Application of Patient Simulators Combined with Internet plus Scenario Simulation Teaching Models on Intravenous Infusion Nursing Education in China

Objective: To explore the effectiveness of applying patient simulators combined with Internet Plus scenario simulation teaching models on intravenous (IV) infusion nursing education, and to provide scientific evidence for the implementation of advanced teaching models in future nursing education. Methods: Enrolled 60 nurses who took the IV infusion therapy training program in our hospital from January 2022 to December 2023 for research. 30 nurses who were trained in traditional teaching models from January to December 2022 were selected as the control group, and 30 nurses who were trained with simulation-based teaching models with methods including simulated patients, internet, online meetings which can be replayed and scenario simulation, etc. from January to December 2023 were selected as the experimental group. Evaluated the learning outcomes based on the Competency Inventory for Nursing Students (CINS), Problem-Solving Inventory (PSI), comprehensive learning ability, scientific research ability, and proficiency in the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of IV infusion therapy. Nursing quality, the incidence of IV infusion therapy complications and nurse satisfaction with different teaching models were also measured. Results: The scientific research ability, PSI scores, CINS scores, and comprehensive learning ability of the experimental group were better than those of the control group (P 0.05), and their assessment results of practical skills, nursing quality of IV infusion therapy during training, and satisfaction with teaching models were all better than those of the control group with statistical significance (P < 0.05). The incidence of IV infusion therapy complications in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group, indicating statistical significance (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Teaching models based on patient simulators combined with Internet Plus scenario simulation enable nursing students to learn more directly and practice at any time and in any place, and can improve their proficiency in IV infusion theoretical knowledge and skills (e.g. PICC catheterization), core competencies, problem-solving ability, comprehensive learning ability, scientific research ability and the ability to deal with complicated cases. Also, it helps provide high-quality nursing education, improve the nursing quality of IV therapy, reduce the incidence of related complications, and ensure the safety of patients with IV therapy.

Research on the Intervention of Internet+ Health Education Model on Hemodialysis Patients with Psychological Distress

Objective:To observe the status quo of patients’psychological distress,and to explore the effect of Internet+health education model(IHEM)on patients who experienced psychological distress during their first hemodialysis treatment,with the goal of reducing their psychological distress and improving their quality of life.Methods:IHEM was conducted on 120 first-time hemodialysis patients for 3 months while a distress thermometer and a list of questionnaires were used to screen patients and provide corresponding psychological intervention.The incidence rate of psychological distress was analyzed statistically to explore the difference in psychological distress at various periods.Results:The incidence rate(score≥4)of psychological distress in first-time hemodialysis patients was 46.67%,and their distress was mainly rooted in physical,emotional,practical problems(economy,time,and energy),etc.Through IHEM,the psychological distress scores of the patients decreased to 3.29±1.02 at one month after their discharge,and the incidence rate was 32.14%;the psychological distress scores of the patients were 2.29±1.02 at 3 months after their discharge,and the incidence rate was 21.14%.The difference before and after the intervention was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:A psychological distress thermometer can timely detect the degree and causes of psychological distress among first-time hemodialysis patients,and the use of IHEM may significantly alleviate the psychological distress among hemodialysis patients.

Incorporating Lifelong Education Elements into Teacher Preparation

This paper is committed to advocating the integration of the concept of lifelong education into teacher preparation. It starts with the exploration of the nature of education and teacher preparation, which is followed by an elaboration on some abilities and competences that lifelong education demands of teachers and teacher trainers. Afterwards, following the discussion of some guiding principles regarding educational practices, a brief outline of teacher preparation components allied to methodological proposals to accommodate the principles is presented.

NETLAB-An Internet based laboratory for electrical engineering education

This article describes an Internet based laboratory (NETLAB) developed at Zhejiang University for electrical engi- neering education. A key feature of the project is the use of real experimental systems rather than simulation or virtual reality. NELTAB provides remote access to a wide variety of experiments, including not only basic electrical and electronic experiments but also many innovative control experiments. Students can effectively use the laboratory at any time and from anywhere. NETLAB has been in operation since July 2003.

