Pod maturity can be determined by blasting with a pressure washer to remove outer skin of the pod (exocarp) to expose the color of the middle layer (mesocarp). The mesocarp color changes with maturity from white to yellow, orange, brown and finally black. The sum of percentage from orange, brown, and black mesocarp (OBB) color and black color (BL) represents the kernels that are mature enough to harvest. The goal of this research is to identify methodologies to estimate OBB and BL of the pods using RGB images taken in the field and validate the proposed model using other pod images. The Mahalanobis distance classification method was used to process sets of images and calculate pod area (number of pixels) corresponding to two classes (mesocarp and background) with nine different color groups. The results showed a performance of 94% effectiveness for mesocarp using Mahalanobis distance classification. Statistical regression for OBB and BL was developed based on 315 images of peanut pods taken from the field. The R2 and root mean square error of predicted and actual OBB were 0.93 and 4.1%, respectively. The R2 and root mean square error of predicted and actual BL were 0.88 and 1.8%, respectively. The validation of OBB using other images provided reasonable estimation (R2 = 0.98 and RMSE = 2.73%). This study introduces a novel, cost-effective, and non-destructive method for estimating peanut maturity using RGB imagery and Mahalanobis distance classification in the field. This innovative approach addresses the limitations of traditional methods and offers a robust alternative for real-time maturity assessment.展开更多

Knowledge about suitable growing zone and evaluation of yield advantage is of practicall importance for LMYS in this region. Fifteen LMYS, two high-yielding inbred japonica check varieties (CK-J) and two high-yielding hybrid indica check varieties (CK-I) were grown at Xinghua (119.57°E, 33.05°N) of Lixiahe region, Yangzhou (119.25°E, 32.30°N)of Yanjiang region, Changshu (120.46°E, 31.41°N)of Taihu Lake region, and Ningbo (121.31°E, 29.45°N) of Ningshao Plain in 2013 and 2014. The results showed that maturity dates of the 15 were later than the secure maturity date at Xinghua and 6, 14 and 15 LMYS were mature before the secure maturity date at Yangzhou, Changshu and Ningbo, respectively. One variety was identified as high-yielding variety among LMYS (HYYS) at Yangzhou, 8 HYYS in 201:3 and 9 HYYS in 2014 at Changshu, 9 HYYS at Ningbo. HYYS here referred to the variety among LMYS that was mature before the secure maturity date and had at least 8% higher grain yield than both CK-J and CK-I at each experimental site. Grain yield of HYYS at each experimental site was about 12.0 t ha-1 or higher, and was significantly higher than CK varieties. High yield of HYYS was mainly attributed to larger sink size due to more spikelets per panicle. Plant height of HYYS was about 140 cm, and was significantly higher than check varieties. Significant positive correlations were recorded between duration from heading to maturity stage and grain yield, and also between whole growth periods and grain yield. HYYS had obvious advantage over check varieties in biomass accumulation and leaf area duration from heading to maturity stage. Comprehensive consideration about safe matudty and yield performance of LMYS at each experimental site, Taihu Lake region (representative site Changshu) and Ningshao Plain (representative site Ningbo) were thought suitable growing zones for LMYS in the lower reaches of Yangtze River. The main factors underlying high yield ofHYYS were larger sink size, higher plant height, longer duration from heading to maturity stage and whole growth periods, and higher biomass accumulation and leaf area duration during grain filling stage.展开更多

In this study, we targeted the primary metabolites in the epicarp, the mesocarp and the seed of the fruit of Dacryodes edulis at taste maturity, which were selected for their nutritional quality and its appreciation throughout the Gulf of Guinea area, which is very popular because of its large size, texture and special taste. The evaluation of total carbohydrates, total lipids and soluble proteins in the epicarp, mesocarp and seed of the fruit at taste maturity was made from spectrophotometer measurements. The overall analysis of the results of the present study shows that total carbohydrates, total lipids and proteins accumulate more in the seed with respectively 251.33 ± 1.15 mg/g DM;9.92 ± 0.201 mg/g DM and 55.075 ± 0.024 mg/g DM. Likewise, the results indicate low concentrations of total carbohydrates and total lipids in the epicarp with respectively 245 ± 1 mg/g DM and 4.77 ± 0.047 mg/g DM, on the other hand, it is the mesocarp which presents the lowest content of soluble proteins: 28.075 ± 3.231 mg/g DM. This variation could be linked to the nature of the compartment, more particularly to the storage location. This comparative study could lead to the valorization of the seed of the fruit of Dacryodes edulis for its richness in metabolites and arouse significant interest in nutrition.展开更多

