Peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) is one manifestation of metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC). Tumor growth on intestinal surfaces and associated fluid accumulation eventually result in bowel obstruction and incapacitating levels of ascites, which profoundly affect the quality of life for affected patients. PC appears resistant to traditional 5-fluorouracil-based chemotherapy, and surgery was formerly reserved for palliative purposes only. In the absence of effective treatment, the histori-cal prognosis for these patients was extremely poor, with an invariably fatal outcome. These poor outcomes likely explain why PC secondary to CRC has received little attention from oncologic researchers. Thus, data are lacking regarding incidence, clinical disease course, and accurate treatment evaluation for patients with PC. Recently, population-based studies have revealed that PC occurs relatively frequently among patients withCRC. Risk factors for developing PC have been identi-fied:right-sided tumor, advanced T-stage, advanced N-stage, poor differentiation grade, and younger age at diagnosis. During the past decade, both chemother-apeutical and surgical treatments have achieved prom-ising results in these patients. A chance for long-term survival or even cure may now be offered to selected patients by combining radical surgical resection with intraperitoneal instillation of heated chemotherapy. This combined procedure has become known as hy-perthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. This edito-rial outlines recent advancements in the medical and surgical treatment of PC and reviews the most recent information on incidence and prognosis of this disease. Given recent progress, treatment should now be considered in every patient presenting with PC. 展开更多

A dynamical-statistical post-processing approach is applied to seasonal precipitation forecasts in China during the summer.The data are ensemble-mean seasonal forecasts in summer (June August) from four atmospheric general circulation models (GCMs) in the second phase of the Canadian Historical Forecasting Project (HFP2) from 1969 to 2001.This dynamical-statistical approach is designed based on the relationship between the 500 geopotential height (Z500) forecast and the observed sea surface temperature (SST) to calibrate the precipitation forecasts.The results show that the post-processing can improve summer precipitation forecasts for many areas in China.Further examination shows that this post-processing approach is very effective in reducing the model-dependent part of the errors,which are associated with GCMs.The possible mechanisms behind the forecast's improvements are investigated. 展开更多

Based on the technology of controlling surrounding rock deformation by constructing concrete pillars in large section finishing cut in backfill coal mining, the characteristics of vertical stress on concrete pillars and main factors influencing pillar stability are analyzed. By building a Winkler elastic foundation mechanical model for the support system constituted of coal pillar, backfill body and concrete pillars, mechanical calculation on stability of concrete pillar is carried out to evaluate the pillar stability and safety. Seven numeral models in three schemes with different pillar sizes, inter-row distances and compression ratios at the stopes were analyzed through numerical simulation according to width reduction principle. The practice of finishing cut at IIIB44 workface at Yangzhuang coal mine shows that: when the actual compression ratio is 86.5%, construction size inside the finishing cut is 2000 mm x 2000 mm and the interval between concrete pillars is 2000 mm x 2000 mm, the pillars can be stable with the maximum movement of two sides of each pillar being only 83 mm and 54 mm, which achieves the expected effect. 展开更多

Based on the maximum posterior probability, estimation method of affected population was designed to accurately estimate victim population, which can be directly reflected by fugitive population. AutoClass is an unsupervised Bayesian classification approach which seeks a maximum posterior probability classification for determining the optimal classes in large data sets. Using stellar photometric data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) data release 7 (DR7), we utilize AutoClass to select non-stellar objects from this sample in order to build a pure stellar sample. For this purpose, the differences between PSF (point spread function) magnitudes and model magnitudes in five wavebands are taken as the input of AutoClass. Through clustering analysis of this sample by AutoClass, 617 non-stellar candidates are found. These candidates are identified by NED and SIMBAD databases. Most of the identified sources (13 from SIMBAD and 28 from NED respectively) are extragalactic sources (e.g., galaxies, HII, radio sources, infrared sources), some are peculiar stars (e.g., supernovas), and very few are normal stars. The extragalactic sources and peculiar stars of the identified objects occupy 94.1%. The result indicates that this method is an effective and robust clustering algorithm to find non-stellar objects and peculiar stars from the total stellar sample. 展开更多

To date, extensive research has been carried out,with considerable success, on the development of highperformance perovskite solar cells(PSCs). Owing to its wide absorption range and remarkable thermal stability, the mixedcation perovskite FAxMA1-xPbI3(formamidinium/methylammonium lead iodide) promises high performance. However, the ratio of the mixed cations in the perovskite film has proved difficult to control with precursor solution. In addition, the FAxMA1-xPbI3 films contain a high percentage of MA+and suffer from serious phase separation and high trap states, resulting in inferior photovoltaic performance. In this study, to suppress phase separation, a post-processing method was developed to partially nucleate before annealing, by treating the as-prepared intermediate phase FAI-Pb I2-DMSO(DMSO: dimethylsulfoxide) with mixed FAI/MAI solution. It was found that in the final perovskite, FA0.92MA0.08 PbI3, defects were substantially reduced because the analogous molecular structure initiated ion exchange in the post-processed thin perovskite films, which advanced partial nucleation. As a result, the increased light harvesting and reduced trap states contributed to the enhancement of open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current. The PSCs produced by the post-processing method presented reliable reproducibility, with a maximum power conversion efficiency of 20.80% and a degradation of ~30% for 80 days in standard atmospheric conditions. 展开更多
