The consequences of self-fertilization are important factors determining the germplasm management in such species with levels of heterogeneity and heterozygsity. Effects of self-fertilization on floral, yield and yield components characters were evaluated by comparing two levels of selfing, produced in bee-proof cages, in open-pollination at two locations in Sudan. Selfing process results in no significant differences in yield and yield components within each cultivar. Autofertile lines with reduced partial dependence on insects for seed set could be produced. Spatial isolation should be used to maintain the genetic purity of such lines. An alternate strategy for entries multiplication should focus on increasing heterozygosity and the maintenance of cross-fertilization inside the entries to prevent contamination with foreign pollens. The study comprises one of the stages of APMNI, an assessment methodology for prizes, which emerged from the need for the National Quality Foundation's (FNQ) Technical Group for Innovation to disseminate the concept of innovation management to Brazilian organizations and universities. The technical group, coordinated by the FNQ and the Getulio Vargas Foundation - FGV/EAESP, is made up of the following organizations: AES, Ampla, Brasilata, Cemig, Coelba, Correios, Cummins, EDP, Embraer, FGV, Fibria, Fleury, GPC Quimica, Itau, Natura, Promon, Senac, Senai, and Volvo. The problem-situation discussed is that these organizations have different models, dimensions, factors, and scales for assessing innovation management, thus making it necessary to identify in the sample the common factors that drive organizational innovation.展开更多

Indeed they meet the need to implement techniques and management tools which are able to improve the culture-tourism binomial. This would permit to transform into valid instruments of national economical development, the shared declaration of intents for which culture and tourism, especially in Italy and in this particular fragile period, represent even more the main strategic levers for the sustainable development. This article intends to describe the potentiality of these widespread hotels as innovations particularly suitable with trends recently emerged in tourism sector and outline the phenomenon pattern in ltaly with particular attention on Umbria region, in order to identify his main strength and weakness and some innovation to improve performance. To this end, it starts from the analysis of the national and international economic-managerial literature concerning in particular cultural and experienced trends shown in tourism. Then it introduces the main acquisitions about widespread hotels in Italy, updating and extending them through a desk survey based on indirect sources of various natures. Lastly, it describes the case of Umbria, analyzing more in depth making use of interviews with entrepreneurs/managers of hotels and based on a semi-structured questionnaire. The aspects of indeterminateness which were found, starting from the normative one, testify how the potentiality of the widespread hotels as far as regards the value creation for the enterprise itself and the territorial stakeholder, are still not properly understood and therefore used. It is clear that, therefore, new behaviors are needed for entrepreneurs and, most importantly, for local policy makers in order to create the conditions for the full success of these hospitality models.展开更多

In the present competitive climate, knowledge is considered as the main distinguishing factor of business success, and it is seen as the foundation of organization's innovation. The emergence of knowledge-intensive society has changed the nature of business competition. Hence knowledge needs to be appropriately managed. Knowledge Management (KM) focuses on managing different knowledge processes such as acquiring, creating, storing, sharing, transferring and applying implicit and explicit knowledge with objective of product and process innovation, performance development and sustainable competitive advantage. This paper tries to demonstrate KM lead to promotion of innovation and performance when it is correctly supported by human resource management (HRM) and information technology (IT). The questions we will try to investigate in this paper are: How knowledge in organizations can be managed? What is the connection between HRM, IT and effective implementation knowledge management strategies and how these relationships affect on organizational goals? For this means, this study ftrst states the importance of knowledge, KM process and introduces two strategies for managing knowledge (exploitative and explorative strategy). Next, it demonstrates each strategy requires to desired facilitator to support them in action. Finally, with presenting of model, this study concludes that each one of strategy can cover some KM process. Hence for the effective implementation of knowledge management process, organizations have to utilize both strategies.展开更多

This paper investigates the management of innovation adopted by the European leader in sports equipment: Decathlon (Oxylane Group). In recent years, vertical integration push and innovation have secured the company's leadership and success in a number of sports markets throughout Europe. It now has 909 stores located globally. Oxylane Group designs, manufactures, and sells sports products for sports people worldwide. It offers fitness, dance, gymnastics, and combat sports products; bicycles, equipment, and accessories; team sports products; nautical and water sports products (surf sports, diving, sailing, and kayaking products); swimming products; mountain sports products (for hiking, mountain trailing, camping, skiing, and snow shoe hiking); skiing and snowboarding products (for snowboarders and skiers); and climbing and mountaineering products. The company is now a direct challenger for world sports leaders. Since the end of the 1990's, Decathlon different sports brands have not taken a unique and rational path to success. The company has built insights about its customers, identified and evaluated unique market opportunities, and prepared a bold game plan to seize them. By doing so, Decathlon has developed a stream of winning products. The process of new business creation generally splits into two parts: an upstream process (sensing and creating opportunities) and a downstream process (converting the selected opportunities into successful products). Most businesses have a formal process implemented to manage the downstream part. Few that people know of have set up an equivalent process like Oxylane and Decathlon to sense and create new opportunities in the sports equipment industry. The aim of the paper is to examine how the brand has developed two of its successful product: the tent two seconds and the wetsuit "Inergy". These two products are chosen as examples to understand how the upstream process articulate with the downstream one.展开更多

Piggery was established to combine science and technology to generate innovations for anyone seeking to establish a new pig production enterprise. Results show that since 2008 to 2013, pork prices in Ghana rose rapidly between 115-120%. Also the rate of returns was higher at 43.62% compared to bank interested rate. Feed, as a percentage of total costs, were minimised from 70% to 55% with integrated lactobacillus brewer spent malt as supplement to formulated feed. The piggery project was highly successful and invested capital was recouped within two years of project take-off. Collaborating with other farms, organisations and entrepreneurs, a lot of research innovations in the area of improving feed cost, animal nutrition, waste management practices, and breeding have been generated and shared with both small and large-holder pig farmers. In all aspect of the farm management, results achieved so far especially with pork carcass quality and profit margins are encouraging which have led to the expansion of the piggery project.展开更多
