Oxygen-enriched top-blown smelting is a promising technology for processing waste printed circuit boards(WPCBs).The distribution behavior of valuable elements in WPCBs during smelting was investigated by varying the oxygen-enriched concentration,oxygen volume,CaO/SiO_(2)(mass ratio),and Fe/SiO_(2)(mass ratio).The optimal operating conditions were obtained by implementing a one-factor-at-a-time method.X-ray diffractometer,scanning electron microscopy−energy dispersive spectrometer,and inductive coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy methods were utilized to detect the chemical composition,occurrence state as well as elemental contents of alloy and slag.It is found that the elements of Cu,Sn and Ni are mainly accumulated in the alloy while Fe is mainly oxidized into the slag.The direct yields of Cu,Sn and Ni are 90.18%,85.32%and 81.10%under the optimal conditions of temperature 1250℃,oxygen-enriched concentration 30%,oxygen volume 24 L,CaO/SiO_(2) mass ratio 0.55,and Fe/SiO_(2) mass ratio 1.05.The results show that the valuable metals are mainly lost in the slag through mechanical entrainment. 展开更多

A general prediction model for seven heavy metals was established using the heavy metal contents of 207soil samples measured by a portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer(XRF)and six environmental factors as model correction coefficients.The eXtreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost)model was used to fit the relationship between the content of heavy metals and environment characteristics to evaluate the soil ecological risk of the smelting site.The results demonstrated that the generalized prediction model developed for Pb,Cd,and As was highly accurate with fitted coefficients(R^(2))values of 0.911,0.950,and 0.835,respectively.Topsoil presented the highest ecological risk,and there existed high potential ecological risk at some positions with different depths due to high mobility of Cd.Generally,the application of machine learning significantly increased the accuracy of pXRF measurements,and identified key environmental factors.The adapted potential ecological risk assessment emphasized the need to focus on Pb,Cd,and As in future site remediation efforts. 展开更多

The influences of slight amount of B element on the microstructure and properties of AlCoCrFeNiBx high entropy alloys(x = 0,0.01,…,0.09 and 0.1,mole fraction) were investigated.The AlCoCrFeNi high entropy alloy exhibits equiaxed grain structures with obvious composition segregation.However,with the addition of B element,the alloys exhibit dendrite structures.Inside the dendrites,spinodal decomposition structure can be clearly observed.With the addition of B element,the crystal structures change from(B2 + BCC) to(B2 + BCC + FCC) structures,and the hardness firstly increases from HV 486.7 to HV 502.4,then declines to HV 460.7(x ≥ 0.02).The compressive fracture strength firstly shows a trend of increasing,and then declining(x ≥ 0.08).The coercive forces and the specific saturation magnetizations of the alloys decrease as B addition contents increase,the decreasing coercive forces show a better soft magnetic behavior. 展开更多

The densification and microstructure of different spinelized magnesium aluminate spinels(MAS) were studied adding Sc_2O_3 as additive. Sintered products were then characterized in terms of densification, phase analysis, quantitative elemental analysis and microstructure. The results show that Sc_2O_3 is found to be beneficial for the densification of MAS. Sc_2O_3 has a more significant effect on the densification of partially spinelized MAS batch than that of fully spinelized MAS batch. At the sintering temperature of 1650 °C, the bulk density of sintered products of partially spinelized powders increases by 0.243 g/cm3 as the Sc_2O_3 content increases from 0 to 4%(mass fraction) and that of fully spinelized powder increases by 0.14 g/cm3. Compared with the sintered samples prepared from the fully spinelized powder, the sintered samples using the partially spinelized powders as raw materials have more compact microstructures. 展开更多

The as-cast Mg2Ni-type Mg20–xYxNi10 (x=0, 1, 2, 3 and 4) electrode alloys were prepared by vacuum induction melting. Subsequently, the as-cast alloys were mechanically milled in a planetary-type ball mill. The analyses of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) reveal that nanocrystalline and amorphous structure can be obtained by mechanical milling, and the amount of amorphous phase increases with milling time prolonging. The electrochemical measurements show that the discharge capacity of Y0 alloy increases with milling time prolonging, while that of the Y-substituted alloys has a maximum value in the same condition. The cycle stabilities of the alloys decrease with milling time prolonging. The effect of milling time on the electrochemical kinetics of the alloys is related to Y content. Whenx=0, the high rate discharge ability, diffusion coefficient of hydrogen atom, limiting current density and charge transfer rate all increase with milling time prolonging, but the results are exactly opposite whenx=3. 展开更多

High gradient magnetic separation was conducted in order to separate insoluble zinc ferrite from zinc calcine before acid leaching of hydrometallurgical process. Chemical composition and structural characterization of zinc calcine were studied via inductively coupled plasma (ICP), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Mossbauer spectra, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and laser particle analysis (LPA). The parameters of magnetic separation which affect the distribution of zinc ferrite and undesired elements, such as calcium, sulfur and lead in magnetic concentrate were investigated. The results of high gradient magnetic separation indicate that more than 85% of zinc ferrite is distributed into magnetic concentrate from the zinc calcine under the magnetic induction of 0.70 T. In addition, about 60% of calcium and 40% of sulfur distribute in non magnetic phases of tailings during magnetic separation process. Most of lead distributes uniformly along the zinc calcine in superfine particle size. 展开更多

