Typically the file is carved using standard patterns. Many concentrate on carving JPEG files and overlook the important of thumbnail in assisting forensic investigation. However, a new unique pattern is used to detect thumbnail/s and embedded JPEG file. This paper is to introduce a tool call PattrecCarv to recognize thumbnail/s or embedded JPEG files using unique hex patterns (UHP). A tool called PattrecCarv is developed to automatically carve thumbnail/s and embedded JPEG files using DFRWS 2006 and DFRWS 2007 datasets. The tool successfully recovers 11.5% more thumbnails and embedded JPEG files than PredClus.展开更多

We show that solving a parametric piecewise algebraic variety amounts to solve a finite number of parametric polynomial systems c...The piecewise algebraic variety is the set of all common zeros of multivariate splines. We show that solving a parametric piecewise algebraic variety amounts to solve a finite number of parametric polynomial systems containing strict inequalities. With the regular decomposition of semi-algebraic systems and the partial cylindrical algebraic decomposition method, we give a method to compute the supremum of the number of torsion-free real zeros of a given zero-dimensional parametric piecewise algebraic variety, and to get distributions of the number of real zeros in every n-dimensional cell when the number reaches the supremum. This method also produces corresponding necessary and sufficient conditions for reaching the supremum and its distributions. We also present an algorithm to produce a necessary and sufficient condition for a given zero-dimensional parametric piecewise algebraic variety to have a given number of distinct torsion-free real zeros in every n-cell in the n-complex.展开更多
We consider a device which consists of a floating structure over a cylindrical plate placed at a finite height from the impermeable ocean floor.This paper developes the interaction of linear water waves with such a de...We consider a device which consists of a floating structure over a cylindrical plate placed at a finite height from the impermeable ocean floor.This paper developes the interaction of linear water waves with such a device.The whole fluid domain is divided into a number of sub-domains and boundary value problems are formulated for each identified sub-domain.The channel multipoles,separation of variables and matched eigenfunction expansion methods allow us to solve boundary value problems for the diffracted velocity potentials in each sub-domain.We investigate the wave forces exerted on the proposed device.Consequently,the effects of the various parameters,e.g.,drafts,radii,the gap between the cylinders and mainly channel width of the device on the wave forces exerted by the cylinders are presented graphically.We observe a small oscillation nature near the peak value of the exciting force for the particular value of channel width w=2.4m.The peak value of the exciting forces occurs near the wavenumber kr 1=1.0 for different width of the channel walls.The obtained results are compared with some available results,and it shows a good agreement between the obtained and available results.展开更多
