According to models such as panspermia or the Nebula-Relay hypothesis,the ancestors of life on Earth once lived in molecular clouds.Then what are the energy source and bioenergetics for such lifeforms?A new bioenergetic mechanism powered by cosmic ray ionization of hydrogen molecules is proposed and its relation with the origin of chemiosmosis is also discussed in this paper.Based on this mechanism,the Last Universal Common Ancestor may be a type of lifeform that utilizes hydrogen molecules as donors of electron transport chains. 展开更多

The scattering and resonance reactions of ^22Mg+p and ^22Mg+α play crucial roles for studying deeply not only in the structure of proton-rich nuclei of ^23A1 and ^26Si but also for the interest of astrophysics. It is believed that ^22Mg nucleus is a waiting point in the αp-process of nucleosynthesis in novae. We supposed to perform direct measurement the ^22Mg+α system in invert kinematics using radioactive ion (RI) beam. The ^22Mg beam of 3.73 MeV/u was produced at CRIB facility of the University of Tokyo located at RIKEN, Japan in 2011. Biogenic reefs are one of two major depositional types in the South China Sea, and are constructed by coral, algae and bryozoa. Biogenic reefs are one of two major depositional types in the South China Sea, and are constructed by coral, algae and bryozoa. The West Pacific is a major area of biogenic reef development and plays a critical role in the global carbon cycle. However, the lack of geochronological studies in previous works inhibits our understanding of their contributions. Herein, we conduct a cyclostratigraphic and magnetostratigraphic study on Neogene biogenic reefs using the XK–1 core that was drilled at the Shidao Island,Xisha(Paracel) Islands. The main findings of this study are:(1) the establishment of reliable magentostratigraphy for Ledong, Huangliu, Meishan and Sanya Formations;(2) the magnetic susceptibility variation can be inferred as growth index and tuned to the 405–ka long eccentricity cycle;(3) the astronomical geochronology suggests that the bottom ages for Ledong, Yinggehai, Huangliu, Meishan,and Sanya Formations are 2.2 Ma, 5.7 Ma, 10.4 Ma, 16.6 Ma, and 24.3 Ma, respectively; and (4) Earth's eccentricity and obliquity played predominant roles in biogenic reef establishment on orbital to tectonic timescales. Thus, the reported geochronology offers an opportunity to test the contributions of various factors and hypothesize their roles in the global carbon cycle in future. 展开更多

Lepton Electric Charge Swap at the 10 TeV Energy Scale

We investigate the nature of the dark matter by proposing a mechanism for the breaking of local rotational symmetry between ordinary third family leptons and proposed non-regular leptons at energy scales below 10 TeV.... We investigate the nature of the dark matter by proposing a mechanism for the breaking of local rotational symmetry between ordinary third family leptons and proposed non-regular leptons at energy scales below 10 TeV. This symmetry breaking mechanism involves electric charge swap between ordinary families of leptons can and produces highly massive non-regular leptons of order 0 (1 TeV) mass unobservable at energy scales below 10 TeV (the scale of LEP Ⅰ, Ⅱ and neutrino oscillation experiments). Electric charge swap between ordinary families of leptons produces heavy neutral non-regular leptons with order 0 (1 TeV) masses, which may form cold dark matter. The existence of these proposed leptons can be tested once the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) becomes operative at 10 TeV energy-scales. This proposition may have far reaching applications in astrophysics and cosmology. 展开更多
