Study on the Relationship between Fuzzy Theory and Thoughts of Fashion Design

A fuzzy phenomenon has been found between design elements when their classifications were researched. It is hard to separate them since they are interrelated so tight. An explanation between design elements and design thoughts in fashion design based on the fuzzy theory is presented in this paper. I hope this will be a breakthrough for people to enlarge their design thoughts and control their design works.

The Physical Laws and Mathematical Axioms of the Brain’s OS and the Traditional Fundamental Laws of Thought of Logic and Philosophy

This article presents four (4) additions to a book on the brain’s OS published by SciRP in 2015 [1]. It is a kind of appendix to the book. Some familiarity with the earlier book is presupposed. The book itself proposes a complete physical and mathematical blueprint of the brain’s OS. A first addition to the book (see Chapters 5 to 10 below) concerns the relation between the afore-mentioned blueprint and the more than 2000-year-old so-called fundamental laws of thought of logic and philosophy, which came to be viewed as being three (3) in number, namely the laws of 1) Identity, 2) Contradiction, and 3) the Excluded Middle. The blueprint and the laws cannot both be the final foundation of the brain’s OS. The design of the present paper is to interpret the laws in strictly mathematical terms in light of the blueprint. This addition constitutes the bulk of the present article. Chapters 5 to 8 set the stage. Chapters 9 and 10 present a detailed mathematical analysis of the laws. A second addition to the book (Chapter 11) concerns the distinction between the laws and the axioms of the brain’s OS. Laws are part of physics. Axioms are part of mathematics. Since the theory of the brain’s OS involves both physics and mathematics, it exhibits both laws and axioms. A third addition (Chapter 12) to the book involves an additional flavor of digitality in the brain’s OS. In the book, there are five (5). But brain chemistry requires a sixth. It will be called Existence Digitality. A fourth addition (Chapter 13) concerns reflections on the role of imagination in theories of physics in light of the ignorance of deeper causes. Chapters 1 to 4 present preliminary matter, for the most part a brief survey of general concepts derived from what is in the book [1]. Some historical notes are gathered at the end in Chapter 14.

A Few Thoughts on Leopardi’s Linguistic Philosophy

The essay describes,on the one hand,how much technical and scientific knowledge played an important role in Leopardi’s formation-demonstrated in the first place by the Dissertazioni filosofiche and Storia dell’Astronomia-and,on the other hand,highlights how they then influenced his philosophical reflection represented both by his materialist conception of man,and by the thoughts on language in a unitary vision of man and of his expressive abilities.As regards this last area,we have concentrated our analysis on two fundamental themes:1.the distinction between words and terms;2.the dialectical conception of language that holds together apparently antithetical aspects,such as those of vagueness and semantic uniqueness or beauty and usefulness.

近年来国内兴起了新一轮的洛克研究热潮,主要集中于洛克政治哲学方面的研究。洛克流亡荷兰期间,出版了其生前唯一一本以"教育"一词命名的著作——Some Thoughts Concerning Education,到目前为止,此书仍未有一个统一认可的汉语译名。这实际透露出洛克的教育论说此前在教育学界并未得到真正符合其本义的透彻理解。经梳理与分析后认为:Some Thoughts Concerning Education其实尤为洛克本人所重视!它与《人类理解论》《政府论》等一同构成了洛克学说的整体核心部分。从洛克政治哲学的整体设计高度上看待他的家庭幼儿教育理论与实践,是以往研究未能充分关注到的。

The Traditions of Thought Between Progress and Reaction. Cicero: An Interpreter and a Latin Creator of the Aristotelian Platonic Tradition of Thought

Farington’s interpretation of the philosophies of Plato and Cicero as reactionary philosophies is discussed.In the light of our interpretative category,such as that of Traditions of Thought,understood as complex rational,historical constructions,within which metaphysical and epistemological principles are mediated with socio-economic-political-cultural conflicts,all denominated as ideologies,instead it is believed that scientific theories are not actually progressive or regressive,but rather the ideologies,when they interpret the concepts of scientific fact,scientific theory and,more strongly,that of philosophy,within general conceptions of the world.In the light of our interpretative category,they thus appear more than regressive philosophers instead of regressive ideologues,if we consider that the philosopher moves within the narrower fields of the so-called metaphysics and epistemology.Cicero also appears to be the great Latin creator of a way of understanding philosophy and its history with the dominant triad Socrates-Plato-Aristotele in it.All this must be considered within my broader historical-philosophical-epistemological elaboration,enclosed in my published books and papers,cited in references.

Embodied Simulation and a Few Remarks on the Philosophy of Language in Italy

The debate on the state of the art of philosophy in Italy shows many differences from the three main currents of contemporary philosophy, namely deconstructionism, critical theory, and analytic philosophy. On one hand, the philosophical stance towards language, and on the other hand, the strong separation between science and philosophy are the distinctive features of the Italian thought. In particular, philosophy of language shows a fragmented framework in which current researches are an example for future studies on language and human nature. The basic idea behind the Philosophy of Language in Italy is that language has a biological and social nature. The aim of this paper is to give an account of the range of ＂bio＂ through a dialogue between philosophy and neuroscience. I will review the Italian research on mirror neurons with particular attention to the developments in embodied simulation proposed by Vittorio Gallese. I will underline the philosophical aspects of this neuroscientific theory, providing some remarks on intersubjectivity, intentions, and language. Finally, I will suggest future joint studies in neuroscience and the philosophy of language.

