Discreet investors exert greater influence on cooperation in the public goods game

This paper studies the evolutionary process of cooperative behavior in a public goods game model with heterogeneous investment strategies in square lattices.In the proposed model,players are divided into defectors,cooperators and discreet investors.Among these,defectors do not participate in investing,discreet investors make heterogeneous investments based on the investment behavior and cooperation value of their neighbors,and cooperators invest equally in each neighbor.In real life,heterogeneous investment is often accompanied by time or economic costs.The discreet investors in this paper pay a certain price to obtain their neighbors'investment behavior and cooperation value,which quantifies the time and economic costs of the heterogeneous investment process.The results of Monte Carlo simulation experiments in this study show that discreet investors can effectively resist the invasion of the defectors,form a stable cooperative group and expand the cooperative advantage in evolution.However,when discreet investors pay too high a price,they lose their strategic advantage.The results in this paper help us understand the role of heterogeneous investment in promoting and maintaining human social cooperation.

Since the Harris-Todaro model was proposed in 1970,it has played a crucial role in analyzing various environmental and trade issues in developing countries.This paper analyzes the effects of the amount of public intermediate goods provided by the government,the increase in the fixed wage rate in the urban sector,and the changes in the relative international prices of agricultural and manufacturing goods on labor employment,unemployment,and the economic welfare in the context of a small open economy.It also proposes relevant policies to reduce the unemployment rate while improving national welfare.

Study on Variation of Fitting Goodness of Relation Between Earthquake Frequency and Magnitude before Moderately Strong Earthquakes (Ms≥5.0)

In this paper,characteristics of spatial and temporal variation of linear fitting goodness before some moderately strong earthquakes(Ms≥5.0)in the eastern part of China(east of longitude 180)are studied according to the famous Gutenberg-Richter’s relation expressed as lgN=a-bM,by using the moderate and small events that occurred in and around the source area.The results show that the linear goodness of fitting varies abnormally prior to these moderately strong earthquakes.In the early stage of the earthquake preparatory process,distribution of the energy released through small events in and around the source area is isostatic and the fitting goodness approximates 1,while the distribution of the energy turns to be isostatic before moderately strong earthquakes,leading to the obvious decrease of the linear goodness of fitting.This phenomenon could be a medium term anomaly and a medium term criterion for moderately strong earthquake prediction.

Generalized Kumaraswamy Generalized Power Gompertz Distribution: Statistical Properties, Application, and Validation Using a Modified Chi-Squared Goodness of Fit Test

A new six-parameter continuous distribution called the Generalized Kumaraswamy Generalized Power Gompertz (GKGPG) distribution is proposed in this study, a graphical illustration of the probability density function and cumulative distribution function is presented. The statistical features of the Generalized Kumaraswamy Generalized Power Gompertz distribution are systematically derived and adequately studied. The estimation of the model parameters in the absence of censoring and under-right censoring is performed using the method of maximum likelihood. The test statistic for right-censored data, criteria test for GKGPG distribution, estimated matrix Ŵ, Ĉ, and Ĝ, criteria test Y2n, alongside the quadratic form of the test statistic is derived. Mean simulated values of maximum likelihood estimates and their corresponding square mean errors are presented and confirmed to agree closely with the true parameter values. Simulated levels of significance for Y2n (γ) test for the GKGPG model against their theoretical values were recorded. We conclude that the null hypothesis for which simulated samples are fitted by GKGPG distribution is widely validated for the different levels of significance considered. From the summary of the results of the strength of a specific type of braided cord dataset on the GKGPG model, it is observed that the proposed GKGPG model fits the data set for a significance level ε = 0.05.

