Choosing proper interpretation parameters for log evaluation is difficult due to complicated mineral compositions and variable mineral contents. Based on the QAPF classification scheme given by IUGS, we propose a method to determine the mineral contents of volcanic rocks using log data and a genetic algorithm. According to the QAPF scheme, minerals in volcanic rocks are divided into five groups: Q(quartz), A (Alkaline feldspar), P (plagioclase), M (mafic) and F (feldspathoid). We propose a model called QAPM including porosity for the volumetric analysis of reservoirs. The log response equations for density, apparent neutron porosity, transit time, gamma ray and volume photoelectrical cross section index were first established with the mineral parameters obtained from the Schlumberger handbook of log mineral parameters. Then the volumes of the four minerals in the matrix were calculated using the genetic algorithm (GA). The calculated porosity, based on the interpretation parameters, can be compared with core porosity, and the rock names given in the paper based on QAPF classification according to the four mineral contents are compatible with those from the chemical analysis of the core samples.展开更多

However, it is unable to estimate bottom depths and its every inversion point only has a single solution. In order to resolve such weaknesses, this paper presents an improved tilt-depth method based on the magnetic anomaly expression of vertical contact with a finite depth extent, which can simultaneously estimate top and bottom depths of magnetic bodies. In addition, multiple characteristic points are selected on the tilt angle map for joint computation to improve reliability of inversion solutions. Two- and three- dimensional model tests show that this improved tilt-depth method is effective in inverting buried depths of top and bottom bodies, and has a higher inversion precision for top depths than the conventional method. The improved method is then used to process aeromagnetic data over the Changling Fault Depression in the Songliao Basin, and inversion results of top depths are found to be more accurate for actual top depths of volcanic rocks in two nearby drilled wells than those using the conventional tilt-depth method.展开更多

The structures and morphologies of these products are investigated by the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning/ transmission electron microscopy and N2 adsorption- desorption analyzer. The results show that the as-produced RHA and Si02 nanoparticles exist in amorphous phase without residual carbon, and exhibit porous structures with specific surface areas of 170.19 and 248. 67 m2 /g , respectively. The micro particles of RHA are aggregated by numerous loosely packed Si02 gel particles with the diameter of 50 to 100 nm. The authors propose that these rocks were formed in time and space as a response to regional tectonic regime change from the continent-continent collision of the Indosinian orogeny within the broad Tethyan orogenic domain in the Early Mesozoic (T1-T3) (Period Ⅰ) to the largely extensional setting as a result of the Yanshanian orogeny genetically associated with the NW-WNW-ward subduction of the paleo-Pacific oceanic lithosphere in the Late Mesozoic (J2-K2) (Period Ⅱ). Of the Period I Indosinian granitoids, the early (T1-T2^1) ones are syn-collisional, and formed in a compressional setting; the late (T2^2-T3) ones are latecollisional, and formed in a locally extensional environment. During the Period Ⅱ Yanshanian magmatism, the Early Yanshanian (J2-J3) granitoid-volcanic rocks, which are distributed mainly in the Nanling Range and in the interior of the South China tectonic block (SCB), are characteristic of rift-type intraplate magmatism, whereas the Late Yanshanian K1 granitoidovolcanic rocks are interpreted as genetically representing active continental margin magmatism. The K2 tholeiitic basalts interlayered with red beds are interpreted as genetically associated with the development of back-arc extensional basins in the interior of the SCB. The Yanshanian granitoid-volcanic rocks are distributed widely in South China, reflecting extensional tectonics within much of the SCB. The extension-induced deep crustal melting and underplating of mantle-derived basaltic melts are suggested as the two principal driving mechanisms for the Yanshanian granitic magmatism in South China.展开更多

During processing not only resistivity but also polarization information can be provided so we can study resistivity as well as predict oil-bearing characteristics simultaneously. Timedomain resistivity information is obtained by pseudo-2D resistivity inversion and frequencydomain IP information is obtained using the Cole-Cole model. Some successful applications in western China show that it provides unique results in an overthrust zone, deep igneous rock investigation, and hydrocarbon prediction.展开更多

