[Method] With the western re- gion of Hainan as the study area, the distribution characteristics of Pb in the soil- rice system were analyzed comprehensively by combining field survey and indoor analysis under the assistance of geostatistical and spatial analysis techniques. [Result] The content of Pb in soil of western Ha/nan was 43.6 mg/kg. There were dif- ferences in Pb content among the soils developed from different parent materials. The distribution of Pb in the study area was affected by the distribution of parent material, and it was not closely related to soil properties. The content of Pb in white rice was lower than that in straw, and the mean contents were 0.14 and 3.48 mg/kg, respectively. The content of Pb in white rice was not closely related to soil properties. [Conclusion] The content of Pb in the soil of western Hainan Island was low in overall, and the Pb content in white rice was lower than the limit of National Food Safety Standard of Pb Content for Rice. In short, the ecological risk of Pb pollution in the study area was low.展开更多

It was evaluated as the 2nd class of fine quality rice variety in Hunan Province in 2012. It is characteristic of high-yielding ability, fine grain quality, good plant type, good lodging resistance and fertilizer tolerance, strong tillering ability and good discoloring at the late growth stage. Taoyou Xiangzhan was registered for release to commercial production by Hunan Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in June, 2015.展开更多

Several challenges has been traced it production. The study intend to investigate if other rice producing nations are faced with similar challenges and at what magnitude and more importantly, what can be learn to improve the rice yield in Nigeria. Based on 2013/2014 survey, a total sample of 400 famers were randomly interviewed;164 from Niger State of Nigeria and 236 from Hainan province of China. The study collate the perception of farmers to rice production constraints categorized into biotic, abiotic and socioeconomics. Biplot analysis was employed to examine multivariate pattern of their perceptions towards production constraints. The multivariate technique simultaneously displaying different yield levels and factor constraints in data matrix providing the inter-unit distances, variance and correlations of variables. According to the study, Niger state farmers identified socioeconomic constraint as the major factors to production and attributed it to lack of or insufficient investment while the Hainan farmers majorly identified abiotic constraints. The study also indicated that great potential remain to further improve rice yield in both regions especially in Nigeria given the appropriate investment on essential inputs. This study is of great use to extension officers more so, given the investment in Africa, policy makers take advantage of the bilateral and multilateral relationship to invest ease transfer of agricultural information and technologies between or among partners.展开更多

The purpose of the workshop was to discuss the strategy for acquiring the bumper harvest of rice in 1996 and the goal of rice production-during the "Ninth Five-year Plant". According to the project set up by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture, the rice yield in China has to reach 195 billion kg in 2000 AC. This means that at least the rice yield has to be increased by 2.5 billion kg every year progressively during 1996—2000. The participants put forward several rationalization proposals such as recovering the cultivated area of early rice, developing the cultivation of ratooning rice and展开更多
