The compression deformation experimental data of commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) were mapped to be a T vs lg diagram in which data fall into three distinct regions, i.e., three-stage work hardening, two-stage work hardening and flow softening, which can be separated by border lines at 17.5 and 15.4 for lg Z, where Z represents the Zener-Hollomon parameter. The deformation twin is found to have higher Z-value corresponding to the work hardening region. The differences in microstructures and mechanical properties for two kinds of billets indicate that forged billet consists of deformation twins and some twin intersections, and many twins cross the grain boundaries. However, nearly no twins can be seen in the microstructure of billet formed by rolling under optical microscope (OM), but there are equiaxed and platelike grains. The results reveal that high strength and low ductility are obtained in all semi-solid forged alloys. Tensile properties decrease as the semi-solid forging temperature increases, and cleavage fractures are observed after semi-solid forging at 1 050 °C. The variations in tensile properties are attributed to the coarse microstructures obtained in the semi-solid alloys. It is found that the elevated semi-solid temperatures lead to more liquid precipitates along the prior grain boundaries, which increases the peritectic precipitation and formation of Ti2Cu precipitation zones during re-solidification. Recrystallization heat treatment leads to fine microstructure of semi-solid forged alloys, resulting in improvement of tensile properties.展开更多

With applying CCDF, tensile strength, elongation and hardness increase, while coarse Mg2Si particles break into smaller pieces and exhibit more uniform distribution. Mg-1.5%Si alloy exhibits a combination of improved strength and elongation after 5 passes of CCDF processing. The tensile strength is about 142 MPa and elongation is about 8%. The improvement in mechanical properties was further characterized by dry sliding wear testing. The results show that wear resistance improves with silicon content and CCDF process passes, particularly the first pass. The wear resistance increases by about 38% for Mg-3.3%Si after 5 passes of CCDF compared with pure Mg. The improvement of wear is related to microstructure refinement and homogenization based on the Archard equation and friction effect.展开更多

To turbine disc, bore and rim are used in high temperature-low stress condition and low temperature-high stress condition, and dual-microstructure is introduced. Coarse-grained microstructure is suit for rim region and fine-grained is no doubt most suitable for bore region. But fine-grained ingot can not make by PM technique, so that gradient heat treatment can not be developed to coarsen the grain of rim region. Under the confine of PM technique, several treatment processir, g should be taken place to refine the coarse grains of PM alloy. Multiple forging with large accumulate deformation was carried cat on PM FGH4096 superalloy, and fine grains of 3.5 μm were obtained by this treatment processing. Mechanical properties testing were ake carried out on both fine-grained and other statuses alloys, Microstrucmre evolution was observed by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. As a result of repeated dynamic recrystallizafion, coarse grains could be completely refined into fine grains. And the increase of strength was mainly attributed to refinement effect and improvement of defects such as previous particle boundaries. Successful development of fine-grained treatment processing will promote the research of dual-microstructure turbine disc.展开更多

To obtain the changes of mechanical property of barrel processed by cold radial forging, the tangential mechanical properties of the barrel blank and the forged barrel are measured with a de- signed test based on the plastic deformation analysis for a barrel and by applying internal pressure, and their axial mechanical properties are measured by the tensile test. The changes of mechanical property of barrel processed by cold radial forging are obtained by comparing the mechanical proper- ties of the barrel blank and the forged barrel. The tangential and axial flow stresses of the barrel blank and the forged barrel are also presented.展开更多

The results revealed that the forging ratio had a significant effect on the precipitation of the alloy. Fewer plate-shaped Ti2Cu tended to precipitate on grain boundaries with higher forging ratios, and finally the plate-shaped Ti2Cu formed precipitate-free zones along grain boundaries with a forging ratio of 75%. The precipitation on grain boundaries was found to be controlled by a peritectic reaction. Large forging ratios accelerated the extrusion of liquid and resulted in less liquid along the prior grain boundaries, which reduced the peritectic precipitation in this region and formed precipitate-free zones during re-solidification. In addition, increasing the forging ratio could accelerate dynamic recrystallization, which is favorable for improving the semisolid formability. The tensile ductility increased with increasing forging ratio, and a mixed fracture mode, involving both cleavage and dimple fracture, was observed after forging with a forging ratio of 75%, which along grain boundaries during semisolid processing. is attributed to the presence of precipitate-free zones formed展开更多