Measuring an organization’s maturity in software delivery is crucial for efficiency and quality. The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) framework provides a roadmap for improvement but assessing an organization’s CMM Level is challenging. This paper offers a quantitative approach tailored to the CMM framework, using Goal-Question-Metric (GQM) frame-works for each key process area (KPA). These frameworks include metrics and questions to compute maturity scores effectively. The study also refines practices into questions for a thorough assessment. The result is an Analysis Matrix that calculates weighted scores and an overall maturity score. This approach helps organizations assess and enhance their software delivery processes systematically, aiming for improved practices and growth.展开更多

Identifying yield- and maturity-related traits and breeding for them will enhance production. Ten morphological/physiological traits: time of shoot emergence, time of tuber initiation, plant height, shoot dry weight, time of shoot senescence, tuber fresh weight (tuber yield), tuber number/plant, tuber parenchyma colour, tuber dry matter content and tuber dormancy period were assessed in eight accessions of D. alata L. (water yam) on the field in 2008 and 2009. Tuber yield-related traits were identified as shoot dry weight and time of shoot emergence. Shoot dry weight had the strongest positive effect; time of shoot emergence had a negative effect. High yielding accessions had a high shoot dry weight, but were low in tuber dry matter content. Uniform tuber parenchyma colour was the sole trait related to tuber maturity, but early and late senescing accessions did not consistently differ in the trait. TDa 00/00103 is high yielding and early maturing and may be used as a parent for breeding for high yield and early maturity in D. alata.展开更多

文摘Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(n-3 PUFAs),particularly docosahexaenoic acid(22:6n-3,DHA),play crucial roles in the reproductive health of vertebrates, including humans.Nevertheless, the underlying mechanism related to this phenomenon remains largely unknown. In this study,we employed two zebrafish genetic models,i.e.,elovl2^(-/-)mutant as an endogenous DHAdeficient model and fat1(omega-3 desaturase encoding gene)transgenic zebrafish as an endogenous DHA-rich model,to investigate the effects of DHA on oocyte maturation and quality. Results show that the elovl2^(-/-)mutants had much lower fecundity and poorer oocyte quality than the wild-type controls, while the fat1 zebrafish had higher fecundity and better oocyte quality than wildtype controls.DHA deficiency in elovl2^(-/-)embryos led to defects in egg activation, poor microtubule stability, and reduced pregnenolone levels.Further study revealed that DHA promoted pregnenolone synthesis by enhancing transcription of cyp11a1,which encodes the cholesterol side-chain cleavage enzyme, thereby stabilizing microtubule assembly during oogenesis. In turn, the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis was enhanced by DHA.In conclusion, using two unique genetic models, our findings demonstrate that endogenously synthesized DHA promotes oocyte maturation and quality by promoting pregnenolone production via transcriptional regulation of cyp11a1.

文摘Aromatic fractions of 140 oils and condensates that originated from different types of source rocks (marine shale, terrestrial shale and marine carbonate) were analyzed using gas chromatographymass spectrometry (GC-MS) to investigate the relative distributions of methylated dibenzothiophenes with respect to thermal maturity. The positions of methyl groups of trimethyldibenzothiophene isomers (TMDBTs) including those used in the definition of maturity indicator TMDBT index in previous studies were firmly identified by co-elution of internal standards in GC-MS analysis and by comparing with reported retention indices.A new maturity ratio related to dimethyldibenzothiophenes (DMDBTs) is proposed on the basis of the differences in thermodynamic stability among different DMDBT isomers.Another maturity index (TMDBT-I2) based on TMDBTs is also suggested on the basis of our empirical observations and presumed thermodynamic stability of TMDBT isomers. These two newly proposed (2,6 + 3,6)-/1,4-DMDBT ratio and TMDBT-I2 correlate well with MDR (4-/1-methyldibenzothiophene)and 2,4-/1,4-DMDBT ratios, suggesting their common chemical reaction mechanisms and similar behavior with increasing maturity. Therefore, they can be effectively applied for maturity assessments.Furthermore, the TMDBTs related maturity parameters are more reliable for over-mature oils and condensates due to the relatively higher concentrations of thermodynamically unstable TMDBT isomers,i.e.1,4,6-,1,4,8-and 3,4,6-TMDBT in this study than those of 1-methyldibenzothiophene (1-MDBT) or 1,4-DMDBT.In contrast with 4,6-/1,4-DMDBT,the newly proposed (2,6 + 3,6)-/1,4-DMDBT ratios for oils that originated from different types of source rocks have approximately same relationship with the oil maturity (Rc %).This suggests that the lithology and organic facies may have relatively less influence on (2,6 + 3,6)-/1,4-DMDBT ratio compared to 4,6-/1,4-DMDBT.The maturity parameters based on methylated dibenzothiophenes are particularly useful in the maturity assessments of post-and over-mature oils and condensates and can complement maturity indicators based on steranes and terpanes.
文摘Peanuts pods grow underground and mature unevenly, resulting that choosing the correct time to harvest is more complicated than other crops. This innovative approach addresses the limitations of traditional methods and offers a robust alternative for real-time maturity assessment.