Many scientists from Japan, China, Germany, France, the U.S.A. and Russia have done a lot of geologic and geophysical investigations there. It is well known that the Okinawa Trough is an active back arc rift with extremely high heat flow, very strong hydrothermal circulation, strong volcanic and magmatic activity, frequent earthquakes, rapid subsidence and rifting, well developed fault and central graben. But up to now, there are still some important tectonic problems about the Okinawa Trough that require clarification on some aspects such as the type of its crust, its forming time, its tectonic evolution, the distribution of its central grabens, the relationship between its high heat flow and tectonic activity. Based on the data obtained from seismic survey, geomagnetic and gravity measurements, submarine sampling and heat flow measurements in the last 15 years, the author discusses the following tectonic problems about the Okinawa Trough: (1) If the Okinawa Trough develops oceanic crust or not. (2) Is the South Okinawa Trough tectonically more active than the North Okinawa Trough with shallower water and few investigation data on it. (3) The formation time of the Okinawa Trough and its tectonic evolution. The Okinawa Trough has a very thin continental crust. Up to now, there is no evidence of oceanic crust in the Okinawa Trough. The North, Middle and South Okinawa Trough are all very strongly active areas. From 6 Ma B.P., the Okinawa Trough began to form. Since 2 Ma, the Okinawa Trough has been very active.展开更多

In this paper, we first compare the an empirical formula for porosity calculation from full diameter rhyolite core experiments with the matrix porosity formulas commonly used. We discuss the applicability of the empirical formula in fractured and vuggy reservoirs, such as intermediate-basic volcanics and weathered dolomite. Based on core analysis data, the error distribution of the calculated porosity of our empirical formula and the other porosity formulas in these reservoirs are given. The statistical error analysis indicates that the our empirical formula provides a higher precision than the other porosity formulas. When the porosity is between 1.5% and 15%, the acoustic experiment formula can be used not only for acidic volcanics but also in other fractured and vuggy reservoirs, such as intermediate-basic volcanics and weathered dolomite. Moreover, the formula can reduce the effects of borehole enlargement and rock alteration on porosity computation.展开更多

There are a lot of Cenozoic volcanoes, a large area of volcanic rocks, a large number of active faults and rich geothermal resources in Northeast China. The time and space characteristics of Cenozoic volcanism and the space distribution characters of hot springs and high geothermal flux regions in Northeast China are described and discussed on the basis of geological, geothermal, drilling and volcanological data. It is revealed that the hot springs and high geothermal flux regions are related to the Cenozoic volcanism, rifting and faulting in Northeast China. It is especially emphasized that the hot springs and high geothermal anomaly areas are controlled by active deep faults. It is proposed that the Cenozoic volcanism regions, rift basins, active fault belts, activated plate suture zones and large earthquake occurrence points are the best areas for prospecting geothermal resources. The geothermal resources in younger volcanic zones are richer than those in older volcanic belts. The hot springs and active or activated faults might be a very good clue for looking for geothermal resources.展开更多

文摘Non-agricultural lands are surveyed sparsely in general.Meanwhile, soils in these areas usually exhibit strong spatial variability which requires more samples for producing acceptable estimates.Capulin Volcano National Monument,as a typical sparsely-surveyed area, was chosen to assess spatial variability of a variety of soil properties, and furthermore,to investigate its implications for sampling design. One hundred and forty one composited soil samples were collected across the Monument and the surrounding areas.Soil properties including pH,organic matter content, extractable elements such as calcium (Ca),magnesium (Mg),potassium (K),sodium (Na),phosphorus (P),sulfur (S),zinc (Zn),and copper (Cu),as well as sand, silt, and clay percentages were analyzed for each sample.Semivariograms of all properties were constructed, standardized, and compared to estimate the spatial variability of the soil properties in the area.Based on the similarity among standardized semivariograms,we found that the semivariograms could be generalized for physical and chemical properties, respectively. The generalized semivariogram for physical properties had a much greater sill value (2.635) and effective range (7 500 m) than that for chemical properties.Optimal sampling density (OSD),which is derived from the generalized semivariogram and defines the relationship between sampling density and expected error percentage, was proposed to represent, interpret, and compare soil spatial variability and to provide guidance for sample scheme design.OSDs showed that chemical properties exhibit a stronger local spatial variability than soil texture parameters, implying more samples or analysis are required to achieve a similar level of precision.
文摘The time-frequency electromagnetic (TFEM) method combines frequency-domain sounding with time-domain sounding to form a comprehensive system so that it is possible to select different frequencies and induce waves according to the objective depth to be explored. Some successful applications in western China show that it provides unique results in an overthrust zone, deep igneous rock investigation, and hydrocarbon prediction.
文摘The Okinawa Trough is a very active tectonic zone at the margin of the Northwest Pacific and is typical of back arc rifting at the young stage of tectonic evolution. Since 2 Ma, the Okinawa Trough has been very active.

