It elaborates how the advertiser as addresser in communication succeed in conveying his intention for publicity and how the recipient as addressee takes advantage of different types of relevant devices in reasoning out the communicative purposes from four different angles, namely, non-stereotypical interpretation of advertisements, psychological requirements of the recipient as addressee in advertisements, advertisements as explicit information and the situational approach to implicit meanings of advertisements. It aims at providing guidance for advertisement planning and translation by means of the exposure of rules underlying advertisements.展开更多

This research is necessitated by the fact that apart from the point that globalization will be very difficult if not impossible without language, language is also a major tool to fix every challenge of life since solution to problems of life arises through thought. The researcher draws her data from bill boards, television, posters, and other secondary sources of data like textbooks, journals, internet, etc. and adopts a descriptive framework for the analysis of data. The investigation portrays the fact that language is an indispensable tool not only for global research but for resolving all the challenges facing Nigerians in the 21 st century. The study shows that there are challenges in the health, security, educational, social, economic, and political sectors in Nigeria. It equally reveals that through language, solution to the health, security, educational, social, economic, and political challenges in Nigeria is provided.展开更多

Pragmatic vagueness phenomenon exists in news report, law version and commerce report. Nowadays in adverting creations, advertisers take pragmatic vagueness as the strategy in order to make the most effective to strengthen the advertising attention, memory and persuasion in the limited time and space. At the same time, the pragmatic vagueness strategy also strengthens the advertising flexibility and appropriateness, compresses information and produces advertising aesthetic effect. In most circumstances, advertising companies use pragmatic vagueness to realize their advertising purpose and pragmatic vagueness offers strangely psychological hint to customers. This paper will firstly state pragmatic vagueness and advertising activities, and then analysis the function of pragmatic vagueness in advertisements.展开更多

It is usually found in the head and neck of affected children. Lymphangioma of the small-bowel mesentery is rare, having been reported for less than 1% of all lymphangiomas. Importantly, it can cause fatal complications such as volvulus or involvement of the main branch of the mesenteric arteries, requiring emergency surgery. Moreover, the gross and histopathologic findings may resemble benign multicystic mesothelioma and lymphangiomyoma. Immunohistochemical study for factor Ⅷ-related antigen, D2-40, calretinin and human melanoma black-45 (HMB-45) are essential for diagnosis. Factor Ⅷ-related antigen and D2-40 are positive in lymphangioma but negative in benign multicystic mesothelioma. HMB-45 shows positive study in the smooth-muscle cells around the lymphatic spaces of the lymphangiomyoma. We report a case of smallbowel volvulus induced by mesenteric lymphangioma in a 2-year-and-9-mo-old boy who presented with rapid abdominal distension and vomiting. The abdominal computed tomography scan showed a multiseptated mass at the right lower quadrant with a whirllike small-bowel dilatation, suggestive of a mesenteric cyst with midgut volvulus. The intraoperative findings revealed a huge, lobulated, yellowish pink, cystic mass measuring 20 cm × 20 cm × 10 cm, that was originated from the small bowel mesentery with small-bowel volvulus and small-bowel dilatation. Cut surface of the mass revealed multicystic spaces containing a milky white fluid. The patient underwent tumor removal with small-bowel resection and end-to-end anastomosis. Microscopic examination revealed that the cystic walls were lined with flat endothelial cells and comprised of smooth muscle in the walls. The flat endothelial cells were positive for factor Ⅷ-related antigen and D2-40 but negative for calretinin. HMB-45 showed negative study in the smooth-muscle cells around the lymphatic spaces. Thus, the diagnosis was lymphangioma of the small bowel mesentery with associated small bowel volvulus.展开更多

Since then, modem surgery has developed more effective techniques, including no vascularized bone grafts, better alloplastic materials, vascularized loco regional grafts, soft and hard tissue compounds, bone fixation and stretching materials, and mechanisms for study models. These components have become indispensable in the surgeon's arsenal with regard to reconstructive surgery. A gold standard for mandibular bone reconstruction is the use of autogenous grafts. The objective of this study was to describe a clinical case of mandibular reconstruction with autogenous graft associated with adjuvant hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The clinical case presented shows the treatment performed for after-effects correction due to the non-consolidation of sagittal mandibular osteotomy performed for correction of standard III dentofacial deformity, resulting in a pseudoarthrosis with bite deviation and facial asymmetry. As a treatment plan, mandibular reconstruction was instituted with autogenous graft of anterior iliac crest associated with the use prototyping biomodel and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. After a control of 1 year and 6 months, no signs of recurrence were identified and the radiographic image showed excellent positioning, good volume and maintenance of the mandibular contour.展开更多

We report a case of a 42 year-old, right-handed female, who presented with pain of the right wrist following a fall on the palm of the hand. Clinical study revealed a moderate swelling over the mid-section of the palmar face and pain through extreme ranges of motion of the wrist. Plain radiographs and CT-scan of the wrist have revealed an intraosseous ganglion cyst of the lunate bone. Curetting-filling by Kuhlman's vascularized radial bone graft allowed a good functional recovery. The clinical, radiological and therapeutic asoects are discussed.展开更多

Neurological examination revealed that the patient's muscle power was 0/5 at all extremities. The patient did not show any sense of light touch or pain in his extremities. In radiological studies, cervical spine X-ray and CT scan images showed C4-C5 subluxation with bilateral locked facets and spinal cord injury. The results of this very rare case study revealed that exercising Parkour sport without taking into account safety standards could result in irreversible injuries to the cervical spinal cord with fatal outcome.展开更多

She complained of a neck pain and a complete quadriplegia and was diagnosed as having spondyloptosis of the C6-C7. Skeletal traction was performed on her. CT scan showed fractures of the C5, C6, and C7 vertebral body. The patient underwent anterior approach partial corpectomy with anterior cervical locking plate and strut grafting from ipsilateral iliac crest. Intraoperatively it was found that the disc was completely ruptured and there was a dural tear and cerebrospinal fluid leak. Her postoperative period was complicated by cerebrospinal fluid collection and posterior instrumentation was not performed due to the poor general condition. She had no neural recovery at the last follow-up. Spondyloptosis is a severe and highly unstable injury with a three column ligamentous disruption and may be complicated, as in our case, with a dural tear.Management of these cases is fraught with complications, and prognosis for neural recovery is dismal.展开更多
文摘This paper approaches advertisements on the basis of relevant theory. It aims at providing guidance for advertisement planning and translation by means of the exposure of rules underlying advertisements.