Evaluation of Current Design Practices on Estimation of Axial Capacity of Concrete Encased Steel Composite Stub Columns： A Review

This paper presents the design assessment of concrete encased I-sections composite column based approaches given in Eurocode, ACI Code, BS Code and AISC-LRFD. This study includes comparison of various design parameters and evaluation of design strength based on the procedures predicted in the various codes of practices. A practical example has been assumed and calculation has been shown to evaluate their potentiality in understanding in predicting the potentiality of various procedures. The obtained results based on the methods varies widely, because of the different design considerations adopted by the different codes. As such, they have hardly considered the effect of confinement of the concrete due to the presence of longitudinal reinforcements as well as lateral ties. The study has attempted to throw light on critical review and their potentiality in assessing the strength of such concrete encased composite column under purely axial loads.

The Physical Universe and the Theoretical Value of Science:Reflections on the Thought of G.Leopardi

The essay has two main purposes.The first consists of discussing some literary and philosophical thoughts on the epistemological value of science by one of the most famous and celebrated poets in Italian literature,Giacomo Leopardi.The poet firmly believes in the cognitive power of science,capable of revealing false beliefs with the light of reason.However,in his mature reflections,what will radically change will not be the value of scientific activity itself,always admirably accepted,but rather its true salvific force.Leopardi was not a scientist,but he used the scientific culture of his time to critically address the great existential themes of man concerning nature and the universe.He had amply demonstrated a scientific culture since his youthful'History of Astronomy',which would reappear in many of his other literary works.His deep and meditative reflections on the nature of finite and infinite space and time are a clear and fruitful testimony to this.However,Giacomo writes icastically,reason alone is not enough;it needs imagination.The second concerns a first reconstruction of the influence that the philosophy of Enlightenment had on Leopardi’s thought especially in relation to these topics:atheism,rejection of providentialism and anthropocentrism,the conception of nature,the question of the relationship between human and animal intelligence,the rejection of metaphysics,the importance of scientific knowledge.

Curriculum Design on MA Translating and Interpreting in China

Thanks to the vibrant cultural,political and economic exchanges within global village,there is a huge demand to cultivate qual-ified translators and interpreters who are up to the task of bridging cultural and linguistic gaps.Based on her own hands-on experienceof studying translating and interpreting in the UK,the author aims to design a translating and interpreting curriculum based on the needsof Chinese MTI students.This paper will elaborate on the underpinning educational philosophy of this MTI course,the intended goals ofteaching and as well as a detailed design of a two-year course curriculum.

中国特色哲学社会科学构建研究:历程、聚焦与反思

“加快构建中国特色哲学社会科学”是新时代的重要命题,通过文献综述研究发现,2003年至今的研究历程,是以习近平总书记《在哲学社会科学工作座谈会上的讲话》、给《文史哲》编辑部全体编辑回信以及习近平文化思想的提出等标志性事件为节点,经历了“中国特色”的酝酿、正式概念的提出与阐释、加快着力构建与升华等研究阶段。目前学界研究成果主要聚焦于六个方面,即习近平总书记关于中国特色哲学社会科学的重要论述研究,以及“加快构建中国特色哲学社会科学”的本体研究、建构路径、“三大体系”、评价体系、期刊功能等。现有研究也存在着可持续性议题欠缺,研究内容同质化明显,理论与实践、宏观与微观不协调,问题意识不够突出等问题。进一步研究要注意四个方面:一是确立以习近平文化思想为指导研究路径;二是直面中国当下哲学社会科学研究中仍然存在的问题;三是深入具体学科深化、细化、精化对症下药;四是重视智库平台策划功能与学术期刊传播功能。

虚拟实验何以用于教授思想实验——基于科学思想史与认知具身观点的理论分析

物质实验在现实世界中展开,思想实验则在头脑中展开,二者共同构成了科学实验的两种基本类型,其历史分野背后展现的是经验论和唯理论这两种不同的认识论立场,以及由此导致的两者之间对立与统一的辩证关系。基于认知的具身观点,思想实验可分为描述或想象意象世界、模拟操作意象、根据想象的现象形成结论三个相互联系的认知过程,它是具身直觉系统中感性与知性的统一。以计算建模和虚拟仿真技术为基础的虚拟实验的快速崛起,有助于构建一种“人—机”融合的具身系统,并将其中的意象、心理模拟和想象结果外化为感知觉信号,其最大优势不是模拟物质实验,而是教授思想实验。作为一种具身直觉工具,虚拟实验被用于教授思想实验时,应采取实验场景生活化、实验材料意象化、参数控制自主化、操作体验具身化、实验结果直观化等策略,以提升应用效果。