文摘Yingcheng Formation is a set of volcanic strata composed of lava rocks, volcanic clastic rocks and sedimentary rocks, filled in some fault depressions in Songliao Basin, early Cretaceous. The study about litho-facies succession of Yingcheng Formation in the outcropped area of the southeast margin and in Xujiaweizi fault depression and its distribution based on analysis of seismic data, shows that the sequence of volcanic strata is quite different from the clastic sedimentary sequence. To study the architecture of volcanic sequence and its structural control of Yingcheng Formation in Songliao Basin,in this work, dividing of the volcanic sequence and dating of the sequence boundaries were finished firstly, then displacement and displacement rate of faults were calculated. The results show that, sample ages of top of the first member, the seconde member, and the third member are 127 Ma,115 Ma,110.7 Ma,respectively and sample age of the bottom of the third member is 114.7 Ma.The maximum displacement and displacement rate of the fault 1 are 3 km and 300 m/Ma,respectively,and those of the fault 2 are 3 km and 1000 m/Ma.Studies suggest that, the cooling unit of lava rock or pyroclastic rock is a basic genetic stratigraphic unit in volcanic sequence stratigraphy.Cooling units can construct a parasequence reflecting a volcanic eruption stage.A sequence was superimposed by some parasequences, responding to a volcanic active cycle. There are three types of volcanic sequences in Yingcheng Formation: type of explosion, type of effusion and type of mixed explosion-effusion.The surface of the volcanic sequence,an unconformity surface widely spread and traced in seismic profiles,is a base for analysis of volcanic sequence. The development of volcanic sequence was controlled by faulting, and the curves of fault displacement(rate)can reflect this control. The preservation of volcanic sequence was controlled by the type of volcanic structure and the regional subsidence, also different from that of the sedimentary. The type of volcanic structure of Xujiaweizi was a volcanic depression during the forming of Yingcheng Formation, and the breakdowns of volcanoes and structural subsidence were key factors in the volcanic sequences preservation.

文摘Matrix porosity calculations of fractured and vuggy reservoirs, such as volcanics and weathered dolomite, are one of the problems urgently needed to solve in well-log evaluation. Moreover, the formula can reduce the effects of borehole enlargement and rock alteration on porosity computation.

文摘Polymetallic iron ore sulphate deposits of marine volcanic rock have been developed in the Fangniugou area,Jilin Province,China, but the division of volcanic ore-bearing strata has not been specifically elucidated and there is disagreement about the division. The sampling and SHRIMP U-Pb zircon dating of volcanic rock for Daheishan in the Fangniugou area and the northeast slope of the Duanjiadian were described. The volcanic rock formation period and recorded the volcanic events in the Daheishan mountains were systematically researched. Two samples of high-precision U-Pb zircon dating were used to represent the volcanic rock fomation period of the Late Silurian. The measured data reflect that multiple volcanic activities occurred during the Middle Silurian,Early Silurian,Middle Ordovician and Silurian, and Late Ordovician, probably matching volcanic events in the Songnan Basin identified from zircon dating. At the same time,it is confirmed that a controversial "conglomerate of Daheishan" did in fact develop in the Late Silurian, and those sections of both the Dazigou and Xinlitun-Taoshan with graptolite had been reversed.

文摘Predicting high-quality volcanic reservoirs is one of the key issues for oil and gas exploration in the Songnan gas field.Core, seismic, and measurement data were used to study the lithologies, facies, reservoir porosity, and reservoir types of the volcanic rocks in the Songnan gas field. The primary controlling factors and characteristics of the high-quality volcanic reservoirs of the Yingcheng Formation in the Songnan gas field were investigated, including the volcanic eruptive stage, edifice, edifice facies, cooling unit, lithology, facies, and diagenesis.Stages with more volatile content can form more high-quality reservoirs. The effusive rhyolite, explosive tuff, and tuff lava that formed in the crater,near-crater,and proximal facies and in the high-volatility cooling units of large acidic-lava volcanic edifices are the most favorable locations for the development of the high-quality reservoirs in the Songnan gas field.Diagenesis dissolution, which is controlled by tectonic action, can increase the size of secondary pores in reservoirs.Studying the controlling factors of the high-quality reservoirs can provide a theoretical basis for the prediction and analysis of high-quality volcanic reservoirs.

