The model results show that some household characteristics such as the number of driver licenses household income and home location are significant.Yet the intersection density indicating the street patterns of home location and the dummy near the subway and the bus stop density indicating the transit accessibility of home location are insignificant.The model estimation obtains a good γ2 the goodness of fit of the model and the model validation also shows a good performance in prediction.The marginal effects of all the significant explanatory variables are calculated to quantify the odds change in the household car ownership following a one-unit change in the explanatory variables.展开更多
The War of the Triple Alliance was an international military conflict in South America, fought from 1864 to 1870 between Paraguay and the Triple Alliance of Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. In 1939, according to the pr...The War of the Triple Alliance was an international military conflict in South America, fought from 1864 to 1870 between Paraguay and the Triple Alliance of Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. In 1939, according to the provisions of the Arb6-Cantilo Treaty, it was established that the international boundary between Argentina and Paraguay passed through the deepest channel of the Pilcomayo River. The natural complexity of the river, plus the condition of acting as international border, led to perform this analysis. The main goal was to implement geo-processing techniques to map the evolution in the drainage pattern, linked to natural processes or human activities from 1951 to today. Satellite imagery and historical maps were integrated upon a Geographic Information System (GIS); to interpret the changes occurred in the last 60 years along the Pilcomayo River channel which is approximately 20,000 km^2 located in Argentina and Paraguay. The collected information allowed the authors to evaluate and demonstrate the degree of correspondence between the river variation and the topographic position of the international boundary between Argentina and Paraguay, and also to diagnose what could occur in the near future.展开更多

We used two parameters, marginal outpu...Here, we estimate the rationality of specific agricultural inputs and discuss the sensitivity of integrated agricultural output to various resources input for Chaohu City, China. We used two parameters, marginal output and elastic coefficient, and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method, which has an unambiguous geometric meaning and is simple and convenient, to integrate various output and input. The results indicate that for most of 2001-2009, agricultural inputs rose except that the number of people engaged in agricultural production fell. Although integrated agriculture output increased, the proportion of resources with a negative utilization efficiency was 23.82% from 2001 to 2009. Integrated output was more sensitive to agricultural pesticide, the irrigation ratio and the use of plastic film. Integrated outputs may be increased by moderate decreases in input. This type of agricultural production meets the requirements of resource saving and is a sustainable mode of resource utilization.展开更多
Generalized linear mixed models(GLMMs)have been widely used in contemporary ecology studies.However,determination of the relative importance of collinear predictors(i.e.fixed effects)to response variables is one of th...Generalized linear mixed models(GLMMs)have been widely used in contemporary ecology studies.However,determination of the relative importance of collinear predictors(i.e.fixed effects)to response variables is one of the challenges in GLMMs.Here,we developed a novel R package,glmm.hp,to decompose marginal R2^(2)explained by fixed effects in GLMMs.The algorithm of glmm.hp is based on the recently proposed approach‘average shared variance’i.e.used for multivariate analysis.We explained the principle and demonstrated the use of this package by simulated dataset.The output of glmm.hp shows individual marginal R2^(2)s that can be used to evaluate the relative importance of predictors,which sums up to the overall marginal R2^(2).Overall,we believe the glmm.hp package will be helpful in the interpretation of GLMM outcomes.展开更多