Patient Education Level and Utilization of Internet Resources by Patients in Orthopedic Hip and Knee Consultations

Introduction: Internet has become an increasingly popular source of reference for patients to learn about their medical problems. It is easily accessible, and a large number of uncensored information is available online written from various sources and perspectives. However, the role of internet and its impact on patient’s care and understanding of the disease remains unclear. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role and effect of internet use for patients seeking consultation for hip and knee arthritis. More specifically, the relationship between patient’s education level, internet use, motives for doing background readings, perception of internet information, and reactions to the available information will be studied. Method: Patients seeking orthopaedic consultation for knee or hip arthritis at the Toronto Western Hospital were identified and invited to fill out a questionnaire on their first visit. The questionnaire was designed to assess the patients’ pre-consultation reading habits, their use of internet, and their reaction to what they have read on the internet. The questionnaire also included questions about the respondent’s background.Results: In comparing patients holding college/university degree (CU) with patients having no college/university education (NoCU), the CU group were associated with increased internet use (CU vs. NoCU: 71.0% vs. 48.3%;p 0.01) and background reading (CU vs. NoCU: 82.2% vs. 17.8%;p 0.001) prior to consultation;fewer incidence of anxiety following internet use (CU vs. NoCU: 29.9% vs. 53.6%;p 0.05);and higher rates of decisions influenced by internet use (CU vs. NoCU: 20.8% vs. 3.6%, p 0.05). Internet users demonstrated a higher confidence in gathering and understanding medical information (Internet users vs. non-internet users: 6.59 ± 2.05 vs. 5.03 ± 2.78;p 0.001) and rated the accuracy of information on internet at 7.18 ± 2.01 (max = 10). Conclusion: Internet use can influence patient’s treatment decision, anxiety level, and understanding of their disease. Caregivers must recognize the growing trend of internet use and should counsel and educate their patients appropriately based on what they have read to help them accurately appreciate the nature of their disease.

Preliminary Investigation of the Interest Education of Retired College Teachers under Lifelong Education

China has a large base of aging population, and its speed entering the aging society and the growth rate are higher than the average level of the world;however, China's awareness and actions against the population aging are relatively backward. Aging education is an important part of lifelong education;more importantly, it is an important manifestation of education to deal with the aging society. The interest education of retired college teachers is an important component of the aging education and lifelong education;laying a solid foundation for the interest education of retired college teachers would make great contributions to China's aging education. Helping the retired college teachers to realize second advancement and promotion of their enterprises, as well as realizing self-values via the guiding method of interest education is an essential way under the scientific outlook on development. The realization of the interest education of retired college teachers lies in three steps;i.e. intensifying college teachers' acknowledgement of the interest education, building and perfecting the interest education institutions for the college teachers, as well as conducting the interest education of the retired college teachers.

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) Implication for Education

This paper illustrates the development of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and its implication for education. IPTV is a new type of educational technology that provides digital content (text, graphic, audio and video) which users watch as television broadcasting on the Internet. With the capabilities of IPTV that could be used for educational purpose. Therefore, the IPTV project’s (Suan Dusit Internet Broadcasting: SDIB) aim has been to develop into a platform that increase educational opportunities that support distant education. The IPTV system was designed to broadcast in four channels (kids, video on demand, variety and radio). More than seven hundred program are being transmitted both trough live and video on demand streams via computer, set top boxes and mobile devices. The IPTV system has been implemented and used in 80 pilot schools. The data of an evaluation of the IPTV system was collected from questionnaires and interviews. The results indicated that IPTV users were highly satisfied with the contents, set top boxes, LCD television, and overall IPTV systems.

