From Research on TCM Images to Historiography of TCM Images——Comments on History of Chinese Image Culture:Medical Image Volume

1 Introduction.Chinese medicine has a long and rich history,dating back to the classics of the Qin and Han dynasties and extending to the integration of Chinese and Western medicine in the modern era.The vast amount of literature and scholarly works in this field makes it essential to thoroughly study the history of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in order to understand its development path throughout the ages and boost innovation based on tradition.This is why the sages emphasized the importance of“classifying the works into different schools and tracing back to their origins”(辨章学术,考镜源流).

Reconstruction of Knowledge and Medical Images in the Convergence of Chinese and Western Medicine:Taking “Sweet Meat” as an Example

The pancreas is neither part of the five Zang organs(五脏) nor the six Fu organs(六腑).Thus,it has received little attention in Chinese medical literature.In the late 19th century,medical missionaries in China started translating and introducing anatomical and physiological knowledge about the pancreas.As for the word pancreas,an early and influential translation was “sweet meat”(甜肉),proposed by Benjamin Hobson(合信).The translation “sweet meat” is not faithful to the original meaning of “pancreas”,but is a term coined by Hobson based on his personal habits,and the word “sweet” appeared by chance.However,in the decades since the term “sweet meat” became popular,Chinese medicine practitioners,such as Tang Zonghai(唐宗海),reinterpreted it by drawing new medical illustrations for “sweet meat” and giving new connotations to the word “sweet”.This discussion and interpretation of “sweet meat” in modern China,particularly among Chinese medicine professionals,is not only a dissemination and interpretation of the knowledge of “pancreas”,but also a construction of knowledge around the term “sweet meat”.

Historical Development in Soil Micromorphological Imaging

The book ＂micropedolog＂ by Kubieana and a large number of publications has induced many people to practice soil micromorphology. Quantification of the soil fabric and its components was a major challenge. The use of the image analyses in soil science was a breakthrough. Attempts to make soil thin sections go back to the beginning of the 2oth century. Microscopic techniques and recently high resolution electron microscope and use of computer assisted imaging techniques enabled the in vitro study of soils in three dimensional levels. It is now possible to store and process massive amounts of data. Micro- morphological concepts and techniques are applied in paleopedological, ecological, and archaeological studies. The aim of this work was to examine soil micromorphological imaging in historical perspective.

Iterative static modeling of channelized reservoirs using history-matched facies probability data and rejection of training image

Most inverse reservoir modeling techniques require many forward simulations, and the posterior models cannot preserve geological features of prior models. This study proposes an iterative static modeling approach that utilizes dynamic data for rejecting an unsuitable training image(TI) among a set of TI candidates and for synthesizing history-matched pseudo-soft data. The proposed method is applied to two cases of channelized reservoirs, which have uncertainty in channel geometry such as direction, amplitude, and width. Distance-based clustering is applied to the initial models in total to select the qualified models efficiently. The mean of the qualified models is employed as a history-matched facies probability map in the next iteration of static models. Also, the most plausible TI is determined among TI candidates by rejecting other TIs during the iteration. The posterior models of the proposed method outperform updated models of ensemble Kalman filter(EnKF) and ensemble smoother(ES) because they describe the true facies connectivity with bimodal distribution and predict oil and water production with a reasonable range of uncertainty. In terms of simulation time, it requires 30 times of forward simulation in history matching, while the EnKF and ES need 9000 times and 200 times, respectively.

Video object's behavior analyzing based on motion history image and hidden markov model

A novel method was proposed, which extracted video object＇ s track and analyzed video object＇ s be- havior. Firstly, this method tracked the video object based on motion history image, and obtained the co- ordinate-based track sequence and orientation-based track sequence of the video object. Then the pro- posed hidden markov model （HMM） based algorithm was used to analyze the behavior of video object with the track sequence as input. Experimental results on traffic object show that this method can achieve the statistics of a mass of traffic objects＇ behavior efficiently, can acquire the reasonable velocity behavior curve of traffic object, and can recognize traffic object＇ s various behaviors accurately. It provides a base for further research on video object behavior.

精确主义艺术中的美国身份及其建构策略,1920-1950

精确主义是成长、发展于两次世界大战期间的美国本土现代艺术运动,其流行时段与美国的政治与经济话语权在全球的扩张过程几乎重合,在视觉语言的表达与意义系统的建构层面,与美国身份的塑造之间存在广泛与内在的相关性,体现出鲜明的国家与时代特色。本文在社会艺术史视角的启发下,侧重于立足美国20世纪上半叶方兴未艾的城市化与工业化进程的横截面,分别从美国本土的都会经验和大众文化、工业化大生产的商业伦理及前现代与现代之间张力关系的几个方面深入,对精确主义视觉艺术在这一过程中构建出的视觉语法进行分析,在空间向度与历史向度内考察这一艺术运动与时代精神的深度融合。可以说,精确主义的视觉机制与图像修辞形成了一套意义完备的视觉意识形态(visual ideology)[1],它不但在很大程度上将美国的工业化与现代化“进行时”和乡土主义与清教徒主义的“过去时”进行了跨越时空的、视觉形式与图像意识形态的重构,也在现实层面上缓解了20世纪上半叶以来美国本土知识分子的民族与文化认同危机,因而在国家形象的整体建构中发挥着不可替代的效用。

Four decades are but the blink of an eye in human history,but for the various ethnic groups in China,the last 40 years have seen immense changes.Skyscrapers rose out of the once deserted riverbanks,and the monotonous skyline began to be decorated with streaks and streams of glowing neon in the night.Ethnic Image Records uses slices of life to reinvigorate the memory,and assemble village stories into history,thus recording a colorful history of reform and opening-up.