In this process, the billet was preforged at solid solution temperature and then preaged, followed by warm forging at 200 ℃. The flow behavior of the preaged samples during compression and the mechanical properties of the formed samples were investigated by hot compression tests. The differences in the precipitated phases of the samples with different processing parameters were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The best comprehensive performance was obtained after preaging at 120 ℃ for 4 h and holding at 200 ℃ for 10 min, and the Vickers hardness was HV 128, which was higher than that of the traditional process. Precipitation strengthening and dislocation strengthening were improved when the samples were formed at 200 ℃. This forging process shows the advantages of short time consumption and low energy consumption, which can effectively improve the production efficiency while ensuring the strength after forming.展开更多

The results showed that the mechanical properties of the forgings made by the new process are far higher than that in the standard of GB223 84, and also higher than that in the standard of EL/53MI 94; moreover, the mechanical properties are almost the same in each direction, and anisotropies are very small. The grains and 2nd phases were analyzed by using TEM and SEM, the results indicate that very fine grains (3~6 μm)appear in an approximately isometric way, and a large number of 2nd submicrophases(0.05~0.15 μm) disappear in no apparently preferred orientation distribution because the new process involves multidirectional heavy plastic deformation (λ=12), solution(500 ℃/400 min) and ageing(165 ℃/10 h) heat treatments for a long time at high temperatures. These refined grains, 2nd submicrophases and their almost homogeneous distribution can make it possible for the forgings to display high mechanical properties.展开更多

Tensile tests and Vickers hardness test indicate that yield strength, tensile strength and microhardness of the samples after forging are higher than those after rolling.

文摘Tensile properties of a new α+Ti2Cu alloy after solid forging at 950 °C and semi-solid forging at 1 000 °C and 1 050 °C were investigated over the temperature range of 20-600 °C. Recrystallization heat treatment leads to fine microstructure of semi-solid forged alloys, resulting in improvement of tensile properties.

文摘Mg-xSi (x=0, 1.5, 3.3) alloys were fabricated and subjected to cyclic closed-die forging (CCDF), a new severe plastic deformation process, at 450 ℃ for 1, 3, and 5 passes. The improvement of wear is related to microstructure refinement and homogenization based on the Archard equation and friction effect.

文摘The effects of Nd addition on the mechanical properties and plastic deformability of AZ71 Mg alloys were investigated.0.5%-2.0%(mass fraction) Nd was added to AZ71 Mg alloys. The grain size and the amount of brittle β-Mg17Al12 phase reduce with increasing the Nd addition, while nanosized AlxNdy precipitates form.In combination with 32% rotary forging and subsequent annealing, the grain size of Nd-added AZ71 Mg alloys reduces greatly from over 350 μm to below 30 μm.Both tensile strength and ductility increase with the Nd addition up to 1.0%.The addition of Nd beyond 1.0% leads to the aggregations of rod-shaped Al11Nd3 and blocky Al2 Nd precipitates, thereby deteriorating both strength and ductility. The 1.0% Nd-added AZ71 Mg alloy shows tensile strength up to 253 MPa and elongation of 10.7%.It is concluded that adding 1.0% Nd to AZ71 Mg alloy yields the optimum toughness, whether under as-cast or rotary forging and annealing conditions.

