM inverter with the LCL output filter was discussed.Firstly,the current control loop with the LCL inverter-side current as feedback was established.Then,parameters of PI controller were calculated on the basis of an equivalent controlled object.Finally,Norton equivalent circuit for the current control loop of grid-connected system was derived by integrating one control equation,which connected the PWM inverter output voltage and the LCL inverter-side current,with two circuit equations,separately using the LCL inverter-side current and the injected current as loop currents.With the induced Norton equivalent circuit,system-level resonant and unstable issues on real grid-connected system applied in weak distributed power systems can be easily analyzed.The validity of substituting Norton equivalent circuit for grid-connected system is verified by simulation and experiment. 展开更多

This paper proposes a DC-DC converter using variable on-time and variable switching frequency control enhanced constant ripple current control and reduced magnetic components. The proposed converter is realized by making the turn-offtime proportional to the on-time of the converter, according to the input and output voltage, thereby reducing the corresponding current ripple on output voltage in the continuous conduction mode. A Buck DC-DC converter using the proposed control strategy is analyzed in detail, along with some experimental results to show the performance and effectiveness of this converter. 展开更多

This paper presents theoretical expressions that can be used to determine the aerodynamic performance of wind microturbines. A commercially-available three-bladed microturbine was tested at the outlet plane of a wind tunnel. The cross-section dimensions of the wind tunnel jet are 2.5 m (horizontal) x 1.5 m (vertical). The tested microturbine has a diameter of 1.2 m, and it generates a maximum power output of about 300 W. The paper provides the wind tunnel test methodology that was used to determine the mean and fluctuating forces generated by the aforementioned wind microturbine. Both the static and dynamic responses of the turbine were measured, and results from this testing are presented in this paper. These results enable the trends and predictions of the theoretical expressions to be compared with wind tunnel measurements. It is shown that, for this particular microturbine, the behaviours of these test measurements are consistent with the expected theoretical predictions. 展开更多

Due to its inherent safety feature, the modular high temperature gas-cooled reactor(MHTGR) is considered as one of the best candidates for SMR-based nuclear power plants. Since its dynamics presents high nonlinearity and parameter uncertainty, it is necessary to develop adaptive power-level control, which is beneficial to safe, stable, and efficient operation of MHTGR and is easy to be implemented. In this paper, based on the physically-based control design approach, an adaptive outputfeedback power-level control is proposed for MHTGRs. This control can guarantee globally bounded closedloop stability and has a simple form. Numerical simulation results show the correctness of the theoretical analysis and satisfactory regulation performance of this control. 展开更多

Conventionally, the exhaustive search algorithm (ESA) can give the optimal performance; however, it is complexity prohibitive for practical implementation. Aiming at re- ducing the complexity while keeping the achievable sum rate performance, two heuristic algorithms are proposed for the multiuser scheduling problems: the improved genetic algorithm and simplified norm-based greedy algo- rithm. Moreover, we also consider the heterogeneity scenario where a modified grouping-based user selection al- gorithm is given to guarantee the user' s fairness. Specifically, the asymptotic behavior of the norm-based greed- y algorithm is given when each user is equipped with one antenna. In this work, we study an entanglement concentration scheme in a 3-mode optomechanical system. The scheme is based on phonon counting measurements, which can be performed through photon counting of an auxiliary cavity connected to the mechanical resonator. The amount of entanglement between the two cavity output modes is found to increase logarithmically with the number of detected phonons(photons). Such an entanglement concentration scheme is deterministic since, independently of the number of detected phonons(photons), the measurement always leads to an increase in output entanglement. Besides numerical simulations,we provide analytical results and physical insight for the improved entanglement and the concentration efficiency. 展开更多