The Moving Image 16, no. 1—Special Issue： Early Cinema and the Archives

This paper would investigate the Moving Image Archive at the Cinema Museum in Tehran to highlight the importance of new media in Iran after the 1930s and the changes that were brought about by the birth of cinema in the existing geopolitical conditions. It would look very closely at the first silent film made in Iran titled Haji Agha, the Cinema Actor （1933） by Ovanes Ohanian. While reflecting on the socio-political relation of the film to its era, this paper would also bring to attention the process of filmmaking and screening in 1930s Iran--the production and restoration of footage, posters and publicity for the film, and the screening venue. The cinema in question used to be called TamashaKhaneh when it was simply a projection room in Tehran where people would keenly take their seats to view the same film over and over again in some cases. The author would investigate the advent of cinema as a foreign concept in Iranian life and try to reflect upon the way in which it has been gradually adopted as a national treasure over the years. Haji Agha, the Cinema Actor is one of the most important reflections of the social transition that has occurred in Iranian history. Here, through the hundred-minute black and white footage, Ohanian depicts the tense political climate following the coup of Mossadegh, as well as the ban on traditional clothing during the last monarchy of Iran; at the same time, the film represents tradition and modernity as two supposedly opposite stances that, in fact, complemented each other in this era. The title combines Haji Agha, a religious man who has visited mecca, with the English words the Cinema Actor, to further express the complementary relation between old and new. Ohanian very professionally depicts the role of family as a core part of the religious boundaries for men and women that unfold throughout the film due to their encounter with cinema and filmmaking. He uses issues like sex and taboo to push the boundaries and map a certain cultural modernity within Iranian society.

Images are the key for us to sort out modern British history and study the development of early industrial civilization.This paper takes the most classic representative works of those immortal artists in the long river of British art to create a section of immortal history,and review the historical fragments of modern Britain from the painting brush of art masters,and intuitively feel the historical customs,dress etiquette and natural scenery of Britain at that time.

On Chinese Image of American Literature in the 20^(th) Century

Due to the influence and control of many factors such as geographical location and historical conditions,many of the 20thCentury American literature works portray distorted Chinese image different from reality. In American literature,China doesn't exist as a real country with a geographical location,but it exists in a virtual space in the world composed of cultural imagination. Literature is the reflected thought that can accommodate numerous social fields,and American literature can mostly reflect the overall cognition of different fields for Chinese image. This paper analyzes the characterization and cognition of Chinese image in the20thCentury American literature works,understanding the history and features of Chinese image in the 20thCentury American literature works,in order to obtain the enlightenment of how to better establish Chinese image.

基于改进YOLOv8的电缆复合绝缘结构内部缺陷太赫兹成像识别方法

电缆及其附件在制造和运行过程中容易产生内部缺陷,严重危害供电系统的安全。针对传统电缆复合绝缘结构内部缺陷检测方法的局限性,提出一种基于太赫兹时域光谱成像的目标识别检测方法。以交联聚乙烯电缆接头为研究对象,首先通过等效简化,制作了含分层与金属杂质缺陷的电缆接头等效试验模型;然后分别对含缺陷的人工模型进行太赫兹频域成像和吸收谱成像检测,得到了相应的成像结果;最后,基于上述成像结果,采用改进型YOLOv8模型对不同缺陷图像进行分类识别,结果显示改进后的YOLOv8对电缆接头内部缺陷的检测精确度达到99.8%,联合交叉为0.5时的平均精确度达到99.5%,结果相较于传统方法显著提升。该文所提方法有助于将太赫兹检测技术和目标检测算法推广到对电缆复合绝缘结构内部缺陷的无损可视化检测,可有效辨别电缆复合绝缘内部存在缺陷类型和位置,并可推广至其他层状复合绝缘结构的内部缺陷检测。

基于语料库的“黄河”域外形塑考察:概念史视角

作为中国第二长河,黄河孕育了辉煌灿烂的华夏文明,是中华民族的母亲河。基于语料库检索发现,自19世纪下半叶以来,西方学术著述或主流媒体上,“黄河”这一概念的英语对应词“the Yellow River”不时与“China’s Sorrow”指称共现。为反拨这一被建构的负面形象,笔者借助COCA,COHA,TIME,GloWbE及WIKI等开放源语料库,从概念史的视角考察黄河被视作“China’s Sorrow”的成因及历史背景,分析近世以来黄河域外形象变迁及其“异化”背后的原因。

中国中古音乐史研究的“新感受力”——评《伎乐与乐伎:中古音乐的历史映像》

作为中国音乐断代史之一的中古音乐史,其具有不同一般的时空维度和“中世性”的历史文化特质。夏滟洲的《伎乐与乐伎—中古音乐的历史映像》,以新的学术视域、学术术语和学科范式,将公元3~9世纪的中国中古音乐制度、音乐人、音乐活动、文化区域等历史事项,置于历时性与共时性相交互的学术场域,集中研究中古音乐的主体—伎乐与乐伎的历史变迁和文化特质,构建了中国中古音乐新的“历史映像”,显示出有别于同类研究的“新感受力”和学术张力。