文摘To guide the illuminating design to improve the on-state performances of gallium arsenide(GaAs)photoconductive semiconductor switch(PCSS),the effect of spot size on the operation mode of GaAsPCSS based on a semi-insulating wafer with a thickness of 1 mm,triggered by a 1064-nm extrinsic laser beam with the rectangular spot, has been investigated experimentally. It is found that the variation of the spot size in length and width can act on the different parts of the output waveform integrating the characteristics of the linear and nonlinear modes, and then significantly boosts the PCSS toward different operation modes. On this basis,a two-channel model containing the active and passive parts is introduced to interpret the relevant influencing mechanisms. Results indicate that the increased spot length can peak the amplitude of static domains in the active part to enhance the development of the nonlinear switching, while the extended spot width can change the distribution of photogenerated carriers on both parts to facilitate the linear switching and weaken the nonlinear switching, which have been proved by comparing the domain evolutions under different spot sizes.
文摘FGH4096 is an important damage-tolerance-type powder metallurgy (PM) superalloy, which is also the optimized turbine material for high performance aero-engine. Successful development of fine-grained treatment processing will promote the research of dual-microstructure turbine disc.
文摘The cold radial forging process usually introduces some changes of the material, such as the increased strength, the decreased plasticity and the introduction of anisotropic mechanical prop- erty. The tangential and axial flow stresses of the barrel blank and the forged barrel are also presented.

文摘The present work is focused on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti14 alloy with different semisolid deformation ratios during forging tests. The tensile ductility increased with increasing forging ratio, and a mixed fracture mode, involving both cleavage and dimple fracture, was observed after forging with a forging ratio of 75%, which along grain boundaries during semisolid processing. is attributed to the presence of precipitate-free zones formed

文摘Large complex 7A85 aluminum wing-body joint was forged employing isothermal forging process and its mechanical properties were studied. The tensile strength after forging is up to 587.5 MPa in longitudinal direction,15% higher than that using free forging. Moreover, the tensile strength of the forging is almost the same in three directions.Isothermal forging also performs well on overall fracture toughness, with a maximum value of 39.8 MPa·m1/2,and that of short transverse direction all reaches 36 MPa·m1/2 and above, with a maximum relative error of only 3.6%.The results indicate that the isothermal forging leads to better performance as well as higher uniformity in mechanical properties.

文摘To improve the mechanical properties of Ti6Al4V alloy prepared by selective laser melting(SLM)process, the precision forging was conducted at950°C and different strains and strain rates. The microstructure evolution of as-built samples and forged samples in both horizontal and vertical sections was visualized and analyzed by optical microscope and X-ray diffraction. The microstructure was improved by the precision forging and subsequent water quenching. The porosity in each section was accounted. It can be seen that high strain rate and large deformation result in low porosity, consequently contributing to a better fatigue performance. The micro-hardness was lowered after precision forging and water quenching, while the difference of microhardness between the horizontal and vertical sections became smaller, which illustrated that this process can improve the anisotropy of structural components fabricated by SLM.

文摘A novel forging process of 6082 aluminum alloy is proposed, which can save time and reduce energy consumption while ensuring mechanical properties. This forging process shows the advantages of short time consumption and low energy consumption, which can effectively improve the production efficiency while ensuring the strength after forming.

文摘AZ61Mg alloy was multi directionally forged(MDFed) during decreasing temperature condition from 643 K to 483 K at a true strain rate of 3×10-3 s-1 up to cumulative strain of∑△ε=4.0 at maximum.A pass strain of△ε=0.8 was employed. While average grain size decreased gradually with increasing cumulative strain, the evolution of fine-grained structure strongly depended on the MDF temperature.Under the condition where the temperature was higher than the most adequate one, grain coarsening partially took place during MDF.In contrast,at lower temperature, inhomogeneous microstructure composed of the initial coarse and newly appeared fine grains was evolved. After straining over∑△ε=3.2(i.e.,over 4 passes of MDF) ,equiaxed ultrafine grains(UFGs) having average size of about and lower than 1μm were uniformly evolved. While the MDFed alloy to∑△ε=4.0 possessed relatively high hardness of HV 99,and it accepted further about 20%cold rolling almost without cracking.Because of the superior formability of the UFGed AZ61Mg alloy, the hardness was further easily raised to HV 120 by following cold rolling.
文摘The triangular 2014 aluminium alloy forgings were made by a new process and the traditional process. These refined grains, 2nd submicrophases and their almost homogeneous distribution can make it possible for the forgings to display high mechanical properties.
