The interesting phenomenon and its influence on the solidification microstructure were investigated in order to better study the mechanism of UST. It is considered that the overflowing phenomenon occurs due to the changes of vibration and flow in the remaining semisolid. Because the overflowed portion comes from the region with intense UST effect and vibrates with the probe during solidification, great modification of primary and euteetic Si (about 10 pm in length) and refinement of primary a(Al) (about 70 μm in size) are observed in this portion.展开更多

The influences of heat input and filling pressure on hysteretic loop, due to the noncoincidence between onset and damping processes, are measured and analyzed. The condition for the occurrence of hysteresis is also briefly discussed.展开更多

The contribution of three major noise sources to the radiated noise of a submarine were compared and analyzed, and emphasis was put on the original source, production mechanism, and their correlative characteristics. On the basis of analysis on underwater tracking and pass through characteristics of the target submarine, the double-peak phenomenon was reasonably interpreted. Furthermore, the correctness of the theoretical interpretation was verified adequately in real submarine tests. The double-peak phenomenon indicates that the space distributing character on submarine radiated noise are both asymmetrical with time and space, whereas that is provided with directivity. Studying the double-peak phenomenon in depth has important reference value and meaning in engineering practice for understanding the underwater radiated noise field of submarines.展开更多

Fungi are carbon heterotrophs that require preformed organic compounds as carbon sources. USRT is an attractive means to improve water quality because of the system simplicity and no production of toxic by-products. An ultrasound reactor produces strong cavitation in aqueous solution causing shock waves and reactive free radicals by the violent collapse of the cavitation bubble. These effects should contribute to the physical disruption of microbial structures and inactivation of organisms. There was significant reduction in fungal growth, with decreased fungal growth with increasing USRT. In this study, ultrasound irradiation at a frequency of 42 kHz was used to expose suspensions of fungi to evaluate the disinfection efficacy of the ultrasound reactor. Also, this study showed that in this system more than 99% reduction of sewage fungi was achieved after 60 min.展开更多

In this paper, a new method based on Green’s function concept is used to study reflection and scattering coefficients. By this method the reflection coefficient with its phase angle, transmission coeffi- cient, and bulk wave scattering coefficient, can be obtained rapidly and accurately. To get precise result, the influence of static charge must be taken into account. In the work, we successfully cancelled out the effect of static charge and the validity of the results was checked. As an example, the reflection, transmission and scattering coefficients of a single grounded electrode on 128° YX LiNbO3 is shown.展开更多

Multiple mandibular opening and closing cycles recorded were used to calculate the waveform dimension and correlation dimension in the FD. Chaos in the TMJ sounds was estimated by the FD that was saturated with some constant value to an increase of embedding dimension. Results reveal that fractal analysis produces a high degree of reproducibility within, and similarity across subjects, and indicate that both FD values of the asymptomatic TMJ sounds are significantly higher than those of the symptomatic. These findings suggest that chaos is present in TMJ sounds and the difference in the FD is of diagnostic value in evaluation of pathological change in TMJ sound signals.展开更多

The ability to jointly restore the images and reconstruct the 3D images without blurring the boundary is the main innovation of this algorithm. First, a Bayesian model based on MAP-MRF is used to reconstruct 3D volume, and extended to deal with the images acquired by rotation scanning method. Then, the spatiotemporal nature of ultrasound images is taken into account for the pa-rameter of energy function, which makes this statistical model anisotropic. Hence not only can this method reconstruct 3D ul-trasound images, but also remove the speckle noise anisotropically. Finally, we illustrate the experiments of our method on the synthetic and medical images and compare it with the isotropic reconstruction method.展开更多

It is found that stochastic calcium oscillations occur when the internal noise is considered, while the corresponding deterministic dynamics only yields a steady state. Also,. the performance of such oscillations shows two maxima with the variation of the system size, indicating the occurrence of system size resonance. This behavior is found to be intimately connected with the canard phenomenon. Interestingly, it is also found that one of the optimal system sizes matches well with the real cell size, and such a match is robust to the variation of the control parameters.展开更多
