Commercial illustration in packaging design which can provide extremely diversified forms of style, to convey the brand＇ s core idea, brand or product difference, and brand personality. Application of illustration in packaging design should use human language, which would make the commodity characteristics. Our methodology combines the principles of psychology and aesthetics to optimize the traditional approaches which will not only enhance the design pattern of the current model and help make innovative products.展开更多

Following the theories of Vygotskian psychology and the ＂Fifth-Dimension＂ educati...This paper evaluates Look Glass Neighborhood（LGN）, an educational after-school program being experimented in San Diego, California. Following the theories of Vygotskian psychology and the ＂Fifth-Dimension＂ education model, LGN aims at improving bilingual children＇s literacy via interactive games and letter writing activities. Based on previous studies on first language acquisition over past decades, the paper first discusses the inadequacy of research on child narrative development, especially in terms of the lack of attention to bilingual children and the insufficient discussion on applying first language acquisition theories to early literacy education. Then, it demonstrates the unique designs of the ＂Looking Glass Neighborhood＂program by a qualitative analysis of ethnographic data from two elementary school bilingual participants in the program, explicating the program＇s focuses on the interactions between oral performance and content-focused co-writing activities. Finally, the paper explores the possibility to embed some design elements of LGN such as content-based, co-writing activities and indirect oral corrective feedback into China＇s current kindergarten and elementary EFL curriculums.展开更多
This article traces the evolution of the field of second language acquisition/development(SLA/SLD). It chronicles the evolution in terms of different disciplines and theories that have been influential, beginning with...This article traces the evolution of the field of second language acquisition/development(SLA/SLD). It chronicles the evolution in terms of different disciplines and theories that have been influential, beginning with the origin of SLA/SLD in linguistic thinking and expanding its scope of inquiry to psycholinguistics. It has developed further with the disciplines of anthropology and sociology holding sway. More recently, newer cognitive theories have been influential. The article discusses the recent call for a transdisciplinary approach. More specifically, the author promotes the adoption of complex dynamic systems theory, in keeping with non-reductionist systems thinking. Not only is this sociocognitive theory an interdisciplinary theory, but it also highlights the dynamic, variable, nonlinear nature of second language development. This it does within an ecological conception of development, which insists on the relevance of context. It also maintains that SLA/SLD is not a matter of input becoming output, but rather that language patterns emerge from the interaction of its users, given the affordances that they perceive. The article concludes with a discussion of several instructional issues.展开更多