文摘We calculated the crustal stress field using the composite focal mechanism method based on the P-wave initial motion polarity data of the Tengchong volcanic area from January 2011 to April 2019 obtained from the Bulletin of Seismological Observations of Chinese stations. The magnitude range of earthquakes used in this study is 0–4,and their magnitudes are mainly approximately 1.0.To investigate the infl uence of the source location on the stress fi eld and obtain reliable stress fi elds of the study area,we applied the double-diff erence algorithm to relocate the seismic events, obtaining more accurate and reliable relative positions of seismic events with a clearer seismic belt.On the basis of relocation results, the study on the stress fi eld along the fault zone was conducted, and the infl uence of seismic event position on the stress fi eld was analyzed. Results show that,fi rst,the current stress regime in the shallow crust of the Tengchong volcanic area is strike-slip faulting, the orientation of the principal compressive stress axis is NE–SW,the orientation of the principal extension stress axis is SE–NW,the principal compressive and extension stress axes are nearly horizontal, and the dip angle of intermediate principal stress axis is relatively large. This reflects that the volcanic and seismic activities in the Tengchong volcanic area are mainly controlled by the collision and squeezing eff ect of the Indian–Eurasian plate. It also refl ects that the current tensile action caused by deep magma activity has little infl uence on the shallow crustal stress field.Second, the stress field along fault zones reveals that there exist local stress fi elds, such as the thrust stress regime at the strike-slip fault terminal area, which is consistent with the compressional area at the intersection of conjugate strike-slip faults indicated by previous study.Third, the stress fi eld results are consistent, regardless of using the original location in the bulletin or the relocated location, indicating that the infl uence of the event location error can be neglected when there are suffi cient data and refl ecting the stability of the composite focal mechanism method. The findings can serve as a reference for investigating geological structure movement, seismic activities, and volcanic activities in the Tengchong volcanic area.
文摘High entropy alloys(HEAs)have been the star materials in electrocatalysis research in recent years. One of their key features is the greatly increased multiplicity of active sites compared to conventional catalytic materials. This increased multiplicity stimulates a cocktail effect and a scaling-relation breaking effect, and results in improved activity. However, the multiplicity of active sites in HEAs also poses new problems for mechanistic studies. One apparent problem is the inapplicability to HEA catalysts of the currently most popular mechanistic study method, which uses the electrocatalytic theoretical framework(ETF)based on the computational hydrogen electrode(CHE).The ETF uses a single adsorption energy to represent the catalyst,i.e.,a catalyst is represented by a'point'in the volcanic relationship. It naturally does not involve the multiplicity of active sites of a catalyst, and hence loses brevity in expressing the cocktail effect and scaling-relation breaking effect in HEA catalysis. This paper attempts to solve this inapplicability.Based on the fact that the adsorption energy distribution of HEAs is close to a normal distribution, the mean and variance of the adsorption energy distribution are introduced as descriptors of the ETF,replacing the original single adsorption energy.A quantitative relationship between the variance and the cocktail and scaling-relation braking effects is established. We believe the method described in this work will make the ETF more effective in mechanistic studies of HEA electrocatalysis.

文摘To investigate the relationship between volcanic activity and sediment record on regional and temporal scales,158 surface sediment samples were collected from the East China Sea Shelf to the northern Okinawa Trough (OT),and two cores recovered in the northern and southern OT,respectively.Mineralogy,grain-size,and geochemical analyses of those samples show that:1) volcanic glass,volcanic-type pyroxene, hypersthenes, and magnetite increase in sediment influenced by volcanic activity;2) sediment grain sizes (and also silt content) increase in ash layers;and 3) the contents of Na2O and Zr are higher, while terrigenous elements,e.g.,TFe2O3 and K2O,and biogenous compositions,e.g.,CaO and Sr,are relatively lower in ash layers than those of non-ash layers. The distribution of volcanic ash has three distinguishing characteristics:1) volcanic ash is more abundant in the northern and central OT than the southern OT;2) volcanic ash increases from continental shelf to the trough;3) the sediment during the last 12 000 a suggests stronger volcanic events than during 15 000-12 000 a.The eruptive locations, frequency, and volume of calderas are among the most important factors controlling the distributions of volcanic ash.In addition, the main Kuroshio warm current that extends northward probably impeded the diffusion of volcanic ash to the west and south in the OT.However,a southward current probably carried some volcanic ash toward southern OT.

文摘This paper is concentrated on Cenozoic volcanism and geothermal resources in Northeast China. The hot springs and active or activated faults might be a very good clue for looking for geothermal resources.