文摘Late-maturity type of Yongyou japonica/indica hybrids series (LMYS) have shown great yield potential, and are being widely planted in the lower reaches of Yangtze River, China. The main factors underlying high yield ofHYYS were larger sink size, higher plant height, longer duration from heading to maturity stage and whole growth periods, and higher biomass accumulation and leaf area duration during grain filling stage.
文摘The fruits of Dacryodes edulis are rich in biologically active substances, which makes them of great interest in terms of validation. This comparative study could lead to the valorization of the seed of the fruit of Dacryodes edulis for its richness in metabolites and arouse significant interest in nutrition.

文摘Oilseed rape is an important oilseed crop planted worldwide.Maturity classification plays a crucial role in enhancing yield and expediting breeding research.Conventional methods of maturity classification are laborious and destructive in nature. In this study,a nondestructive classification model was established on the basis of hyperspectral imaging combined with machine learning algorithms.Initially, hyperspectral images were captured for 3 distinct ripeness stages of rapeseed, and raw spectral data were extracted from the hyperspectral images. The raw spectral data underwent preprocessing using 5 pretreatment methods,namely,Savitzky-Golay,first derivative, second derivative(D2nd),standard normal variate, and detrend,as well as various combinations of these methods.Subsequently, the feature wavelengths were extracted from the processed spectra using competitive adaptive reweighted sampling, successive projection algorithm(SPA),iterative spatial shrinkage of interval variables(IVISSA),and their combination algorithms, respectively. The classification models were constructed using the following algorithms:extreme learning machine,k-nearest neighbor, random forest, partial least-squares discriminant analysis, and support vector machine(SVM)algorithms, applied separately to the full wavelength and the feature wavelengths.A comparative analysis was conducted to evaluate the performance of diverse preprocessing methods, feature wavelength selection algorithms, and classification models, and the results showed that the model based on preprocessing-feature wavelength selection-machine learning could effectively predict the maturity of rapeseed. The D2nd-IVISSA-SPA-SVM model exhibited the highest modeling performance, attaining an accuracy rate of 97.86%.The findings suggest that rapeseed maturity can be rapidly and nondestructively ascertained through hyperspectral imaging.

文摘The brain is a high-energy demanding organ, consuming around 20%of the metabolic energy generated. To fulfill this demand, cerebral blood flow(CBF)supplies oxygen and glucose continuously through the intricate network of cerebral blood vessels.Although for many years brain activity and blood flow were conceived as independent processes,MRI-based functional brain imaging demonstrated that there is a coupling between them.
文摘AIM: To describe the clinical characteristics and late results of patients with retinopathy of prematurity(ROP)treated with "6h cryotherapy".·METHODS: Out of 1252 infants screened for ROP, 52 patients were treated with temporal 6h cryotherapy from1997 to 2005 were recalled to our clinic. Among these 23 patients were available and 46 eyes of 23 infants were included to evaluate for visual acuity, refractive error, ocular alignment, nystagmus, retinal examination(abnormal branching of retinal vessels, retinal thinning, latis degenerations, tortuosity of vessels, straightening of temporal vessels, narrowing of the angle of vessel in the juxtapapillary entrance, pigment changes, macular heterotopia), optic atrophy and optic disc cupping, axial length at birth and axial length at 1y.·RESULTS: The median age at examination was 7(5-18)y.In 32.6% of patients, the visual acuity was ≤20/200 and the mean best corrected visual acuity was 20/35 as measured with a Snellen chart. Mean spherical refractive error was-1.76±2.69 D. The degree of myopia at the last examination was found to be correlated with the elongation of the eye in the first year of life. Exotropia was present in 17.4%(n =8) of infants and esotropia in13%(n =6). The most common retinal abnormality was abnormal branching of retinal vessels(82.6%) followed by retinal thinning(52.2%).·CONCLUSION: The late clinical outcomes of infants with ROP treated in our clinic with cryotherapy seems to comparable with results of laser treatment.