Toward inclusive list-making for trade liberalization in environmental goods to reduce carbon emissions

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC)is contemplating expanding its list of environmental goods(EG)for trade liberalization to fight climate change.In support of doing so,this study proposes that a long list that retains controversies is better for carbon emission reduction than a short common list.This study examines four mechanisms of longer lists:enlarging market scales,enriching product mixes,enhancing product sophistication,and enriching trade patterns.Using China’s emerging EG trade during the 2001-2015 period as a case study,this study compares four EG lists with different EG.The results show that:(1)a longer list reduces carbon emissions from both imports and exports,making domestic regions with different advantages have better chances of improving carbon efficiencies.(2)Product sophistication reduces the emission gap between trading partners,regardless of the length of EG lists.(3)China’s EG exports contribute to carbon reduction in leading regions,while EG imports provide laggard regions with better chances of reducing carbon emissions.These findings provide three implications for future list-making:it is important to(1)seek a long and inclusive list rather than a short common list,(2)shift the focus from environmental end-use to the technological contents of products,and(3)balance the demand of laggard regions to import and the capacity of leading regions to export.

Goodness of Fit Test Based on BLUS Residuals for Error Distribution of Regression Model

The error distribution testing plays an important role in linear regression as distribution misspecification seriously affects the validity and efficiency of regression analysis. The least squares (OLS) residuals are often used to construct test statistics;in order to overcome the non-independent and identically residuals, the best linear unbiased scale (BLUS) residuals are applied in this paper, which, unlike OLS residuals, the residuals vector is identically and independently distributed. Based on the BLUS residuals, a new test statistic is constructed by using the sample random distance between sample quantile and quasi sample quantile derived from the null distribution, and the goodness-of-fit test of error distribution in the linear model is studied. The powers of the new tests under certain alternatives are examined. They are more powerful tests for the hypotheses concerned.

Frequency Domain Goodness of Fit Test Based Spectrum Sensing Method with Dynamically Varying Noise

In cognitive radio networks,spectrum sensing under circumstances of dynamically varying noise and lacking prior information is a key challenge to the conventional spectrum sensing algorithms.Since the necessary information is rather difficult to obtain practically,most existing spectrum sensing methods are fettered in applications.Motivated by these,in this paper,a Frequency domain Goodness of Fit Test(FGoF)based spectrum sensing method is proposed.The FGoF makes full use of underlying information in Guard-Bands and the advantages of GoF test works for any distribution.Analytical and simulated results show that the FGoF is a robust spectrum sensing method in cognitive radio with the inherent advantages of invulnerability to dynamically varying noise.

This thesis attempts to seek the goodness of human nature,which is core of the moral society,analyzing the "Original Sin"——violence,aggression and greed,etc.In Lear,Edward Bond depicts the sinful characters,say,Lear,the two daughters and the victims of violence vividly,however,each one of them cannot persist the temptation of the innate sin,resulting in the eventual self-destruction.Despite the sinful behaviors in the daily life or the political world,the goodness of human nature rather than the inborn sinful nature should play an important role to build the peaceful and harmonious society.

Goodness-of-fit tests for multi-dimensional copulas:Expanding application to historical drought data

The question of how to choose a copula model that best fits a given dataset is a predominant limitation of the copula approach, and the present study aims to investigate the techniques of goodness-of-fit tests for multi-dimensional copulas. A goodness-of-fit test based on Rosenblatt＇s transformation was mathematically expanded from two dimensions to three dimensions and procedures of a bootstrap version of the test were provided. Through stochastic copula simulation, an empirical application of historical drought data at the Lintong Gauge Station shows that the goodness-of-fit tests perform well, revealing that both trivariate Gaussian and Student t copulas are acceptable for modeling the dependence structures of the observed drought duration, severity, and peak. The goodness-of-fit tests for multi-dimensional copulas can provide further support and help a lot in the potential applications of a wider range of copulas to describe the associations of correlated hydrological variables. However, for the application of copulas with the number of dimensions larger than three, more complicated computational efforts as well as exploration and parameterization of corresponding copulas are required.

The subject of assessment of goodness-of-fit in logistic regression model has attracted the attention of many scientists and researchers.