The γ/γ' microstructure of a Re-containing Ni-based single crystal super alloy after a two-step aging was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM),transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM).The crystals were grown by the floating zone (FZ) method.Both cuboidal and spherical γ' precipitates were formed after a two-step aging.The size of the cuboidal γ' phases first increased and then decreased with the extension of the second-step aging time.Re,Co and Cr strongly concentrated in the γ phase whereas Ni and Al enriched in the γ' phase.Thermodynamic calculation by JMatPro was performed to explain the experimental observations. 展开更多

We have established a set of laboratory measurements which is used for capturing element gammma spectrum. Standard captured gamma ray spectra for ten elements, including Si, Ca, Fe, are obtained using the measurements for the first time in China. We also simulated the capture gamma ray spectra of the ten elements using Monte Carlo methodology with the same parameters of our experimental measurements. Comparing the experiment and simulation results with the data from the International Atomic Energy Agency's Nuclear Data Center, we obtained the standard captured gamma ray spectra of the ten elements, which, as calibration spectra, are used to calibrate the raw spectrum in data processing. This method solved the key problem during the conversion from the original measuring spectrum to the yield of each element in the data processing. The method can effectively improve the accuracy of the element yield calculation. 展开更多

A new Ni-based superalloy Ni48Cr28W5Co3Mn1Si1.6 was developed and the influence of a trace amount of rare earth (RE) metal addition on the oxidation resistance of this alloy was investigated. Isothermal oxidation behavior was investigated at 950?1150 °C in air, and then analyzed using scanning electronic microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The results showed that oxidation mass gain kinetics of the samples with and without RE elements follow the parabolic law. The effect of 0.20% RE on oxidation resistance is relatively small, and the oxidation rate constant of the alloy modified with 0.20% RE addition decreases by 5.9%?9.0%. Oxidation at 950?1150 °C for 100 h results in the formation of MnCr2O4, Cr2O3 and SiO2. A continuous and protective MnCr2O4 spinel layer forms as outer layer. The continuous middle oxide layer is confirmed to be Cr2O3, and the innermost layer consists of discontinuous SiO2. 展开更多

The partial substitution of M (M=Sm, Nd, Pr) for La was performed in order to ameliorate the electrochemical hydrogen storage performance of RE–Mg–Ni-based A2B7-type electrode alloys. The La0.8–xMxMg0.2Ni3.35Al0.1Si0.05 (M=Sm, Nd, Pr;x=0-0.4) electrode alloys were fabricated by casting and annealing and their microstructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The major phases (La, Mg)2Ni7 with the hexagonal Ce2Ni7-type structure and LaNi5 with the hexagonal CaCu5-type structure make up the basic microstructure of the experimental alloys. The discharge capacities of the as-cast and annealed alloys all gain their maximum values with the M (M=Sm, Nd, Pr) content varying. The electrochemical cycle stability of the as-cast and annealed alloys clearly rises with the M (M=Sm, Nd, Pr) content growing. Furthermore, the electrochemical kinetics of the alloys, including the high rate discharge ability, charge transfer rate, limiting current density and hydrogen diffusion coefficient, all present a increase trend at first and then decrease with the rising of M (M=Sm, Nd, Pr) content. 展开更多

The effects of the direct current (DC) on the evolutions of hardness and morphology of the secondary phases in 7B04 aluminum alloy homogenized at 380?465 ℃ for 2 h were investigated in detail by electric conductivity measurement, hardness test, X-ray diffraction analysis, field emission scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectrometry. The results show that with increasing temperature from 380 to 465 ℃, the electric conductivity of normal homogenized sample decreases from 34.9%IACS to 28.7%IACS, the hardness increases from HV 96 to HV 146, and the area fraction of secondary phase reduces from 4.5% to 1.89%. While, DC homogenized sample has a higher hardness, a lower electric conductivity and a smaller area fraction of secondary phases at the same temperature. The DC enhances the homogenization process by promoting the diffusibility of the solute atoms and the mobility of vacancy. 展开更多

Based on the analyses of the microstructures and phase diagrams of the TiAl-based alloy, the relationship among the composition, structure and mechanical properties of the B2-containing y-TiAI alloys was reviewed. The refinement of microstructures and improvement of mechanical properties of TiA1 alloy through stabilization of the β/B2 phase were reviewed. The mechanism of the superplastic behavior of the B2-containing y-TiAI alloys was discussed. With a reasonable addition of β-stabilizer, metastable B2 phase can be maintained, which is favorable for fine-grained structure and better high-temperature deformation behaviors. The mechanical properties of the B2-containing TiAI alloy, including the deformability and elevated temperature properties, can also be improved with doping elements and subsequent hot-working processes. The above mentioned researches discuss a new way for developing TiAI alloys with comprehensive properties, including good deformability and creep resistance. 展开更多

The influence of Zr content on the microstructure and mechanical properties of implant Ti-35Nb-4Sn-6Mo-xZr (x=0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15; mass fraction) alloys was investigated. It is shown that Ti-35Nb-4Sn-6Mo-xZr alloys appear to have equiaxed single β microstructure after solution treatment at 1023 K. It is found that the grains are refined first and then coarsened with the increase of Zr content. It is also found that Zr element added to titanium alloys has both the solution strengthening and fine-grain strengthening effect, and affects the lattice parameters. With increasing the Zr content of the alloys, the strength increases, the elongation decreases, whereas the elastic modulus firstly increases and then decreases. The mechanical properties of Ti-35Nb-4Sn-6Mo-9Zr alloy are as follows: σb=785 MPa, δ=11%, E=68 GPa, which is more suitable for acting as human implant materials compared to the traditional implant Ti-6Al-4V alloy. 展开更多