文摘Watermelon(Citrullus lanatus)holds global significance as a fruit with high economic and nutritional value.Exploring the regulatory network of watermelon male reproductive development is crucial for developing male sterile materials and facilitating cross-breeding.Despite its importance, there is a lack of research on the regulation mechanism of male reproductive development in watermelon. In this study,we identified that ClESR2,a VIIIb subclass member in the APETALA2/Ethylene Responsive Factor(AP2/ERF)superfamily,was a key factor in pollen development.RNA insitu hybridization confirmed significantClESR2 expression in the tapetum and pollen during the later stage of anther development. The pollens of transgenic plants showed major defects in morphology and vitality at the late development stage. The RNA-seq and protein interaction assay confirmed that ClESR2 regulates pollen morphology and fertility by interacting with key genes involved in pollen development at both transcriptional and protein levels. These suggest that Enhancer of Shoot Regeneration 2(ESR2)plays an important role in pollen maturation and vitality. This study helps understand the male reproductive development of watermelon, providing a theoretical foundation for developing male sterile materials.
文摘Software delivery is vital for modern organizations, driving innovation and competitiveness. This approach helps organizations assess and enhance their software delivery processes systematically, aiming for improved practices and growth.

文摘Based on the production curves, changes in hydrocarbon composition and quantities over time, and production systems from key trial production wells in lacustrine shale oil areas in China, fine fraction cutting experiments and molecular dynamics numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the effects of changes in shale oil composition on macroscopic fluidity. The concept of“component flow”for shale oil was proposed, and the formation mechanism and conditions of component flow were discussed. The research reveals findings in four aspects.First,a miscible state of light, medium and heavy hydrocarbons form within micropores/nanopores of underground shale according to similarity and intermiscibility principles, which make components with poor fluidity suspended as molecular aggregates in light and medium hydrocarbon solvents, such as heavy hydrocarbons, thereby decreasing shale oil viscosity and enhancing fluidity and outflows.Second,small-molecule aromatic hydrocarbons act as carriers for component flow, and the higher the content of gaseous and light hydrocarbons, the more conducive it is to inhibit the formation of larger aggregates of heavy components such as resin and asphalt, thus increasing their plastic deformation ability and bringing about better component flow efficiency.Third, higher formation temperatures reduce the viscosity of heavy hydrocarbon components, such as wax, thereby improving their fluidity.Fourth, preservation conditions, formation energy, and production system play important roles in controlling the content of light hydrocarbon components, outflow rate, and forming stable“component flow”,which are crucial factors for the optimal compatibility and maximum flow rate of multi-component hydrocarbons in shale oil.The component flow of underground shale oil is significant for improving single-well production and the cumulative ultimate recovery of shale oil.
文摘Excellent progress has been made in the last few decades in the cure rates of pediatric malignancies, with more than 80%of children with cancer who have access to contemporary treatment being cured. However, the therapies responsible for this survival can also produce adverse physical and psychological long-term outcomes, referred to as late effects, which appear months to years after the completion of cancer treatment.Research has shown that 60%to 90%of childhood cancer survivors(CCSs)develop one or more chronic health conditions, and 20%to 80%of survivors experience severe or life-threatening complications during adulthood. Therefore, understanding the late side effects of such treatments is important to improve the health and quality of life of the growing population of CCSs.

文摘[Objective] To study the inheritance and possible molecular marker of α-LMA and their relations to falling number. [Method] Recombined inbreed lines (RILS) of Chuanmai 42 (LMA genotype) crossed with Chuannong 16 (no LMA) were employed to test the late maturity α-amylase (LMA) by EL ISA kits, the Falling Number (FN),and three QTL,SSR markers (Xgwm 577,Xwmc276,Xwmc273) of LMA gene. [Result] Results suggested that LMA was controlled by a single, and the three SSR markers seemed to be not efficient to test LMA gene in this RILS. LMA was an important factor on FN,meanwhile FN was also affected by other factors. [Conclusion] The study could provide references for the breed of quality wheat.