Human Rights and Social Justice through Open Educational Resources and Lifelong Learning

A landmark in the realization of UNESCO’s Sustainability Goals,Education for All(SDG4),was passed when the organization’s Recommendation of Open Educational Resources(OER)was uniformly adopted in 2019.Now it is time to transfer from the consciousness of OER to their mainstream realization at all levels,micro,meso,and macro,including all stakeholders,such as governments,institutions,academics,teachers,administrators,librarians,students,learners,and the civil service.The OER Recommendation includes five areas:building capacity and utilizing OER;developing supportive policies;ensuring effectiveness;promoting the creation of sustainable OER models;promoting and facilitating international collaboration;monitoring and evaluation.OER are valued as a catalyst for innovation and the achievement of UNESCO’s SDG 4,education for all,lifelong learning,social justice,and human rights.The OER Recommendation will be a catalyst for the realization of several other SDGs.Because access to quality OER concerns human rights and social justice,this Recommendation is vital.In 2020,the effects of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic clearly demonstrated the importance of opening up education and the access to internationally recognized,qualified learning resources.This article describes and discusses how the promise of resilient,sustainable quality open education can be fulfilled in the new normal and the next normal.

Research on Educational Development from the Perspective of “Internet +”

Evaluation of blended internet and face-to-face continuous medical education for cupping providers in Saudi Arabia

Background:In regulating cupping therapy in Saudi Arabia,there was a need to develop a system for continuous medical and professional development for cupping practitioners.The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of blended-internet continuing-medical-education(CME)on knowledge,knowledge retention,and intellectual skills in cupping providers compared with conventional,face-to-face CME.Methods:Participants were recruited from a list of registered cupping providers(physicians,nurses,and physiotherapists trained and licensed to practice cupping therapy)for a randomized,open,controlled trial.After providing informed consent,participants were allocated into three groups(classes).Classes were randomized to(1)blended-internet CME(n=31);(2)conventional,face-to-face CME(n=31);and(3)control group receiving no intervention(n=32).Results:Posttest knowledge scores were increased to a greater extent by blended-internet CME training compared to conventional CME(P=0.002)or no training(P<0.001).Similarly,knowledge retention was significantly higher in the blended-internet CME group compared to the conventional CME group(P=0.011).Posttest skills scores immediately after the course were significantly higher in the blended-internet CME group compared to the conventional CME group(mean difference:1.408,95%confidence interval:0.728–2.088,P<0.001).Conclusion:Although the current study aimed to determine if blended-internet CME is as effective as conventional,face-to-face CME,the results showed that cupping providers who participated in blended-internet CME had significantly higher scores for posttest knowledge,knowledge retention,and posttest intellectual skills.

Study on the College Politics Education Strategies and Methods in the Internet Plus Mode

The flourishing development of Internet brings profound and lasting influences on the young students’growth.We use the complex network to analyze the characteristics of the information dissemination on Internet.We take the new requires for the educators,which occurred because of the students’pluralities,possibilities,playfulness and participation under the influence of Internet technology.We use the Markov chain theory to describe the transfer relationship among the four states including trust,agreement,participation,development of the college politics education patterns in the Internet Plus mode.In addition,we use hierarchical structure to calculate and offer suggestions for the distribution of the educators’work.We suggest five strategies including the conversational cooperation strategy,the service driven strategy,the O2O marketing strategy,the game participation strategy and the digital operation strategy.Then we perform the AHP method to find the best strategy.

Assessment of Undergraduate Students in Use of Hypermedia Education on Peripheral Venous Punch

This is a qualitative study that aims to describe the opinion of nursing students on the use of an educational hypermedia on Peripheral Venipuncture. We interviewed 16 nursing students of a private university on second semester of 2014. The interviews allowed the identification of units of meaning and categorization by content analysis and led to four categories: influence of hypermedia on learning, educational technology as support to teaching classroom, contribution of hypermedia for professional practice and access difficulties. Hypermedia showed positive results as most scholars reported that the material helped in learning and generated autonomy and interactivity in the moment of studying. However some reported difficulties in access hypermedia related mainly to the server used. So hypermedia proved to be a valuable tool to use, since it favored the learning and aroused the interest and curiosity of students.
