Enhancing pediatric asthma management through multifaceted health education

BACKGROUND Pediatric asthma is a significant public health issue that impacts the quality of life of children globally.Traditional management approaches focus on symptom control and medication adherence but often overlook the comprehensive educational needs of patients and their families.A multifaceted health education approach may offer a more holistic strategy in managing pediatric asthma,especially in outpatient settings.AIM To evaluate the efficacy of a comprehensive health education strategy in improving disease management,medication adherence,and quality of life among children with asthma in outpatient settings.METHODS In total,100 pediatric patients with severe asthma were enrolled from January 2021 to November 2022 and randomly allocated to a control group(n=50)or an observation group(n=50).The control group received standard nursing care,including basic nursing interventions and health education upon admission.In contrast,the observation group was exposed to a broad spectrum of health education methodologies,including internet-based hospital systems,social media channels,one-on-one verbal education,informational brochures,slide present ations,telephone check-ins,animated videos,and illustrated health education manuals.Data on asthma management knowledge,symptom control,quality of life[St.George’s Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ)],treatment adherence,and nursing satisfaction were collected and analyzed.RESULTS The scores of the observation group in knowledge areas,such as medication,home care,disease understanding,symptom management,prevention strategies,and nutritional guidance,were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).In addition,the observation group exhibited greater symptom control,improved quality of life based on their SGRQ scores,and higher treatment adherence post-intervention(P<0.05).Nursing satisfaction was also rated higher in the observation group across all evaluated areas(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Implementing a diversified health education approach in pediatric asthma management significantly enhances disease understanding,symptom management,and treatment adherence,leading to improved quality of life for affected children.These findings underscore the importance of multifaceted clinical health education in augmenting disease awareness and facilitating continuous improvements in asthma control rates,highlighting the potential benefits of incorporating comprehensive educational strategies into pediatric asthma care protocols.

It has been acknowledged by Chinese translators that in translating English puns the center should be put on the thorough comprehension of the original expression that more often than not has more than one meanings and the flexible handling of conversion from the native language to the target one. Literal translation will often be impossible, annotation redundant, and the restructuring and remaking of new ways that create and maintain balance or similarity in function and value will be more preferred as a possible way-out for pun-translation. Examples attached are from the writer of this article who is also the translator of a published historical book where punning can be found.

Cultivation of Translators for Multimodal Translation in the New Media Age

In the 21st century,the development of digital and new media technologies has ushered in an age of pervasive multimodal communication,which has significantly amplified the role of multimodal translation in facilitating crosscultural exchanges.Despite the profound impact of these developments,the prevailing translation pedagogy remains predominantly focused on the enhancement of linguistic translation skills,with noticeable neglect of the imperative to cultivate students’competencies in multimodal translation.Based on the distinctive characteristics and challenges that multimodal translation presents in the context of new media,this study delves into the formulation of educational objectives and curriculum design for the training of multimodal translators.The intent is to propose a framework that can guide the preparation of translators who are adept and equipped to navigate the complexities and demands of the contemporary age.

Prediction of multifaceted asymmetric radiation from the edge movement in density-limit disruptive plasmas on Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak using random forest

Multifaceted asymmetric radiation from the edge(MARFE) movement which can cause density limit disruption is often encountered during high density operation on many tokamaks. Therefore, identifying and predicting MARFE movement is meaningful to mitigate or avoid density limit disruption for the steady-state high-density plasma operation. A machine learning method named random forest(RF) has been used to predict the MARFE movement based on the density ramp-up experiment in the 2022’s first campaign of Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak(EAST). The RF model shows that besides Greenwald fraction which is the ratio of plasma density and Greenwald density limit, dβp/dt,H98and d Wmhd/dt are relatively important parameters for MARFE-movement prediction. Applying the RF model on test discharges, the test results show that the successful alarm rate for MARFE movement causing density limit disruption reaches ~ 85% with a minimum alarm time of ~ 40 ms and mean alarm time of ~ 700 ms. At the same time, the false alarm rate for non-disruptive and non-density-limit disruptive discharges can be kept below 5%. These results provide a reference to the prediction of MARFE movement in high density plasmas, which can help the avoidance or mitigation of density limit disruption in future fusion reactors.

RNPS1 stabilizes NAT10 protein to facilitate translation in cancer via tRNA ac^(4)C modification

Existing studies have underscored the pivotal role of N-acetyltransferase 10(NAT10) in various cancers. However, the outcomes of protein-protein interactions between NAT10 and its protein partners in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC) remain unexplored. In this study, we identified a significant upregulation of RNA-binding protein with serine-rich domain 1(RNPS1) in HNSCC, where RNPS1 inhibits the ubiquitination degradation of NAT10 by E3 ubiquitin ligase, zinc finger SWIM domain-containing protein 6(ZSWIM6), through direct protein interaction, thereby promoting high NAT10 expression in HNSCC. This upregulated NAT10 stability mediates the enhancement of specific tRNA ac^(4)C modifications, subsequently boosting the translation process of genes involved in pathways such as IL-6 signaling, IL-8 signaling, and PTEN signaling that play roles in regulating HNSCC malignant progression, ultimately influencing the survival and prognosis of HNSCC patients. Additionally, we pioneered the development of TRMC-seq, leading to the discovery of novel t RNA-ac^(4)C modification sites, thereby providing a potent sequencing tool for tRNAac^(4)C research. Our findings expand the repertoire of tRNA ac^(4)C modifications and identify a role of tRNA ac^(4)C in the regulation of mRNA translation in HNSCC.