文摘Maturity period is a critical trait in soybean breeding and determines the particularly ecological region of a cultivar. In present study,118 soybean varieties spanning three artificial breeding periods(1923-1970,the early breeding period;1971-1990,the mid-breeding period;and 1991-2010,the current breeding period)in northeast China were selected.Fourteen DNA-specified markers including cleaved amplified polymorphic sequences(CAPS),derived CAPS(d CAPS)and fragment length polymorphism(FLP)markers were filtered to analyze the genetic diversity from E1 to E4.The results were as the followings:the soybean varieties with more gene frequencies showed more gene diversities.Among the E genes,E1 and E3 genes showed more allelic diversities than E2,and E4 only had diversity in the early breeding period.During the artificial process, some alleles of E genes disappeared and some new ones were generated.More gene diversities were observed in soybean germplasms, and new excellent germplasms could be explored to improve yield traits in artificial breeding programs.Furthermore, six different E gene combinations were observed in the early breeding period, five in the mid-breeding period and 11 in the current breeding period.Three elite genotypes were identified through a century artificial selection, while new genotypes were also found in different breeding periods.Of them,e1-nle2e3-tr E4 was a new soybean genotype of extremely early maturity in the current breeding period, which was widely suitable for planting in 00 and 000 maturity groups. Moreover, significant correlation was found between E2 and E3,suggesting that light length and light quality were two key factors for soybean maturity in northeast China. The understanding of the E genes variation underlying soybean maturity could facilitate the procession to breed elite varieties adapted for diverse regions.
文摘BACKGROUND Malignant transformation(MT)of mature cystic teratoma(MCT)has a poor prognosis, especially in advanced cases.Concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT)has an inhibitory effect on MT.CASE SUMMARY Herein,we present a case in which CCRT had a reduction effect preoperatively.A 73-year-old woman with pyelonephritis was referred to our hospital.Computed tomography revealed right hydronephrosis and a 6-cm pelvic mass.Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy(EUS-FNB)revealed squamous cell carci-noma.The patient was diagnosed with MT of MCT.Due to her poor general con-dition and renal malfunction,we selected CCRT,expecting fewer adverse effects. After CCRT,her performance status improved, and the tumor size was reduced;surgery was performed.Five months postoperatively, the patient developed dis-semination and lymph node metastases.Palliative chemotherapy was ineffective. She died 18 months after treatment initiation.CONCLUSION EUS-FNB was useful in the diagnosis of MT of MCT;CCRT suppressed the disea-se and improved quality of life.

文摘Inadequate yield potential of available varieties and their long growth periods are two of the factors limiting yam (Dioscorea spp.) production. TDa 00/00103 is high yielding and early maturing and may be used as a parent for breeding for high yield and early maturity in D. alata.

文摘The high Ba-Sr rocks can provide significant clues about the evolution of the continent lithosphere, but their petrogenesis remains controversial.Identifying the Late Cretaceous high Ba–Sr granodiorites in the SE Lhasa Block could potentially provide valuable insights into the continent evolution of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.Zircon U–Pb ages suggest that the granodiorites were emplaced at 87.32±0.43 Ma.Geochemically, the high Ba–Sr granodiorites are characterized by elevated K_(2)O+Na_(2)O contents(8.18-8.73 wt%)and K_(2)O/Na_(2)O ratios(0.99-1.25,mostly>1),and belong to high-K calc-alkaline to shoshonitic series. The Yonglaga granodiorites show notably high Sr(653-783 ppm)and Ba(1346-1531 ppm)contents, plus high Sr/Y(30.92-38.18)and(La/Yb)_(N)(27.7-34.7)ratios,but low Y(20.0-22.8 ppm)and Yb(1.92-2.19 ppm)contents with absence of negative Eu anomalies(δEu=0.83-0.88),all similar to typical high Ba–Sr granitoids. The variable zirconεHf(t)values of-4.58 to+12.97,elevated initial^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr isotopic ratios of 0.707254 to 0.707322 and lowεNd(t)values of-2.8 to-3.6 with decoupling from the Hf system suggest that a metasomatized mantle source included significant recycled ancient materials. The occurrence of such high Ba–Sr intrusions indicates previous contributions of metasomatized mantle-derived juvenile material to the continents, which imply the growth of continental crust during the Late Cretaceous in the SE Lhasa.Together with regional data,we infer that the underplated mafic magma provides a significant amount of heat, which leads to partial melting of the juvenile crust. The melting of the metasomatized mantle could produce a juvenile mafic lower crust, from which the high Ba–Sr granitoids were derived from reworking of previous mafic crust during the Late Cretaceous(ca.100-80 Ma)in the SE Lhasa.