Translation regulation is an important layer of gene expression:Generation of genome-wide expression datasets at multi-omics levels in spatial,temporal,and cell-type resolution is essential for deciphering brain complexity.Regulation of gene expression is a highly dynamic process aiming at the production of precise levels of gene products to guarantee optimal cellular function,in response to physiological cues.Speedy advances in next-generation sequencing enabled the understanding of epigenomic and transcriptomic dynamic landscapes of different brain regions along development,aging,and disease progression.However,the correlation of the“transcriptome”with protein levels is poor because numerous mRNAs are subjected to manipulation of their translation efficiency,to warrant a favorable result under certain conditions.Hence,it is widely accepted that regulation at the translation level is a vital layer of gene expression.Quantification of actively translated mRNA populations(i.e.,“translatome”)is a more reliable predictor of the“proteome”(Wang et al.,2020).

A Corpus-Based Study on the Translators’Styles in the English Versions of The True Story of Ah-Q

The True Story of Ah-Q written by Lu Xun has been translated into forty different languages,making great contributions to the external dissemination of Chinese culture.This paper adopts the corpus stylistics method to analyze the translators’styles presented by William A.Lyell and Julia Lovell’s translations of Ah-Q.Based on the self-built comparable corpus of the two translations,the paper investigates and analyzes them from the lexical and sentence level.In terms of vocabulary,the translations are statistically analyzed from the standardized type-token ratio,word frequency,word length and vocabulary density;at the sentence level,the article studies the average sentence lengths and sentence complexity.The first major finding is that Lovell’s vocabulary is richer than that of Lyell,and Lovell’s average word length is longer.Also,the average sentence length of both translations exceeds the original text,and Lovell has the highest average sentence length.Secondly,Lovell prefers to use simple sentences while Lyell prefers complex sentences.Nevertheless,both of them strive to make Lu Xun’s works understandable to foreign readers,thus understanding Chinese culture better.

Translator Stylistics:A Corpus Analysis of Two English Translations of Traditional Chinese Medicine Classic Da Sheng Bian

Da Sheng Bian,a significant work on obstetrics and gynecology that emerged in the early Qing Dynasty,was initially published as“A Treatise on Midwifery”in 1842 by William Lockhart,a British missionary to China.In 1894,John G.Kerr,an American missionary,translated the text as“The Tat Shang Pin”.This paper conducts a comparative study of the two English translations using a self-constructed English-Chinese parallel corpus of Da Sheng Bian.The study explores the translation styles of the two translators by examining the token-types ratio and frequency at the lexical level,mean sentence length at the syntactic level,and the use of conjunctions at the discourse level.The observed differences in translation styles between the two translations are analyzed in relation to the translators’backgrounds and translation strategies.

Multifaceted Disparities Associated with Translator Earnings: A Quantitative Study of Upwork Profiles

This study aims to quantitatively explore the multifaceted determinants that influence earnings in the translation industry.Using a dataset comprising 45000 translator profiles,the study focusses on delineating disparities correlated with demographic variables such as age,gender,home country wealth,and language pairs.The study uses a random forest regression model to delineate the complex interaction between gender,the economic standing of a translator’s domicile country,age,and linguistic proficiency,as they relate to earnings.Our findings substantiate and,in many ways,extend existing qualitative and anecdotal evidence that has shaped the discourse in this sector.The rigorous empirical framework employed here can be replicated or adapted to study other sectors within the gig economy,thus contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of labour dynamics in the digital age.

A STABILITY RESULT FOR TRANSLATINGSPACELIKE GRAPHS IN LORENTZ MANIFOLDS

In this paper,we investigate spacelike graphs defined over a domain Ω⊂M^(n) in the Lorentz manifold M^(n)×ℝ with the metric−ds^(2)+σ,where M^(n) is a complete Riemannian n-manifold with the metricσ,Ωhas piecewise smooth boundary,and ℝ denotes the Euclidean 1-space.We prove an interesting stability result for translating spacelike graphs in M^(n)×ℝ under a conformal transformation.

A Descriptive Translation Study of Chinese Translation of French Musical Roméo et Juliette

This paper presents a Descriptive Translation Study(DTS)analysis of the Chinese translation of the French musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet,titled Roméo et Juliette:de la Haineàl’Amour.Romeo and Juliet,a timeless play by Shakespeare,has captivated audiences since its premiere in 1597 and has been adapted into various forms,including stage productions,films,musicals,and operas.The focus of this study is to analyze the Chinese translation of the French musical adaptation from a DTS perspective.DTS is an approach that aims to understand the translation process and its reception in the target culture.By examining language choices,cultural references,and adaptation strategies,this study seeks to shed light on how the Chinese translation of the French musical functions within the target culture and influences the reception and interpretation of the source text.This analysis is expected to gain insights into the challenges and strategies employed in translating a musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet into Chinese.The findings of this study will contribute to the field of translation studies and provide a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in the translation of musical works.

The Translation of Allusions in Political Discourse:An Intertextuality Perspective

drawn from ancient classics are the treasures of traditional Chinese culture.The allusions used in Xi Jinping:The Governance of China illustrate a distinctive feature of political discourse,and the publication of its English version provides a valuable opportunity for the study of allusions in translated political discourse.With the English translations of 241 allusions collected from two volumes of the book,we classified these allusions into three categories of history,culture,and literature based on their original sources.Then we analyzed the strategies used in translating the allusions,and provided typical examples to illustrate the use of such translation strategies for each category.Finally,we tried to account for the use of these strategies in light of the intertextuality theory.
